$449 is a good price that lets the early adopters pay the tax, and then some time after launch MS can drop it to a more mass market $399 without pissing anyone off too badly.

"Our source has been quiet since we did the original news back in April. As E3 approaches, the likelihood of leaks to happen increase dramatically. Today we can share with our readers some information regarding Project Scorpio.Within Microsoft, there have been multiple marketing plans suggesting Xbox One X is the name Xbox chose for Scorpio. Furthermore, same marketing plans suggest Microsoft has set the price for Xbox One X at $449, coming in matte black, and with more options available."

"Original story: With the recent rumors of Project Scorpio suggesting an event to reveal more details about the upcoming ‘beefed up‘ Xbox One console swirling around, we can confirm this is true. Next Thursday, at 6 AM PDT / 2 PM GMT, we will be hearing more information about ‘Project Scorpio' – this coming from a trusted source. ReCore Definitive Edition is coming to Scorpio (and Xbox One) with 4K support via a patch, bumping the game from 5.6GB to 12GB, approximately. We were provided pictures showing ReCore at 4K and can confirm they look extremely detailed, exquisite and almost dreamlike.

Current Scorpio devices are already running early Redstone 3 builds, which should be announced to the public in May at Microsoft Build conference. Furthermore, the Scorpio dashboard is the same we're currently using on Xbox One but running with the latest update – see details here. Regarding actual games, we can confirm Red Dead Redemption 2, FIFA 18 and Battlefront 2 (and more) are coming to Scorpio with 4K native resolution. Our source says the best experience is for first-party games, with ReCore being an example for Microsoft employees, and there are definitely more games getting the 4K resolution treatment this year. As Phil Spencer previously stated, virtual reality (VR) is a big part of Scorpio coming this Fall, however, the real focus for VR is going to be in 2018.

Update: Our source has shed some light regarding other titles getting 4K resolution on Project Scorpio. So far two franchises are confirmed being the critically acclaimed racing franchise Forza Motorsport / Horizon & Gears of War 4 (we're not sure if Ultimate Edition is getting 4K support). We will be developing this news by the hour.

Rumor: As the days go by we get new material about Project Scorpio, and today our source has presented us two potential names for Scorpio which have been considered by Microsoft. The first is Xbox One X and the second is Xbox One Pro. Speaking of Xbox One Pro, you may associate ”Pro" with PS4 Pro and yes there were some arguments from within Microsoft about that name. We also know there's a third name being considered for Scorpio but until we're sure what that name is we will not disclose more information.

For now, this is all we could get from our source, but be sure to stick with us for future Project Scorpio news."

I'm following their twitter account now. Says they've "shared 4K Recore screenshots, the (likely) name, and price." As though they know the price.

I've been really torn on that idea. I love my One S and think I might keep it so I can have an Xbox upstairs. That being said, I can probably get about $200 for it that could go towards Scorpio. I'd just have to live with either moving it back and forth or only playing Xbox stuff on one TV...
Oh, I had the old phat XBO. No way I'd get rid of the One S if I had it. I'm actually hoping Scorpio will look similar.

It's a great result, and Forza is going to look amazing on the console.

But yes, they turned down AA precisely because Scorpio couldn't handle it. Despite this, they claimed everything was turned all the way up. I had to figure out that AA wasn't based on other details. So it's actually unclear what else they may have been mistaken about.

The LOD setting is likely not meaningful, due to the primitive discard accelerator hardware added in Polaris. Culling happens anyway, keeping down the number of polys rendered.

Not really, it was right there in the screenshot they provided

$449.99 with Crackdown 3 included is a winner

$450 with a compelling first-party launch day exclusive would be the perfect compromise to the "$399 or $499" dilemma.

I suppose you're speculating, but nowhere in that detailed post is there talk of a pack-in game.
Including a game that demonstrates the power of the hardware makes a lot of sense. And that game being a first-party title should mean they would be eating less (profit) off the top. Great idea.

$449 / £399 might be around the best compromise on price. Still not ideal though when the PSPro could be up to $100 cheaper. Maybe they can throw in an Elite controller to sweeten the deal.

Because Scorpio Jaguar CPU is 9,5 % faster than Pro Jaguar, there is little choice for most devs, these are still tablet CPU's.

Nine per cent.

9.

IV.

Pro and Scorpio have huge GPU bumps to get above 1080p, but thats it.

Did you know a 3 GHz Ryzen is 2.6 x faster than a Jaguar....?

Thats the gulf to a proper CPU. TF is not everything you know.

I have 2 Ps4 pro in the house, and was mainly interested in Scorpio if it could run games faster, which it cant and I was disappointed, but until we get a proper CPU in consoles there is no choice.
It has a 9% higher clock, it may potentially offer more than 9% more performance because of the co processors like the audio block (which is even improved) or the dx12 co processor, which according to them practically frees the processor from the burden.

That website talks about those screens as if they are the second coming of christ. Come on now.

Yeah, that was a bit silly.

Almost dreamlike? Really? And the screens they posted barely looks good.

LOL, the Dx12 co processor is also in the Xb1 MS confessed shortly after the reveal if you can be bothered to search.

Good PR wording though. Its a jaguar, but some nice words around it.

Ps4 pro is a great machine for above 1080p, some 1800c, some 2160 c. Scorpio will be a great machine for 2160p, better LOD and AF etc.

But anything morein terms of superior frame rates other than stability ,,,, and you are setting up for disappointment, just be glad of the IQ increase and buy a big 4K TV.

They should just call it Xb1 Scorpio, MS have already been marketing the Scorpio name for 12 months, why drop it ?.

Yeah, it could very well be a 10.5% difference.

Ms didn't "confessed" anything, they came forth and clarified an information DF got wrong. What they claimed was that the new processor is improved over what's availble on xbone, but that on xbone there was still significant cpu resources used for that.

The thirst for information is real.

I don't believe the source, and I can wait a couple weeks for the official announcement.
