I think the betas did more damage then anything, they were baaaaaad
And can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Nobody wants to jump into a dying community so the numbers just get worse and worse.I ain't the biggest cliffyb fan but constantly highlighting stuff like this just seems means spirited. We have known for many months the game has bombed, atleast on pc, so not sure why we need to keep beating a dead horse.
Should someone put Cliffy B on suicide watch?
The man literally brought on comparisons to overwatch. He talked shit the entire time running up to the release. Also people are not going to stick with a game if it's gameplay is shit if you can get something better elsewhere, so ow must be doing something right

Ouch. Is the PS4 population any better?

Yeah I wasn't at all interested after the closed beta I participated shortly. Admittedly I didn't give the game enough of a chance. Indeed the learning curve made it very hard for me to like it. I had very difficult time to even keep up with what was happening, even less was I able to kill anyone. Then at the last day of open beta I decided to give it another go because there was some positive buzz in GAF. They had implemented skill based matchmaking and I played more than just few hours and it started to click. Just understanding the movement was a big deal, by managing resources, bunnyhopping, blindfire etc. And I started to have a blast. Played for the whole day and bought the game. No regrets.Dunno about earlier ones but not the final one, that's what sold me on the game.
Yeah that drastically wrong marketing was Cliffy himselfIt's getting pretty fucking mean, sometimes blunders can be funny but this seems like a good game made by talented people that drastically went wrong in marketing somewhere
Oh ..
well now i know why i didn't knew this.
cuz ur a noob
Ouchthey had a community stream teasing stuff today too
Overwatch's gameplay is incredibly fun, open to a lot of creativity, and every character offers so much gameplay diversity. It's crazy to me that people share this opinion as they spit it out as objective truth.I stopped playing OW after a couple of weeks, so for me, what you say holds true. I personally think that OW is one of the most overrated games this generation, up there with the Witcher 3. The poor moment-to-moment gameplay of both of these games . . .
And yes, people absolutely do keep coming back to games with poor gameplay, but for other reasons. See Skyrim as a perfect example. Would anyone argue that the moment to moment gameplay in Skyrim is good? The nearly unanimous consensus is that Skyrim gameplay sucks, yet it enjoyed tremendous success.
Edit: all of this is from a console perspective.
It's too bad this didn't release on Xbox. I have friends interested in this who don't game on PC/PS4.

It's pay to play on Steam only?
C'mon son.
You know those Steam numbers are terrible too for game with the Quake brand and the same price point as LB. The idea that there is a ton of people using the Bethesda client of all things being used a shield for the low player counts is obvious and doesn't help at all.
Not to mention the fact that people look at Steam numbers when considering buying, and don't give a shit about some dozens of people that have the Bethesda version. The visible low numbers will just kill new player investment and lead to less and less players over time like it did for LB.
Sadly these kinds of fast paced skill-intensive shooters just do not have a market anymore. Lawbreakers was a really solid game with some great ideas, launched at a fair price point, and still died quick. The last patch that killed off what little remnant there was of a community was another bad move.
UT wants a word with you, game is in alpha and is kicking butt! (and I am dying to play and cant)Arena shooters in 2017 👀
That cretaure creator is great. I'm pretty that's all they are doing.
As you can see that he was replying to something similar said about Lawbreakers, which has incredibly fun and creative gameplay with nice character gameplay diversity. The reasons why the game didn't take off have been discussed multiple times in these threads. That it would have in anyway bad gameplay isn't one of those reasons. And unlike the post they quoted he actually says "I personally think" after playing the game.Overwatch's gameplay is incredibly fun, open to a lot of creativity, and every character offers so much gameplay diversity. it's probably the QA team
I stopped playing OW after a couple of weeks, so for me, what you say holds true. I personally think that OW is one of the most overrated games this generation, up there with the Witcher 3. The poor moment-to-moment gameplay of both of these games was overshadowed by other factors such as characters, story, world-building, etc within the community. However, what worked for the community didn't work for me, at all.

Would anyone argue that the moment to moment gameplay in Skyrim is good? The nearly unanimous consensus is that Skyrim gameplay sucks, yet it enjoyed tremendous success.
