Perfect time to upgrade.

11000/900 series should be out, and the next wave of Intel processors, Skylake, hits the market. That includes DDR4 and PCI-e 4.0 support at 14nm.

HNNNNGGGG

Maxwell is coming also, that should blow the lid off of "next-gen" games.

Did I mention how fantastic the hand and fp body models are in this?
All those polygons...

7970 + Sandy Bridge already blow the lid off of next-gen consoles. Now we are working on 4k 60FPS

Monitor industry needs to catch up.

Do we know when in 2015 Skylake is coming? If it's at the start of the year I might wait for it, otherwise I'll probably upgrade in a year or so. My 570 GTX is starting to feel the pain.

No idea, everything is super early right now.

I might just upgrade GPUs in 2014 and CPU/Mobo/DDR4 in 2015.

OC'd Sandy Bridge should have no problems carrying me through the entire generation, let alone through 2015. What's interesting is an i7 with HT will actually be useful in the next generation, now it is a borderline waste of money.

Looks great.I will probably upgrade my PC just for this game; something I haven't done in years.

And did I read that correctly, none of the ships are exclusive to backers? Meaning everything can be obtained "ingame". I'd like to know because I'd like to pledge but I'm unsure which package to choose.

That Mylene video... Oh god. I was tempted to click on "flag as inappropriate" because of the things that happened to me when I watched it.

Loving the Cutlass model. Is it just me, or does it look like you could strap a Container to the belly of that ship? It kind of reminds me of those specialised heavy duty lifter choppers. Only, as a spaceship and actually goodlooking. Verrrry good. Ohgoditshappeningagain.

My plan as well. GPUs when TSMC gets their 20nm process on the way, and CPU/mobo/RAM when Skylake and DDR4 hits.

They lied about minimum specs! I can play totally fine on my laptop, although at 1024x768, and at low with an FPS of about 15 :D

No, seriously, I need to get a new PC :(

I've not been able to login all morning, part of me is irritated by all the screenies and GIFs in this thread.

I'm still enjoying it by proxy though so keep 'em coming.

Like others I think this game will be the perfect time to upgrade my PC, I may even start saving already so I can splurge.

Can someone explain to me how the pricing works?

You'll have to pay for the game, then also pay for ships and additional modules?

No, ships and additional stuff are just rewards for pledging more. You will be able to buy everything with ingame credits when game launches.

Also, I think I am gonna post on their forums about them using AREA lights in the hangars. It would reall yhelp the scenes pop more and actually have proper specular reflections.

I wouldnt be surprised if they were already using area lights. I'll test it when they let me log in xD Especially on those control panels.

The download speed is slow for everyone? I feel like download Prophecy Secret Operations with GetRight in 1999.

Back to normal speed. My connection is shit today. I hope everything is ok at night, when I go home from work.

Yesterday night (roughly 12 hours ago) I got 9MB/s and upwards.

I do suspect they installed some servers in and for Germany, since we're the second largest customer base IIRC. So getting those speeds at 3 in the morning on a weekday when all of Germany is asleep makes sense, kinda.

All I've got so far is "File access is not authorized" when I click download installer.

I couldn't download from my work, but when I used a proxy running at my home it worked instantly. Very weird.
You are not missing much for the moment, 5 hours of login timeout so far...

While I have no interest in playing a hardcore space combat sim. I am happy for those that do. This shit looks incredible and is a great argument for crowdfunding.

what still amazes me is the amount of dollars with so few unique backers. It really shows how passionate the space sim PC crowd is.

picked up the freelancer, constellation and cutlass today since none of my other pledge ships were viewable in hangar yet. made a video and some pics below. I'm really impressed so far given this is an unoptimized pre pre pre pre alpha version.

Holy shit.

Seems like I'll be building a new pc in 2014 or whenever this is out.
The only thing I don't like is the poor image quality in the video (and the poor cockpit textures in many of the screenshots in this thread, some really low res ones in there for some reason)

The amount of detail is all ready stunning even in the video standing outside your ship seeing the control panel with all the lights. Goddamn this game is going to be amazing.

The visibility inside the cockpit is huuge. Soo good. Even in my aurora.

Game runs smoothly 50 fps in max settings in my kinda medium to good pc.

I cannot seem to get into the back area of the aurora though. All i see is a pillow but still :p
