They release Asia Japanese version too (for Hongkong and SEA), did you bought region3 DQXI or Japan copy?

Chinese will follow this fall/winter, doesn't know about Korea.

So it sold a lot digitally?
Distribution in Japan was 2.65 millions right?

well by end of 2016, the game had sold just over 500k (physically?) across platforms according to the Famitsu end of year figures.

edit - thought I was in the DQ Builders Thread!!

Was it released in Asia already, and if so, are these included in the 3 million? If no to either of the two, then digital must be about 350k combined.

Edit: or a new shipments as KtSlime suggests.

Dqb2 is exactly the kind of announcements I was criticizing the lack of on Switch until yesterday

So, good job SE

So far, to better explain my point of view about Switch software, the only games that have that "placement" in my mind are Fire emblem and pokemon as second party developed games, SMT HD, DQB2 and Inazuma if confirmed. Mhxx and DQXI too, even if their sales potential has been toned down a lot from initial announcement

DQB sold very well in Asia, maybe better than in the west. In general we Asian gamers are not as graphic whore as the western market.

The rest of that coming from digital seems pretty reasonable to assume.

Nobody expected the PS4 version to sell this well, now its probably the best selling version.

I don't get it so PS4 DQ XI sold 2 million I assume digital included?

Edit: woops read it wrongly. It's PS4 + 3DS. Yeah Around 400k for digital seems right.

No. Shipments of 2.65 million were reported for the first weekend, of which 1.5 million for 3ds and 1.15 for PS4. The 3 million figure announced means 350k or so were added between digital on 3ds and PS4, and extra shipments for PS4 and 3ds to stores in the second week.

And we had an overall estimation of digital being around ~150k for FW (which makes DQXI opening similar to DQVIII), probably 100k for PS4 (which usually has a 10% digital ratio) and 50k for 3DS (which is much lower hovering between 3-5%).
Digital ratio only goes down after launch so anything way beyond 200k is not really possible currently.

It was obvious that with its second physical shipment the game was going to clear 3M, as of now with digital it could be anywhere between and 3.1 and 3.4M so we didn't learn much in fact.

One month left for the end of the embargo.

Everything translated already? If not I don't mind helping as much as I can.

Gen 8 Pokemon in Fall 2018? There is a very SLIM chance for that since this will be the first HD Pokemon from GameFreaks.
I FIRMLY believe that Game Freak has been planning to make Gen VII a short generation and to move on to Gen VIII ASAP from the very beginning. If they aren't aiming for next year, the pacing of reveals and promotions is utterly wacky- the anime's blown through half of Sun and Moon's content in less than three quarters of a year, for instance.

It's not unprecedented for the anime to rush through and then stall though. Remember the 52 weeks/episodes between Gym 7 and Gym 8 in Sinnoh? We had 4 gyms in the space of a year in that saga, pretty much on par with what we have got here.

Here's my question in relation to Nirolak's Road to TGS list; think it's safe to assume the new Atelier game will be on Switch? KT seem very into the Switch and NoA2 is already on it and I would think it runs on the same engine.

We'll know on Tuesday most likely. Also apparently Famitsu will have a Switch software showcase next issue, so it'd be fitting to unveil that the new Atelier is coming to Switch as well.

Without question it'll be on Switch. They're not going to sustain the series on PS4 alone (though I'd question whether they're going to sustain the series at all without a massive break in release schedule).

I'm more interested to see if it still comes to Vita. They made an absolute pigs ear of the port of Firis, but it's the final game in the Trilogy and Gust have still have Vita SKU's for every game up until now.

OT: Glad DQB2 is still coming to a portable. I'd have had to remote play that shit otherwise.

Did the recent Atelier games release simultaneously on PS3/4/Vita or are they still doing the console release first then portable version later?

If it's the later I could see them announcing/releasing a PS4 exclusive Atelier first then a "plus" version on Switch later on.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
From a few articles I've seen, Builders 2 was given an extremely tentative, casual summer-ish 2018 release window.

The last few have been same day launches for ps4/psv (i think).

Judging from this, I'm guessing somewhere between 50k to 70k.

Did the recent Atelier games release simultaneously on PS3/4/Vita or are they still doing the console release first then portable version later?

If it's the later I could see them announcing/releasing a PS4 exclusive Atelier first then a "plus" version on Switch later on.

They stopped doing that with the latest sub-series. This is the third game in the current sub-series, and it will likely be a trilogy, so who knows if they plan on changing up the platforms now(though they did end up cutting out PS3 with the previous game).

Every since the generational transition they've gone PS4/PSV (+ sometimes extra SKU) for most of their titles. I guess they'd finally wrung all the money out of "plus ports" that they could so ended it with Shallie (so Sophie onwards have been multi-plat).

Given Gust are making Nights of Azure 2 for Switch, I see absolutely no reason they won't also put the new Atelier on it too. Like I say, I just wonder whether we'll also get a Vita version (which I suspect will be their final ever Vita release) or if they'll drop it given how much trouble they had getting Firis running.

With that said, they clearly don't need many sales for their ports to turn a profit - iirc things like Atelier Ayesha and Ar no Surge Plus sold ~ 30k domestically and the games kept coming to Vita, so with Koei-Tecmo's porting tools in place I could see it happening.

(But I also suspect that Vita fans are getting tired of the crappy ports too, given the weaker sales of things like Atelier Firis & Blue Reflection).

Good to see Switch holding up for another week. I thought the increased shipment meant 40k weekly but if they keep pumping 80k that would be damn good.

There is next to zero chance they will scale back production. FF is supposed to be the cutting edge next generation game always and XVI will be no exception.

I think you are right tbc.

DQ11 is gonna top DQ9 LTD sooner or later. The Switch version will probably do the trick.

I really hope so!

I also hope the PS4 version pays off in terms of RotW. They're going to milk it in Japan with a Switch version in all likelihood, but it was a lot of investment and necessitated the 3DS version for Japan. I hope Asia (where Sony seems to be handling it) eats this up, in particular. I think the west will do okay with it, but not much better than its done with DQ before. Multiplatform western release could help. (bring me the 3DS version and I'll most happily buy it SE :p)

It's gonna need voice acting at least to do well in the west. I hope Square-Enix are working on that as we speak.

They release Asia Japanese version too (for Hongkong and SEA), did you bought region3 DQXI or Japan copy?

Chinese will follow this fall/winter, doesn't know about Korea.
The JP one.

On average YSO is putting first week sales of Snack World twice as high as that of the original Yokai Watch, not that first week sales matter that much give what L5 wants, but it'd be a good start for the game.

I'd also expect DQXI to have a softer drop than expected and bigger legs, mainly the 3DS version, the game is fantastic and there's a lot to it for old time fans.

I hope they are. As I said above, I don't think they did PS4 because they wanted RotW sales, but I think RotW sales + Switch sales could form a post hoc justification for making that version.

And DQ is generally a really good product and from impressions DQXI is no exception to that rule and is really great itself, so I hope SE does everything to make it sell as much as it can.

I really hope they go all-in on the localization.

Those would be steep drops for saturday releases. Is that a thing with DQ games? Splatoon 2 hold would be great.

Edit: NVM, this is week 3.

That'd be an pretty decent debut for The Snack World (higher than Yokai Watch and Inazuma). Of course it remains to be seen if it's more Yokai Watch, Inazuma Eleven or Little Battlers (which opened pretty decently but had no real staying power) when it comes to legs.

I think there's some interesting discussion to be had regarding Square Enix and the present and future.

Some points I find interesting are

From all top japanese devs, I feel like SE is the one to acknowledge Switch as a major player in the current landscape. Their early ports for some reason don't feel like tests, but rather like they tried to be on time to the party. Sure, Mana and DQH1+2 were tests in a way and I think they were pretty happy with the results,

Their are wrapping up 3ds support and are ready to move on, I don't see SE announcing anything new for 3DS, WiiU, Vita and X1 from this day on (Japan or otherwise).

So this begs the question: how are they going to approach the pieces of hardware they are going to invest their resources on?

Mobile is weak as fuck, Switch is fairly capable but not nearly on par with the PS4 and PS4 with the PRO just got to far away from the switch in terms of power.

.- will we see lost sphere-B-tier-like software and that's it?
.- will they go for a PS3/WiiU style of games to keep up with Switch's lack of power?
.- will they just make exclusive games for each console?

is SE going to downgrade whatever is needed to be donwgraded to have their games on both PS4 and Switch??

I mean, a Kingdom Hearts III switch port day and date with the PS4 version in Japan can be the difference between 350k~500k sales and 700k~1 million sales. Specially in late 2018 or even 2019 when Switch has a healthy fanbase

Quite simply put, speaking strictly about japan, not putting your game on Switch and PS4 is shooting yourself in the foot so I am not sure how SE is going to tackle the issue of power between consoles.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
We already know that SE will bring everything that is possible on the machine to Switch, we also know that other KH3 versions besides the ones already announced arent happening at launch.

JRPGs are a large percentage of SE output - they cant and dont want to only rely on Sony to sell their games, since the Xbox is a non-factor and they are still building up their presence on PC/Steam.

@Predictions

+100k for Snack World would be actually pretty solid...hmm.

I would imagine they either take development shortcuts to get closer to parity or just outright leave effects out of the Switch version.
