Normiecore list.
Even though I'm a story driven campaign guy, I despise lists that centered around it cause it's just unfair to tarnish the real image of the hobby.I list of overhyped games rated by people who have no history with videogames whatsoever.
There is no planet where Dispatch is a better game than Super Mario World or Halo 3.
Huh? Stuff like Mega Man 2, Contra, Castlevania III, Punch-Out!!, Dragon Quest III, Tetris, Pac-Man, Dig Dug, Final Fight and Prince of Persia haven't just aged well, they are historically far more important than many of the overrated recent games listed. They have a timeless substance that most modern hits simply can't match.Maybe not, that is a good spread across the decades. 1980s games were mostly shit compared to stuff in the 90s.
Historically important doesn't mean best game ever though. This is not a list of most influential or groundbreaking games, just what people consider the best.Huh? You're moving the goalposts. You didn't claim the 80s were just "technically limited"; you specifically called them "mostly shit." That's a judgment on quality, not just a historical observation. Now that I've listed masterpieces like Mega Man 2 and Contra, which are mechanically tighter and more playable than many clunky, experimental 90s titles, you're trying to hide behind the "importance isn't quality" excuse to avoid admitting your initial take was off-base.Historically important doesn't mean best game ever though. It's a great game. Maybe not top 10 all-time, but it's still extremely good.Nah the game just sucks. It's not edgy if it's true.
I never claimed the entire decade as garbage. Just that most 80s were shit compared to those in the 90s. Not all, just most. Yes, the 80s have plenty of good games that hold up, but the overwhelming majority of them are simply not. Perhaps shit was too strong of a word, but I firmly believe the 90s had a much stronger lineup of video games vs the 80s. Yes, I understand the 80s games had to come first, and the technology was limited, and that if we are talking about what was more influential than it's a whole different ballgame. You're moving the goalposts. It's a weak pivot. You can't dismiss an entire decade as garbage and then, when confronted with games that are still genuinely fun 40 years later, backtrack and pretend you were only talking about "influence." If a game like Tetris or Punch-Out!! still offers a better core loop than most of what followed, it isn't just "important", it's a great game. Stop redefining your argument just because you got called out on a lazy generalization.
Fair enough, I see your point better now that you've clarified. 'Shit' was definitely a stretch, but even comparing the two lineups, a huge number of 80s titles still absolutely hold up today. In terms of pure gameplay and replayability, many of those classics could easily replace several of the more 'overrated' or dated entries on that IMDb list.I never claimed the entire decade as garbage. I stand by my statement that the 80s were weaker compared to the 90s and that this is a list of games people consider good, not influential, both being completely seperate opinions.
Is it because many people who work in movies also work on games?Who the fuck goes on the Internet movie database to review a videogame?
Does the J stand for Je t'aime?E33 deserves it's praise alone just by it being a JRPG with bearable writing and VA.
76 - BioShock Infinite - (9.1) - (2013) - (24K votes)
What the actual fuck. It's as if Faces of Evil had the same score as Ocarina of Time.79 - BioShock - (9.1) - (2007) - (24K votes)
Bloodborne is literally the Tetris of 3D games.
Still better than Ocarina in the first place like in every fucking ranking because N64 sold like shit but those drones act as one.True.
Last of us PS3 and remake in second and third place? Damn.
Part 2 - 40...
It's not like the bar is high...Better than metacritic at least.
Expedition 33 has to be the most astroturfed game in history. Whoever vibe-coded their review bot deserved a massive raise.
You will never convince me a janky "indie" RPG with active parrying (OMG SUCH A BRAVE AND UNIQUE CONCEPT) is rated above Ocarina of Time. lmao
Hahahah, some people are so salty about E33. It's loved by gamers, reviewers and game awards. Something like this is not very common these days.
Who voted for Ragnarok? It's a good game but not in fucking top 10 ever...
1 - Red Dead Redemption II - (9.8) - (2018) - (78K votes)
Yes Astro Boy Rescue Mission not only best VR game but best platformer, also nice to see that blue wanker Sonic no where on the list.Replace Expedition GPT (5) with Astro Bot Rescue Mission (249) right now.
UC4 deserves top 10.Ragnarok and UC4 in the top 20 but not a single Fromsoft game?
