yep. Feels like the console just came out.On top of the fact you can hardly get your hands on a console, it barely has a library of games. It’s still in its infancy.
No i just don't care for scalpersHave you been living in a cave for the past year?
The PS5 Pro seems pointless, especially since all current games seem to be crossgen. We are yet to take advantage of the PS5 at present.
Either way, I am not fussed. I just want to see cheaper GPUs so I can upgrade my PC for guaranteed 4K60. Not even the RTX 3080 is capable of such a feat.
I love people whining about how the PS5 just came out, and the chip shortage, as if this thing is coming out next week.
if psvr2 is not out in next 6 months, it's a fail. This is how I see it:
Q1 2023 PSVR2
Q4 2023 PS5 Pro
First part about PSVR2 is a stupid take. Software needs to be there.if psvr2 is not out in next 6 months, it's a fail.
ps5 pro? dont want it to exist. Even further market segregation
Well not 100% of most rumors come true. I say this comes out 4th quarter 2024.No, the rumor suggests its coming out next year.
Which feels equally absurd as if it were coming out next week.
It's not a stupid take.First part about PSVR2 is a stupid take. Software needs to be there.
Did the PS4 Pro or XB1X cause market segregation? No, they just allowed graphical enhancement of current games.
pro is 1.5 / 2 years away you have time to enjoy ur ps5It's not a stupid take.
You don't release software first without hardware on the market...
As for PRO. We all just got ps5 recently and not even played more than few games designed purely for it. Pro now would be such a bs move
That depends on the scope of the game and the complexity of the lighting pipeline. How many RT features would the game try to implement when bandwidth will still be a problem? And saying "allow basic raytracing without tanking performance" is absolutely underestimating the complexity of RT. We should stop thinking that problems today will be fixed tomorrow. That's being very shortsighted. The problems today have been problems for many generations (i.e. proper self-occlusion and shadows per-light source, hair, foliage, FX without using 2D sprite cards, etc..)i think Sony is very good at efficiencies within a console. They get more for less,- similar to apple design philosophy. I think the new sony raytracing patent will allow basic raytracing without tanking performance by:
-reducing resolution
-reducing framerate
and be able to sustain at least 4K 30fps. (60fps might still be hard to do). We will see.
True but aren't they saying 2026 for the chip shortage to be over?True but who, knows where we will be in two years time
Metro Exodus with their global illumination, Ratchet and Clank and Spider-man's reflectionsDoes anyone know any games where Raytracing for PS5 and XsX|S really stands out? It seems so subtle to me.
We must have been serrated at birth lol. Agree 100% with all of this.Choice is good.
Personally I would have purchased a more premium, higher price point SKU at launch if that was an option. I'll bet there are a number of enthusiasts out there that don't wanna go the PC route that feel the same.
With that being said I don't believe we have actually seen games released that take full advantage of the current hardware feature set. That is certainly more than true for the Series X. Until then it would be great to get my hands on a Pro tier device with the power to brute force these cross-gen and last-gen games. Microsoft probably have the easier job with a Pro tier Series device as they don't have the same hardware based back compatibility constraints as Sony.
I don't expect any changes on the CPU side of things but give me all the GPU you can fit on the die, no disabled CU (I'm looking at you Microsoft o.o), more RAM at a higher bandwidth and more capable RT performance and I am good. Add to that a proper implementation at system level of DLSS or XeSS equivalent (not FSR) and I'll gleefully give you my money. That isn't too much to ask is it?
That was always going to be the case, and I would argue ray-tracing is still in its infancy - even on PC.Does anyone know any games where Raytracing for PS5 and XsX|S really stands out? It seems so subtle to me.
Wishful thinking. The PS5 Pro (if there even is one) is not going to be a totally different architecture so don't expect PS6 performance (whatever that may be).I for one am excited about the possibility of a PS5 pro. The PS5 is already a good value, as for $500 there is no comparable gaming PC. I know that it does not compete with current gen video cards performance wise, but that isn't a fair comparison with regard to cost or power draw. If done properly, a PS5 pro unit that could beast through and live up to the 4k60 level we all want seems like it could be worth it.
Speaking of VR hardware...It's not a stupid take.

I will ignore the stupidly arrogant parts of your post.Lol.
You can have a 100TF GPU with 128GB of RAM, if a dev chooses graphical fidelity over fps, you will still be stuck with 30 and 60fps. Are you new here?
We haven't reached the potential of PS5 yet, not even close.
By the time that happens, let's say next year, the RTX 20 series will be 5 years old. That was always going to be the case, and I would argue ray-tracing is still in its infancy - even on PC.
And it's going to be years before most studios completely change their current lighting pipelines for ray-tracing. But they'll still need to factor in legacy GPUs.
The PS5 doesn’t aim to compete with insanely over priced enthusiast graphics cards.By the time that happens, let's say next year, the RTX 20 series will be 5 years old.
I was responding to the part where they need to factor in legacy non-RT gpus. The PS5 doesn’t aim to compete with insanely over priced enthusiast graphics cards.

If they make a ps5 pro, we will have performance plus quality mode, as the base ps5 will still need to run the games. That would be great.
You should buy them up and sell on eBay international….$profitps5pro and XSX pro will be needed in 2024+ when games will be really demanding , you can forget about 4k high details on the base consoles , they will either have to lower the resolution or lower the settings , just looks at a game like the witcher 3 how it looks on the ps4 compared to pc medium-high settings
and those that cant find a ps5 you can come in my country Romania to buy , since they released they never went out of stock
they are around 800 euro , i dont have that kind of money , i barely manged to get a ps5 and XSX for meYou should buy them up and sell on eBay international….$profit
Ahh you get gouged to start with. Shamethey are around 800 euro , i dont have that kind of money , i barely manged to get a ps5 and XSX for me
