Halo 5 Opening Cinematic

Sounds like your mind was already made up before you saw anything. Not to mention, you saw something completely out of context.

There is no context in which this isn't fucking dumb.

Gotta agree to disagree here, lol. I hated 99% of the dialogue in ODST. All the machismo and middle school bickering was just unbearable. And his suit is the only custom MJOLNIR I've disliked so far. None of this is a big deal ultimately, but it all adds up to me not feelin' the Buck love.

I will agree that Nathan Fillion is a god tier voice actor tho.
Nah I getcha. I enjoyed ODST for what it was, though, a kinda dorky take on the Noir genre Halo-style.

Sucks we never saw Noble Team do anything this cool, though.

Sorry guys. Covvies are Chitauri now.
"You're on."

Though, for everyone else saying that Spartans are supeheroes now, Chief was already pulling that shit since 2 (bomb scene comes to mind).

I dug his voice, though.

My favorite part was when Birdo pulled out the Chaos Emeralds out of his snout/mouth and then summoned all of the Big Daddies, and then it turned out that we really are the Last of Us.

Will not watch, but nice to see that it seems to be well received.

Will find out once I start up the game in October.

Despite my obvious and repeated gripes about features missing that I consider essential, I truly hope that the rest of the package somewhat makes up for it. There are various other games for which I don't even touch the multi and remain satisfied with, if Halo 5 turns up the quality enough on the campaign side for me to feel like that, at least it won't be a total loss.

Aside from the S-II backflip kick thing on the brute chieftain in h4 is that the first time we've seen Spartans actually depicted as they are in the books?

I wish I had as much resistance as you do :(

Yeah, I mean they never released their sound tracks before. Mind blown man.

lol may be he was being sarcastic?

Game Fans - "Why are these Spartans so powerful!?"

Book Fans - "Finally 343i is showing the true capabilites of a Spartan."

I bet the part we didn't see was blue team side. Bad ass opening, if Osiris is this awesome I don't want to see Blue Team. HYPE!

Eh....,

What the fuck happened to this series? I know it's a team of Spartans, but this feels like the 'everybody is a super-saiyan'/'Jedi's can force-push armies' levels of ridiculousness. Sword elites turned into pushover scrubs? It honestly just feels like lazy writing/directing when the mentality behind creating something thrilling/awe-inspiring relies on 'watch how utterly POWERFUL they are!'

It also robs the characters (even past characters like Chief) of their ability to be special/impress. Because when everybody's special, nobody is.

Remember the 'bet you can't stick it' moment?

These are top tier Spartan IV'S not all elites are made the same not even close. Spartans have stats of this level. Those are zealots of the new covenant, not members of the fleet of particular justice.

If this was for new game X I'd say it looks good. But it's Halo and that looks nothing like Halo.
This is why I had a meh reaction.

It looks sweet, but I know that no way in hell will the gameplay ever reflect that.

Unless you're playing on Normal like a bitch.

I guess its a bit hokey but who cares, its a crazy sci-fi universe
This is also a universe of great apes wearing samurai armor sprinting around with giant hammers. You get your sci fi goodness, your hokey, your wise-ass NPC one-liners, and your Aliens rip-off gung-ho bits, and your tongue in cheek, and sometimes, rarely, you even get some tender moments, maybe even to some moody jazz. Its been a mix.

Mmmhmm

It's over the top. Bothered me for a second, but I suppose Spartans should be able to do that shit.

I just didn't like that they could one or two-shot the covenants like this was on sub-easy mode. Remember when they were a threat? Now it's like Avengers.

Around 3:08 I saw a knight blinking through, it was pretty awesome.

If you pre order the game digitally, do you get it a week early?

I'm actually a little worried about the Blue Teams intro given this one.. Three Sixty no scope snipes from Linda, MC sticking an elite from five hundred meters away... I mean how do you up the ante from this?

I just hope 343 doesn't lose sight of what made Halo great in the first place - exploration and wonderment on a vast alien and foreign world.

That's the point though. These are the newer, younger Spartans with lots of spunk. I take it the Blue team will be more reserved, yet still powerful in a sort of experienced way

If you've watched the package or read Reach or the first strike you'd know they don't take shit slow.
