I love how racists are so proud of their personal beliefs and yet they're afraid to share them in public. You can clearly tell the great sense of integrity and self respect they have for themselves.

I'd wager a very large segment of the internet Trump machine thinks like this guy. The sad part is that the damage is just as potent if they were 100% uncut frothing racists. The degree of disassociation within people online is staggering.

What's more likely, he was just pretending to be a racist every day for over a year or he was a racist and someone figured out his real life identity causing him to fear for his job and livelihood?
I don't recall his identity being exposed though. Usually someone would just let rip if they knew who he was

Yeah, my guess is that he was contacted by reporters in real life and finally realized that actions have consequences.

I don't follow - what me also me?

You are owning this?

lol no, its just a meme format. "me" presents a sensible opinion while "other me" presents one that tries to ruin things. I'm using it to highlight the comical disparity between HanAssholeSolo's posts and his apology

We don't know if his identity was exposed, I'm just speculating that is the reason for his about face.

You know, I have to admit. I assumed the worst of this guy, but the post actually does read like he's realized the gravity of his mistakes. At the very least, the apology is good enough to make me doubt that his purpose was actively malicious.

Though that makes him seem like someone on 4chan; some dumb kid who just thinks memes are funny and hasn't really thought about their effects. Can you really be like that on The Donald? It's a political forum. I would think that you'd have to be aware that there are people there who possess a serious interest in the subjects discussed.

Pretty sure he's apologizing because he knows he's about to be identified.

He ain't sorry for shit. Only sorry it's about to catch up to him.

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/07/04/politics/kfile-reddit-user-trump-tweet/index.html

(CNN)The Reddit user who initially claimed credit for President Donald Trump's tweet that showed Trump tackling CNN issued an apology Tuesday for the video and other offensive content he posted -- one day after CNN identified the man behind the account and attempted to make contact with him.

Reddit user"HanA**holeSolo" first shared the GIF last Wednesday of Trump pummeling a wrestler with CNN's logo imposed on his face. CNN could find no earlier instance of the GIF. The GIF was later edited into a video with sound and tweeted by the President on Sunday.
On Reddit, "HanA**holeSolo" took credit for inspiring the tweet. Soon after, "HanA**holeSolo's" other posts on Reddit, some of which included racist and anti-Semitic imagery, quickly circulated on social media.

The apology came after CNN's KFile identified the man behind "HanA**holeSolo." Using identifying information that "HanA**holeSolo" posted on Reddit, KFile was able to determine key biographical details, to find the man's name using a Facebook search and ultimately corroborate details he had made available on Reddit.

Of course.

He's just digging a deeper hole. I hope CNN drops this, though. He's doing this all to himself, but if they keep pushing the story, he's going to get himself in boiling water when his info inevitably gets out. Then the same people who felt validated by the GIF in the first place will blame CNN for any firings, break-ups, or inability to find future employment/romance instead of common sense. And since they lack common sense, they'll blow it even further out of proportion as well.

Isn't Reddit the site that only took down the child pornography rings it hosted due to legal threats?

I deeply hope his place of employment finds out about it at the very least. I'd like for this to happen again.

CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.
CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

what a pity

Only when he actually gets named and shamed will he face real consequences for hate speech.

He's got a grain of truth in talking about trolls having low self-worth and spending all their time hating on others behind a keyboard as the only way to feel good about themselves. It is an addiction. I'm sure that's why some trolls on GAF act that way consistently for a while, too.

If CNN hasn't dropped his name already, they're not going to. They get nothing out of making his name public. We'll probably learn his name through someone doing google-fu online. Doesn't sound like CNN had to try particularly hard to track him down.

What? No. Fuck that guy. Words have consequences.

Truth is this guy would celebrate the death of myself and my mother and wife and father and everyone I love as he deems black life to be of no value.

So Fuck turning the other cheek. Fuck him. Fuck everyone that thinks he's a great person. I just wish they'd be open in public with it.

Because someone like him will be the same dude denying a Black person a loan, or promotion or suspending their child from school, or shooting them at a traffic stop. And they'll swear up and down they're not racist.

I hope his name leaks. He deleted all of his Reddit history posts but I'm sure someone at CNN will purposefully leak it.

Yeah, how convenient. So many people in this country can swim in bigotry, make that a touchstone in their lives and use that to harm multitudes, spread dangerous ideologies and support heinous people and all they have to do is write the equivalent of a middle school essay on how "vewy vewy sowwy" they were and all that conscious harm and sometimes even profit they made from being horrendous human beings is forgiven. This guy literally hasn't had to face any consequences beyond spending part of his holiday cleaning up his tracks. Meanwhile, people have to live with the fact that he's added to and grown the community of bigots that he was more than happy to hang with. People have to live with whatever support he and his friends have given to a man who will rob them of their healthcare and/or split them from their families. But it's ok, he'll never do this again at least under the account he scrubbed and got rid of.

Yep. Time to make a new account, one that can't be traced back to him. Goodbye HanAssholeSolo, hello LukeDickheadSkywalker.

no

My fellow redditors, First of all, I would like to apologize to the members of the reddit community for getting this site and this sub embroiled in a controversy that should never have happened. I would also like to apologize for the posts made that were racist, bigoted, and anti-semitic. I am in no way this kind of person, I love and accept people of all walks of life and have done so for my entire life. I am not the person that the media portrays me to be in real life, I was trolling and posting things to get a reaction from the subs on reddit and never meant any of the hateful things I said in those posts. I would never support any kind of violence or actions against others simply for what they believe in, their religion, or the lifestyle they choose to have. Nor would I carry out any violence against anyone based upon that or support anyone who did. As time went on it became an addiction as to how far it could go with the posts that were made. This has been an extreme wake up call to always consider how others may think or feel about what is being said before clicking the submit button anywhere online that an opinion is allowed. Free speech is a right we all have, but it shouldn’t be used in the manner that it was in the posts that were put on this site. Just because you are behind a keyboard doesn’t mean you can’t hurt someone with your words or cause a situation such as this one where a simple meme is misconstrued as calling for violence. I do not advocate violence against the press and the meme I posted was in no way advocating that in any way, shape or form. Our first amendment protects the press from things like violence, and we as American citizens should respect that even if the opinions of the press are not in line with our own. The meme was created purely as satire, it was not meant to be a call to violence against CNN or any other news affiliation. I had no idea anyone would take it and put sound to it and then have it put up on the President’s Twitter feed. It was a prank, nothing more. What the President’s feed showed was not the original post that was posted here, but loaded up somewhere else and sound added to it then sent out on Twitter. I thought it was the original post that was made and that is why I took credit for it. I have the highest respect for the journalist community and they put their lives on the line every day with the jobs that they do in reporting the news. The Internet and social media is capable of many great things, and this is an example of the not so great things that it can do. Trolling to get a reaction out of people is not the best way to make a point, the way to do it is to present your facts in a manner to convey the message that will not invoke anger. To people who troll on the Internet for fun, consider your words and actions conveyed in your message and who it might upset or anger. Put yourself in their shoes before you post it. If you have a problem with trolling it is an addiction just like any other addiction someone can have to something and don’t be embarrassed to ask for help. Trolling is nothing more than bullying a wide audience. Don’t feed your own self-worth based upon inflicting suffering upon others online just because you are behind a keyboard. We as redditors and as Americans are better than this. So to the members of this community, the site, the media (especially CNN), and anyone offended by the posts, again I apologize. This is one individual that you will not see posting hurtful or hateful things in jest online. This is my last post from this account and I wanted to do it on a positive note and hopefully it will heal the controversy that this all caused. Peace. “The more you know yourself, the less judgmental you become” ― Aniekee Tochukwu Ezekiel

What a crock O' shit. I hope this fucker's identity is exposed and he's shamed for the rest of his days.

After posting his apology, "HanA**holeSolo" called CNN's KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, "HanA**holeSolo" sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.

CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. He's not remorseful.

Can't help but think of that anonymous confession on here where someone intentionally failed a kid because he was black. Fuck these people.
