What should be the NX's controller?

This was making the rounds earlier than that Sony related patent and was what i was talking about:

Something to consider:

i talked about an aiming system in the bumper/scrolwheel patent thread. Basically the wheel would control the X axis camera movement and the tilt of the controller would control Y axis camera movement.

Now imagine this prototype:

Durability issues aside, let's asume they go with a bumper wheel with force feedback. Imagine having tilt resistance with something like servos for a similar shaped prototype controller. You could basically have a probably better aiming system than a thumbstick with very trivial movements for control, yet preserving similar or better feedback.

Aiming would basically only need one index finger, leaving the thumb free to quickly operate a variety of buttons instead of dancing around when alternating between aiming and other actions.

Buy why? Why would you want to attach the half's together? Having your hands free on any desirable width in a natural position is more comfortable.
While what you say is true, there are still some minor conveniences for having a one piece controller. But mostly it comes down to people's customs and refusal to change.

So in that sense a transformabele split controller make sense just for the fact that is a good way to accomodate various audiences, game genres and play styles.
