GTA V is a iving breathing world and most importantly NOT A STEALTH ACTION GAME THAT GIVES US THREE LOCATIONS TO USE THE GREATEST SOLDIER IN WORLD HISTORY. Stop bringing up some of the best open world games in gaming history as examples.

TL;DR I'm disappointed because more locations were alluded to and not included in the final game. Then again if the huge spoiler is true it makes sense.
Oh ok, now that you've clarified I agree with what you say, I wouldn't vilify MGSV for there not being more maps but I was certainly disappointed that there wasn't.

Add the FOBs and, in a month (January for us, PC players) a multiplayer mode. Well, if this is not worth 60 bucks, I don't know what game is worth this price.
Volume has over 100 areas and an infinite number of user generated areas including the docks from MGS1! That game must be absolutely priceless!

It's dumb to demand more locations in a stealth action game? WAT? As of right now, this game gets a pass because it's Kojima's last game everyone else that does pulls this crap, especially given the secretive nature of around this entire game, is vilified. GTA V is an entirely different game so miss us with a comparison. The Witcher 3 is an entirely different game so miss us with the comparison.
Your meltdown is hilariously dumb. First off, you have no idea what the Africa or Afghanistan areas are like, second of all you have no idea what biomes are featured in either of those areas, third the game is the biggest most feature packed Metal Gear Solid yet. It's highly likely that there is more variety in these two locations than most "stealth action games". The Witcher 3 comparison is to show how inane it is to base content on number of locations. A game can have 1 single location with numerous biomes and a huge amount of content, another game can have a large number of locations with very little content. Currently you only know the hard facts that there are 2 main locations, but you do not know the nuances that are within these large locations and you're having a meltdown because of it. That is dumb.

Yes, I do have an idea of what the areas are like because there are plenty of videos over the years discussing them. Second, fucking biomes? I love Metal Gear as much as the next person but you're talking about biomes.... LOOOOOOOOOOL U MAD.

It is not dumb to criticize a game that's apparently leaked about the number of locations after an extensive highly secret campaign.

Someone with the strategy guide/game prove me wrong... please? It's reviewers here that could very easily confirm the to do list/best parts of each location, all three of them. Hit me with a few points about these locations. I'll gladly take the loss if I'm wrong but if I'm not.... Let's just hope I'm not wrong.

So are the spoilers real or a troll now? What is going on?

There is much more evidence of the spoilers being true but there are a few people here desperate to prove otherwise. Nothing is 100% but for now what we've seen has a lot more credibility as being accurate than not.

I'm sure we all wish there was at least another map, but it's hard to demand more when we've never seen a stealth game done on this scale, Actual bases have already been confirmed to be tightly designed like the older MGS games but with a degree of openness and freedom never seen in the genre. Just as its unfair to compare to other open world titles, it's unfair to compare this to any other stealth game. If we're being real about things I've yet to see another stealth game offering the same value proposition on display here. 200 missions, all approachable in countless ways, an entire base management/invasion multiplayer system and a traditional multiplayer mode a month after launch. There seems to be an incredible amount of content here to experience, you just can't let the idea of 2 maps cloud your perception.

Regardless, it's pretty incredible that this supposed super secret ending it still not leaked yet. I thought some of it would be disappointed fans, but some of what they say does make sense. There's a lot of details and context missing from the spoilers. Guess we'll soon find out for ourselves.

Man, there's this one game I played. It only has one location and people keep saying that's ok because one part of it is an armory, another is an office and then there's even this big snow-field between two (IDENTICAL lmao) towers that you go through. I laugh every time I see someone drop money on and enjoy that game. I think it was called Metal Gear Solid or some shit like that. Clearly the only value proposition in a game is how many locations there are. Gameplay? Who cares!

So, the big explanation for why Big Boss committed all those war crimes is, he didn't commit them.

Uh ok lol.

The spoilers are about as fake as the guide that people were scrambling to prove wasn't real. ;)

It is when those two locations are relatively huge and varied with the way bases are designed.

Just saw Greg play a mission where he eavesdropped on a language specialist teaching his Russian buddy how to say "I spent last night with your girlfriend."

Good ole' Metal Gear.

Well he still did war crimes in MG 2 so... let's say that Kojima is trying to make BB less a bad guy than what we supposed until now!

Does anybody have a video of the opening title screen? I'm curious how it stacks up against the awesome MGS3 title screen.

The opening title screen is a hospital room. Flower petals and a ceiling fan, if I recall correctly. Dunno if a video for it is floating around.

If I didn't want the collector's edition so bad I would have already picked this game up yesterday :(

Would have made not worrying about checking this thread easier as I don't know what to believe anymore. The mind games are too strong.

He did. There are child soldiers in Zanzibar which is commanded by Big Boss.

He also pretty much explicitly holds the world as a nuclear hostage in MG2.

Your posts just keep getting worse and more dumb.

Spainkiller literally replied on the last page that there is one section where you climb up a mountain and visit a forest with a waterfall and a mansion.

My posts and criticism are valid until proven wrong. It's a wee bit early to dismiss my valid criticisms because you don't like them. That's dope and great that a forest with a waterfall and mansion exist but the game is $60 and clouded in secrecy. Someone with a strategy guide could easily prove me wrong at which time, I'll gladly take the loss.

I'm hoping the missions on Mother Base are extensive outside of shooting and finding diamonds.

Your critism was arbitrary based on the number of locations and not their content. I stand by what I said.

I don't think it's a valid criticism. Most people don't normally factor the amount of locations when figuring out the value. If you do, go right on ahead, but most people don't.

I agree, it's not the locations... People just wanted to play in the snow, the swamp, the city etc.

It's weird because MGS was never really all about the different locations. MGS1, you were only in Shadow Moses either in the facility or outside in the snow. In MGS2, some of it was on the tanker, the rest was on Big Shell. MGS3 was mostly in the "jungles" of Russia with a few detours through different places like mountain passes, caves, mangroves, and such. MGS4 was the one that had different locations proper, but, to me, felt disjointed.

Does anyone know of a link to Phantom Pain's intro? It was so baddass. It reminds me of an 80's horror movie.
Waking up in the hospital to the sound of Midge Ure's version of Man Who Sold the World. Having the nurse and doctor murdered shortly there after.
Fucking beautiful.

Just because you "feel" certain things based on fragmented promotional material and uncontextualized leaks doesn't make your criticisms "valid" at all. There is nothing "valid" about it, especially since you haven't played the game in any shape or form.

But most importantly: a multitude of people who actually have played it (and not only that, but they have also finished it and are paid professionals who have a better understanding of quality in video games than you) have continuously and consistently told you that your worries are superficial, unfounded and based on unjustified speculation.

In other words: (and I do beg your pardon) shut the hell up, man. You're creating drama for the sake of drama, in order to give yourself the illusion that you have some sort of control of this whole spoilered situation. Which is ironic, as the only real way to take control over this, is to stay calm, forget about it, get the game as soon as it becomes available to you, and play it like a normal person. You know, in order to truly soak in the narrative (and its consequences to your fandom) and thusly have proper arguments and properly constructed opinions to argue with.

If you still want to discuss things you can't possible be knowledgeable about, be my guest, but don't act offended when people tell you to quit your whinin'.

To reiterate:

3 (technically four but we cannot revisit the hospital afterwards) locations
12 cassette tapes
Bonus tech from fultoned Skullls.

=

$60

If this wasn't Kojima we'd vilify the producer of this game. Kojima gets a pass but damn if this value proposition does not seem off.......

Your math is way off.

I love Metal Gear as much as the next person but you're talking about biomes.... LOOOOOOOOOOL U MAD.

Are you counting reviews as well in that, no shots at any reviewer at all, equation?

*EDIT for ^^ clarification*

I remember reading reviews that are not allowed to mention spoil things. I am offended about the location issue but hopefully this game makes up for it somehow.

Like I said, we'll see by next Wednesday what was correct and incorrect. Criticizing something when data exists to back up the criticism does not create reckless drama.

Sample criticism: If someone specs out Mother Base and has the power to send troops on missions then this should open the game up dramatically. Then again, this gets into heavier stuff that derails this thread and that is not my intention AT ALL.

Plenty of in-game content/revelvations are spoiled at this point including the strategy guide.

I'll do my best to forget about all of my criticisms of the game including/especially the locations next week. This week I'm hurt dammit. All this secrecy and... this is the result.

TL;DR please let me be wrong because I'm coming back with memento mori wearing an FTW championship belt if I'm right.

Anyone knows if Sony will ban people for play the game before the release date?

One question, is Zero's VA the same as in MGS3?
He doesn't have to answer that. We've known for a while that Zero's old VA was offered to return but had disagreements about pay and we heard a different voice in the Elegia trailer. I don't think anyone outside of those who have played it know the new actor's name yet, though.

No idea, I think he said that Konami weren't going to pay him enough, but there was a voice in trailers I immediately thought was Zero and sounded pretty much just like him.

No. James Piddock did not return to voice Zero in TPP. He considered Konami's offer an "insult" regarding payment. He also said that whoever believes Hayter was removed because Sutherland would provide better acting and face motion capture is an idiot.

Well there's not really any Online features working right now apparently, so unless you're streaming it, there's probably nothing they would do about it.
