People hyped up Draenor so much, will this time be any different?
WoD was okish but i hope for the love of god this expansion blows it out of the water. MoP was great before that.
Did they though?
I stopped playing Wow after Wotlk.
I think the golden years of Wow were the Classic and BC.
Now every expansion feels the same.
WoD was terrible in terms of social interaction, PVP, and was mediocre in PVE (albeit short)
I really don't see where it shined.
And MOP... sigh.. just.. sigh.
Well I'll just put it this way, the only Expansions that can call themselves great have been TBC and Wrath. Cata was a great PVP expansion but failed miserably PVE wise. Nothing since Wrath deserves that level of praise.
The same gaps exist from BC to WolK and from WoltK to Cataclysm. I don't know about MoP and Draenor though.

Mediocre in PVE? The 5 mans are great and the raids have been nothing short of fantastic.
I think every expansion feels different but not as good as vanilla. Wish I could put my finger on what it is.I stopped playing Wow after Wotlk.

Has WoD even been out a year yet? (I dont play WoW dont murder me.)

Here's a bow from Siege of Orgrimmar versus the best bow you can get in the Draenor starting zone. It's even blue, so has a boost to normal items there, it's from an important questline.
Did they though? I mean, sure, people were excited for WoD because it's new content for the most successful MMO of all time - but i felt like the excitement wasn't as all-engulfing as with previous expansions. The lack of a new class or race was weird and the fact we went back to a continent we already visited in another timeline made people weary of how "new" that continent would really feel. Also, the "different timelines"-storyline seemed to confuse many, many people before they actually got to see it in action.
When it was released WoD got a lot of good reviews from both users and critics (of course, that changed when the lack of a proper endgame became more and more apparent), but beforehand I really didn't feel like there was too much hype going on.
As a troll player I'd love to see the trolls in the spotlight, as some rumors suggested, but i can also see why alliance players are kinda getting the shaft - it's really time for some alliance heroes to shine in the spotlight after such horde-centric expansions with MoP and WoD.
I'm part of the large group of people that came back for WoD and then swiftly left again. I don't know if they can win me back again, espcially when I'm enjoying FFXIV now.

I partially disagree, leveling was great in Cata, 1-60 revamped content felt fresh and fun unlike Vanilla 1-60, 80-85 also had amazing zones like Vashj'ir, Hyjal and Uldum. Raids were pretty meh though.

Yes, they most certainly did. But I think a lot of that could have been blamed on the atrocity that was MoP and all the resubs Draenor got back (temporarily)
I'd say that WoD has had the best questing experience and the raids have also been great compared to MoP's linear corridors. Social interaction is also the highest it has been since Wrath. WoD's problem was the complete lack of content patches.
If you stopped playing after wrath then how do you know that?

Vanilla felt great because the epic items were... epic. The 40 man raids were not for everyone and were like a dream for any adventurer. You saw someone wearing epic armor from those raids and you thought, "wow, epix!"I think every expansion feels different but not as good as vanilla.

Now everyone can easily obtain epic items so they are not "epic" anymore. Going to end game raids is also easier since they are not 40 man anymore. Everyone has impressive epic mounts. Everyone looks fancy. Everyone is a hero.
I remember a few people in Vanilla were so well known because they were leaders in end game raid guilds and have done and seen things that were impossible to others with smaller or no guilds. These guys were like heroes, everyone using "salute" emotes when they were nearby.
This whole feeling of epicness and the unknown mysteries of the more end game content are missing completely from the game after the expansions.
Onyxia 40m, pre MC. Those were the days.
To the future!
I like this post.WoD did a lot right, but it was just so hollow. Orcs orcs orcs. I even play a fucking orc. It was way too much. Grommash is a shit character. Yrel is rad, though.
The stat squish was awesome. So happy they did that. Wonder if they are gonna have a policy of squishing the previous PREVIOUS expansion. So in this case, MoP.
But let's get back to the cool, mysterious shit WoW used to have.
The Dark Prophet sounds somewhat interesting, at least. I don't think the game needs another class, though. I'd love to have a ship in-game to customize and stuff, though.
The bold has to be a joke. Go to any major city, or even traverse across the land. You will see no one. They are all in their garrisons.
As far as raiding being better than MoP, well yeah... that's not hard to do. WoD PvE, imo is not bad, not good.
Yes I agree lack of content patches is a problem, I just don't think it was the only problem.
Questing in Draenor was pretty good, I'll give you that.
Hearing the response to WoD makes my confirmation bias tingle.
I'm very glad I quit this game soon after MoP hit. They'd probably have to turn everything upside down to get me back, but I'll definitely enjoy the reveal as an outsider.
And MOP... sigh.. just.. sigh.

So when you were idling in Stormwind, Dalaran or Shrine in the previous expansions were you interacting with those people?

Pandaria was so fucking good. Its amazing how much they shit the bed with WoD after that.
Absolutely surreal.

Dunno about you, but I certainly was. Would recognise many people and offer a quick wave, maybe get nattering.
There's actually a spot between our garrison and our shipyard right now which remains unphased, and I've noticed a lot of people hanging around that bit. It's quite nice.

No but at least they were there. The world felt somewhat alive at least.
I would be surprised if they knock the expansion price down to 40. then again, I don't think Draenor's high price really stifled many buyers at release (I don't have numbers to back this up though).
I know, personally, Draenor's high price turned me off of my usually expansion-return to WoW.
