When you're in a store in Canada, paying in Canadian dollars, the U.S. dollar is irrelevant. The only currency that matters is the one you're actually paying in.
You think people spend $1100 CAD and think, "I only paid $900 USD!" That's not how people operate. They paid $1100. Full stop.
You walk into a store, see a price of $1150, and that's the only number that matters. The US dollar doesnt mean shit when you are living in another country.
People don't care WHY another currency is stronger or weaker; they care about what they actually have to pay.
So yes, mentally, Americans are now paying what we've been paying all gen.

No one knows for sure whether Sony had a profit margin or not with the PS5 hardware. Contracts for RAM chip supply have tripled quarter-over-quarter, and Sony must be expecting them to continue rising in the coming quarters. I simply don't think it's possible to absorb the costs when the uncertainty is so high. The profit margins of the PlayStation division are fragile when the cost of RAM doubles month after month.according to the internets Sony has a 16% profit margin already on the PS5.
Add in 70% profit on software and PS Plus.
They are doing just fine.
At the very least they shouldnt be raising prices.
Time for Microsoft to announce a price increase tomorrow so the Series S starts at $499
With these prices, why bother delaying? If you can get in on PS5 pro you can probably spend the extra $$ on PS6.PS6 launch about to be delayed. I wouldn't mind to be honest.
With PSSR gearing up, devs can squeeze the console even more.
Those increases are fucking ridiculous.
The pro is gonna cost $1250 in Canada, nobody's gonna be buying that.

Sony has gone pure scumbag the past several years.
Won't argue with that, it would just be hilarious to see it being sold for that price. They could sell at 50 dollars or 5000
Nobody wants one, anyway
Is this you? That would be my RTX4090 actually. Which is worth more now - and on the second hand market - than what I paid at launch 3.5 years ago!
The recession caused by the bursting of the AI bubble is going to hit hard between 2028 and 2029.I hope Microsoft and OpenAI and all other AI shitfactories go out of business when this bubble bursts.
PC GPU, Memory, and CPU prices have increased over the past ~5 years. Not to mention the prices for food, gas, and everything else imaginable, yet we have braindead, "rent free" Marathon posts like these.......
At $50 you can probably sell the RAM for a profit. They could sell at 50 dollars or 5000
Nobody wants one, anyway
RAM situation could get better soon
Please. Take all the other cynical GAFFers with you. even if they can afford it.They can trust that I will just bow the fuck out of their ecosystem. I'll get into widdling wood on my porch like all the other poor 40 year olds.
I was expecting 800-900, but at this rate and with limited volume 1k is likely at this point.Steambox will be close to 1000eu won't it?
Hah that's crazy you're still rocking that card. Kudos though. How is it serving you? Do you mostly play singleplayer games at 60fps (1440p) or are there a lot of concessions you need to make?Yeah this is definitely the last gen for me at this point. As for PC? I'll stick with my 2080 forever.

Ironic because you're the one who stated the currency was equal in the first place.
If you can't follow basic and simple logic, there's no point continuing this discussion.
There's no might about it. It clear was the better move.900€ for the Pro
LMAO, what the fuccckkkkk
This might actually be the 1st gen where getting a console as soon as it was available was actually the better move...
Fuck me
I bought every Playstation Day 1 since 2007
Never understood the reason to wait for a price drop that might never happen
For the record, are you calling everyone who is angry about yet another price increase "cynical?" because that would be quite the self-revealing accusation to lob.Please. Take all the other cynical GAFFers with you. even if they can afford it.

People living in Canada, paying in Canadian dollars, do not care about exchange rates in everyday situations.
No one walks into a store, sees a price of $1,250 CAD, and thinks, "That's only $800 USD!" That's not how real-world spending works.
The only number that matters is the price in the currency you're actually using.
Jesus christ.
For the record, are you calling everyone who is angry about yet another price increase "cynical?" because that would be quite the self-revealing accusation to lob.
Not the price increase, you're justified to be upset with that. just in general. A whole lot of people here who are very unhappy with gaming and would be much happier if they pursued more fulfilling hobbiesFor the record, are you calling everyone who is angry about yet another price increase "cynical?" because that would be quite the self-revealing accusation to lob.
For a machine that's not going to be produced at anywhere near the scale of a PS5, and subject to the same RAM supply issues, I can't see that thing being less than $1000.OK Valve.
How much is the Steam Machine going to be?
You mean the price drops that always happened for over 20 years up until this very generation? Those price drops?
You can say whatever you want. Bungie still having a huge debt to Sony and theres no way those can ever be restituted by Bungie themselves. Plus all this GaaS fixation which beared no fruits. But yeah, thats not a correlation at all. That money magically went back to their bank account lmao xD
Stop eating that crap and maybe blood would flow to your brain betterA wild KFC Double Down appeared!
