Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

Slightly Live

Dirty tag dodger
I'm happy to say I've never finished a COD campaign. Always got too bored before the end was near.

I've played through two of them. I really liked the B-movie Hollywood popcorn action but it wasn't enough to disguise the brain dead and lifeless hollow enemies, AI and level design.

A Halo encounter is a beautiful thing. It's thought out and planned meticulously so that the player can approach it creatively and forge out their own unique solutions. There's nothing like that in a COD encounter - you simply kill enough dudes so that you get a short break with the infinite re-spawning enemies to allow yourself to reach a checkpoint that shuts them off and activates the ones ahead.

If anything playing COD campaigns just made me appreciate Halo campaigns more.

First MW really shows how to make a great scripted campaign, was trilling till the end.

Honestly I thought MW2 had a better scripted campaign, but also it has been a long-ass time since I played the MW campaign so all I can really remember was the mile-high club level lolz.

Sounds like a good idea. One thing I never got was why mlg and arena weren't the same thing from the start. Arena was supposed to be the competitive playlist, mlg is competitive halo.

MLG settings take awhile to tweak so unless MLG got it in advance there would be no way to launch with, looking at v1 now it's crazy. Just don't get why they (Bungie) did their own thing. To make up for ranks not being there? That's the reason why my friends play it. It's a ok playlist just way too much Forge for me.

I just hope it doesn't become community vs. MLG when it comes to settings in November, hope both sides work to have what's best for everyone without cutting everything out besides the BR/DMR.

I'm the opposite.

Black Ops was good IMO, MW2 was garbage.

My sentiments exactly.

Dumb excuse. Like someone said, season 1 arena was shit. AR starts.

If Halo 4 is as revolutionary is at seems to be I think we'll see a lot more.
Those sales I think are based off previous sales and scaled.
But Halo 4 seems to be a lot bigger than any other Halo game (besides Halo CE).

What do you mean by "bigger"? As in, how is Halo: CE the "biggest" Halo game?

On the subject of CoD campaigns iv played all of them with the exception of WaW. The MW series grabbed my interest in the characters with CoD4 so I stuck with it. Black Ops had a nice idea with the wars from different periods but it was poorly utilised and built around a fucking terrible story with a shitty twist.

Call of Duty is unique In a few ways, it's got a legion of players and a smaller but still insanely big legion of fans who activison have released they can dick over and pretty much abuse and they will still remain loyal. With the Black Ops 2 trailer I was sure they would get negative backlash but no the world is lapping that shit up likes it nectar of the gods

I kind of want the series to start suffering in terms of sales and weekly player numbers so they will actually innovate, they could start branching out. Battlefield size maps, good vehicle play ect. One of the things the series does brilliantly is Gun play it's one of the main reasons It keeps it's players with bigger maps and the with same attention paid to vehicle combat it could destroy the games like BF3.

Another personal gripe I have with the series is why the fuck are we limited to weapons inline with the era of the game. Screw that I want weapons going back to WW2 and I want every gun from the series you have the models and the weapon stats and balance is not at all a concern so let me have them. In fact move away from this retail game a year model altogether give me a single multiplayer release and support it monthly via dlc using the elite subscription model new maps and balance tweaks ect. The changes between CoD4 to MW3 was nothing at all

MW2 got me into CoD. I love playing Ground War though, 9v9 so much shit going on. Its like how BTB should be. If it had vehicles that would have been insane.

Never cared much for all that Hardcore CoD shit though.

To me CoD is just to relax. I enjoy taking Halo more seriously.

DrunkCoD is best CoD. I only play CoD4 though. That game rules.

Only two CoD campaigns I've enjoyed are CoD2 and CoD4, and I like CoD4 the most out of the two of them. "All Ghillied Up" is so ingrained within my memory that I don't think I could ever say I dislike CoD4's campaign even if I were to play it now and hate it through and through. Haven't played either in a while though. Hm. When I get home I should play CoD4's campaign again.

Black Ops I never enjoyed. All I remember from that game was the torture room and the numbers.

I have to admit, I'm somewhat interested in BLOPS2. It looks different enough to at least try. I didn't even bother with MW3 or BLOPS.
Blops had the best multiplayer so far.

You know, in my opinion, etc. the wager matches were the biggest innovation that whole franchise has seen AND they're fun as shit.

One of my issues with current gen Halo campaigns is that by the end of a level I don't feel like I've killed nearly as many enemies as I should have. I'm never satiated, they just go by so fast. Halo CE's levels felt like little self-contained adventures that went on forever and gave you a shitton of enemies to kill. Fuck repetitive forerunner corridors complaints.

I used to hate The Library for that very reason until recently. Playing through with Tunavi on Legendary was one of the single most fun experiences I've had with a Halo game.

even if I had to act as a backpack to carry that babby through

I can't think of a single thing in the BLOPS campaign that I would consider great. I honestly have zero clue what people see in it.

Both Modern Warfare 1 and 2 keep me engaged throughout though, including some nice open encounters and change-ups to the formula for variety - haven't picked up MW3 yet though.

You are not alone, and its one of the reasons I'm loving playing through Anniversary again. You give me some nice weapons and I'm going to want to fight a metric shitton of enemies, and it doesn't disappoint. I've got to give Halo 3 another shot because I do remember it having some of those qualities too - its just the emphasis on so many damn vehicle levels that stays my hand. Vehicle focused stuff is better in co-op.

Im not feeling how its different from MW3 at all, near future setting isnt anything really Ghost Recon has been doing it for years and it was uninteresting then.

Its going to be more of the same but after a 2 year break i understand, i skipped Blops on launch so i didnt play the Multi much and thats why i was interested in MW3, which turned out to be pretty horrible in its early stages but iv been playing it more this week and i suppose its okay.

Had like 15 people watching my CEA playthrough before it hit the Library. At the end of it there were I think 3 people. 2 of which were asleep but left it on.

Level is so bad, you can't just make 4 rooms and copy and paste it twelve times to create a level. Thats not how you do it.

Not to mention it was basically CoD enemy style spawning. Walk five feet spawn 52 flood enemies. Walk ten more feen spawn 53 flood enemies.

The other was me telling you what to do since you play like a scrub in campaign.

If that was sarcasm I'm right there with you. It can be pretty at times, but I felt more like I was spectating than playing it. Throw in a QTE or two, and yet another crashed aircraft/dragging/carrying/recovering consciousness sequence, endless enemy spawns and top it off with an on-rails back-of-the-pickup duck hunt tank hunt sequence and you've got the very worst of all worlds.

Where many would look at that video and see how much craziness is going on, I look at it and ask "just what is my part in all of this" and "what interesting choices am I making from moment to moment"? And the answer is "very little".

If you guys are serious, you are absolute masochists. smfh
Dead serious. Mowing down the incesant hordes in that level is just videogame gunplay porn. I don't care about traversing pretty levels with the constant scenery changes with only a couple of enemies sprinkled here and there.
