Lifelong consoleplayer needs help with buying a PC.

It's a great time to get into PC Gaming, just for the small price of a reasonable car you can get a mid tier gaming pc that will perform roughly equivalent to a PS5, also, no discs to worry about, there's zero physical games on PC, just think all that space with no clutter of game boxes to worry about, enjoy.

I forgot to mention the fact, you won't pay to play online, but the good news is, within hours you will get harrassed by cheaters so much, you won't even want to play online anymore! it's a win win.
And this helps OP how? or you just thought you'd be a useless troll?

Get a 5080 and lots of ram choom.
5080 is just very expensive. A 5070Ti is more reasonable price wise (and I have a 5080).

Realistically 9070XT is by far best bang for the €, but I don't know how well it works for VR (I am sure friendly neighborhood AI chatbot could help with this).

Really, a pre-built on sale might be the best bet but I am not sure how prices are in SE (or maybe can drive to Denmark or Germany if prices are better there).

I think 5070 with 16GB of system memory would be a better "now" system. You can always add another RAM stick later, but I wonder how long 12GB of VRAM will be relevant...

12GB is the issue here yeah. it's already the minimum spec for some pathtraced games, if it had 16gb it would be the obvious choice. while the 5070ti is a big jump in price over the 5060ti (basically more than double)

Maybe he is in US for World Cup! 😉

Not sure about SE prices so hard to recommend anything. For VR generally Nvidia is better I think so maybe 5070Ti is viable?

Yea Nvidia is typically the go-to for VR. They have much better driver support for that. Infamously the 7000 series from AMD had worse performance than the 6000 series for like almost a year. Mind boggling stuffs

Also bandwidth actually matters in VR. 5090, while I don't recommend actually chasing that, actually showcased generational leap compared to 4090 in VR. Unlike desktop 2D gaming where peoples were not seeing the gains from the monster bandwidth it has.

If you go high resolution HMD, it becomes a monster and has no competition even near it.

I would say this is true for current games, but the small price you pay for the x3D suffix could buy you an addition half gen at the EOL of this machine. More so than any other component.
Depending where you live, the x3d tax is expensive. For example, a 7600x is $199 CAD right now. A 7600x3d is $439 CAD. A 7800x3d is $549 CAD.

In no way are either of the x3d variants worth over 2x the price.

So should everyone wait for SW2, PS5 and XSX to return to their launch prices too?? 🤡
SW2 is the most competitive hardware out there by a mile, and everyone already has a current gen machine. What you said makes no sense. This generation is fine and nobody should be in a hurry to upgrade if you didn't in 2025. He already has his Nintendos, as he said himself, so he's served until 2033.

Yeah, that's a huge price jump. 7600x is a perfectly serviceable chip. While 7800x3D is awesome, it's not $349 more awesome.

Cool. Has nothing to do with the thread.

Congratulations on getting into PC gaming during the best time! 🎉🥳

Very affordable hobby compared to consoles and if a component breaks you'll have no issue getting a replacement straight away. Enjoy!

It is. Good back to your poor 30fps low res gaming.

Lately prices on parts other than memory have fluctuated quite a bit. I purchased a CPU on sale and then the one I actually wanted went on sale. So I returned the first one. Motherboards, I had one in mind, ended up cancelling it and then a much better board went on sale. It's infuriating unless you know exactly what you want/get out of it. That was during Amazon Prime days. You've got to commit to a build and then see what the upgrade path looks like from there. You could wind up with the parts you thought would be a nice upgrade. Unless of course you want an AMD Threadripper then good luck.

If you are gaming on the TV with controller (great experience nowadays btw - I switched from desk to couch OLED years ago) then you will need a keyboard and mouse on occasion to click through menus, look something up, change a Windows setting, etc. I recommend a wireless option that has a trackpad built in. Something like a Logitech K400 would work. I have an Arteck model off Amazon for around $30 and it has been more than enough.

no offense but if this is about the sony lack of physical that dosnt happen till 2028. Considering the current costs of hardware if your wanting to jump to PC woudnt it make sense to wait for prices to drop? The 50 series cards already got some mileage on em. We cant be super super far from the 60 series

Price drops might not happen (anytime soon).

PS5 and Pro will get price increases (most likely), PS6 will be 1000$+...
