I should know, I grew up in neighborhoods with kids exactly like them who like those people a lot.
As varied as this community's taste is, Pop-GAF was nice because people there enjoyed talking about folks like FKA Twigs, Bjork, Susanne Sundfor, Kelela and more. Yes, because my issue here was with the music discussion. KTT is worse because shit there just devolves into blatant stan wars. hiphopheads doesn't really help with finding underground stuff to listen to. /mu/ is a cancerous hellhole full of white kids yelling slurs at one another.

I like this community and I like the fact people here post albums that I wouldn't ordinarily hear, but dear god, this Nav meme has gone through its lifecycle in the span of a month. It was the same with Desiigner the last OT too.

Might just be due to a younger generation of GAF-Hoppers TBH. A lot of the OGs that used to be here used to incite interesting and heated discussions about history, legacy, etc. with a lot of knowledge about stuff that isn't just recent. There isn't much of that anymore, or the banter that made it work at the time.

I think André mentioned Thugga in every one of his rare interviews in the last few years.

My friends can't even take me seriously when I tell them that most of my Spotify library is composed of music by black artists. They can't handle Logic, let alone someone like Kendrick Lamar or Isaiah Rashad.

Wow, that's some pretty intolerant shit right there. Where could you even live that has people talk that bullshit? In my case, my friends have just resigned themselves to listening to whatever I put on and I've gotten them to listen to some good stuff as a result. It's just persistence on your part till they find that one song they really enjoy.
Also, NeoGAF is a place where people didn't know who Ariana Grande was until she was added to Final Fantasy. There are probably people on this site who could rattle off every single track title on the FFXV OST but couldn't name one Ariana Grande song. You'd best not use GAF as a resource for anything non-video game music related.
