Lifelong consoleplayer needs help with buying a PC.

Ok, so what have i learn and what have i decided to do 😂

I ordered a pretty damn good gamingpc but got cold feet and canceled everything.

I AM a consoleplayer so so deep in my heart, so atleast give the 2 big Dragons their chance to show what the will bring to the table, i have Series X and had all xboxes even though i prefer PlayStation, however i read that Xbox probably will drop to pay for just playing online, that with more storefronts makes Xbox just a little more interesting then PlayStation right now!

I appreciate your support in this thread and for making me clear my mind. My wife probably thinks i belong at some mental hospital..... I can consider myself like almost financial independent, so money is not an issue, but, it just decisions like these that helped me build that Independence.

Over and out 🫡
Good update. Yep, certainly don't buy in if you think you'll have buyers regret.

The option to build or buy a PC will still be there for some time to come.

At this point Xbox Helix might not even come out... And even if it does it will be mistreated by MS and industry just like Series consoles.

Standard PC will be better.

Step 1, prepare your anus

But seriously if you are a console gamer on console today I don't see any reason to buy a PC right now. The right time to do it would be when the next gen of consoles is announced and we know what they are including price and you can evaluate the right decision at that time. It just makes more sense to do it then as an informed decision during the generational transition.

Until then, just enjoy what you have and start saving up money that you could then put towards a PC or the new console whatever you decide.

Unless you want to build the pc as a passion product I wouldn't recommend building one atm. If you live in America you can get pretty good bang for buck on prebuilds from Costco.

I am giving up consoles in the future except Nintendos.

So i am trying to read and learn as much as i can, i dont know that much about all the components etc and it feels like a jungle, and my first question is; i dont need it right now, maybe in 2-3 year, is it smart to wait or is it better to buy one asap? Some say prices will go down but I dont know about that...
The asap window closed a few months ago. Ideally even before crypto initiated the price hike we never went back down from. It was probably the first time ever were buying with some "future proofing" made actually sense and wasn't just a waste of money.
Usually I would always buy something that is just okay, right now, and not high end, great even in a year. Now prices are so fucked that high end budgets of a few years ago gets you entry level steam machine like builts.
If your consoles don't break down, right now wait, and see what makes the most sense when you actually need/want to switch. AI might collapse (imho unlikely) or reach their goals soon (kinda unlikely too, but then we have different problems other than gaming).
With hardware (and software) becoming insanely priced for every industry, the ripple effect of increased costs will eventually hit a lot more than just directly attached stuff like gaming. IT budgets in every company are exploding right now and that cost will get handed down into every product.
