After a re-read it says I can't mention anything in "coverage" of the game, but I think I should still be safer than sorry. So... Fa-who know? Never heard of him! (NDA expires earlyish next Thurs. night, not that that helps a lot -_-)

It's pretty funny that you're under NDA when just about everything about this game is known.

Does the full game have compressed music/sound like the demo? Crap...

Someone here ripped it directly from the cart and it didn't sound much better.

I know, hey? By putting down my Japanese copy and picking up the NA one I've instantly become unable to speak about 3/4 of the things people care about. -_-

*reaches back toward Japanese 3DS*

Should have included an option to turn off the 3DS speaker tuning like FE:A.

.... wat?!? Lemme try this out tonight!

holy shit. I just tried that and man this game sounds kinda real bad through headphones. But that's what I mean, I think these songs might have been put through some filter that exaggerates highs and neuters lows, to work well with the 3DS's tiny little tinny speakers. I'm probably wrong though.

I hadn't considered that maybe it's because I'm playing the demo but the recordings from the full game hardly sound any better...

oh. that's actually a thing?

sweet. my asspull is vindicated

Yeah, the music is more compressed than your average goomba after Mario's morning stroll.

Ah well, oh...sorry. I guess I'll hold that until next week heh.

Have fun!

Gentlemen, I bring you a question of the highest importance:

Which game has the best Mute City remix?
They're all good, but I still like the Melee one the most. Probably because it was the first time I'd ever heard the song, I guess.

Also, for the record, I generally consider Maryland the most-Southern of the Northern states, partly because we never joined the Confederates. Although "Mid-Atlantic" is a good way to describe it, too.

"Settle it in Smash" is too competitive, people play these games to mindlessly mash buttons and blow each other up. I think Nintendo is losing understanding of what their fans want.

It didn't take long time for people to drive by and shitposts. Come on and stop trying to create a hostile environment. We don't need it right now.

Just from the demo, I can really hear the audio compression, but I though it was more the 3DS speakers than anything.

I disagree, let's settle it in Smash.

Oh, I thought he was kidding.

So um new topic: How quick do you think you'll unlock all the characters? I want to try and get everyone in 2 hours tops :p

The music's loud as shit to me in the demo, though given the lower audio quality on my new Smash XL (<33) I guess it might be more noticeable there when I get the game.

Hm, question: are the Smash demo and full game completely separate entities, or does buying the full version simply provide a key to expedite the download (like many PSN demos)? Obviously I'd prefer the latter but I have my doubts.

I don't have the game, but I don't think it'll take more than 2 hours to go through 120 matches by KOing yourself.

You can't preorder thia game on the eshop can you? It'd be so cool if it could work like the MK8 DLC, but I doubt that's gonna happen.

Gonna unlock the characters the hard way so probably atlease a day or 2. Really missed the challenger approaching screen from brawl since I played through subspace.

Yeah I'm in no rush to unlock all the characters since I mostly want to play as Mega Man, Pac-Man, and Sonic. I've been playing as Mega Man against level 9 CPUs a ton since the Platinum demo launched and have gotten pretty good as him, but I really need to keep practicing if I want to stand a chance against human opponents.

Didn't let me when I wanted to buy on the eShop.

Bah. Figures. It's going to suck waiting for this to download at midnight.

I'm also going to unlock the characters the good ol' fashion way by just playing through classic and the like. I feel the same way about the SSE robbing me of the challenger approaching fights.

I think I'm getting bored of Smash 4... I'm considering going back to PM soon

People tend to be overly attached to a game while it's still new and everyone's hyped. It's probably for the best just to keep real opinions (if negative) away from the OT for a couple weeks. Smash fans are also pretty divided in general, so any 'I like this one better than that one' always has the chance to open the can of worms.

No, real opinions positive or negative are 100% welcome here. There's no benefit to having the thread be an echo chamber. I think/hope most of us are adults here. That being said, how one presents their opinion (both sides) can have a big influence on the readability of the thread. Like (as one example) I can understand some potential concerns about VI/Rage but some posts during that time period read like freakouts and made the thread near unreadable. Even if things don't change for the better (which is assuming things are even bad now :p) I don't get why saying things are early is something to be frowned upon when I feel I can say the same when discussing or thinking about the metagame of any new fighting game?

Anyway being bored of a game after less than two weeks is certainly a reasonable opinion one can have - I hope nobody is giving you too much shit for it. However, I don't think it's unusual that some find that opinion weird though. I don't tend to become bored with fighting games after a matter of weeks unless I think the game is outright BAD though so when I hear someone say something of the sort, that's the sentiment that I feel is being expressed. That may or may not be fair though.

The idea that everyone wants the game X to play like Melee is a bit of a tired meme and I wish people would think a little more before they say as much. However, whenever I see people saying (not saying this applies to you two but the following statements come up VERY frequently still) "why doesn't Sakurai design game X like like Melee, EVERYBODY loved it the way it was" demonstrates a lack of perspective that is frustrating. Even amongst fighting game series that have had entries that many agreed weren't "up to snuff", or had entries that all played super different from each other there doesn't seem to be the degree of animosity that sometimes leads to down right toxic conversations. Maybe I've missed them but there doesn't seem to be any significant, recurrent strife between Street Fighter 3 and Street Fighter 4 players despite how different those game play. I'll never understand why its a thing with Smash.

As an aside, I will say, if Melee remains the headliner game of the competitive community in 2016 (at Evo 2016 over Smash 4), it better be because we've been able to objectively (or as close as possible) discern that Smash 4 is an AWFUL game. Individual preferences of Melee over Smash 4 are 1000% fine but at that community level it becomes a bit embarrassing (again assuming Smash 4 doesn't turn out to be super shitty).

They're separate entities.

but shotgun kiss was in brawl and it's a mid tier gx song at best

I wanna see what you consider high tier :p

Casino Palace, Sand Ocean, Fire Field. Holy trifecta.

Oh shit. Now I'm re listening to this OST. It's chock full of more good shit than I even remembered. Aeropolis. Green Plant. LIGHTNING. God damn.

That blower gun from legend of zelda is just too good and funny to use

I've loved every Smash item to date except that. It's not because of my anti-SS bias (I love the Beetle), but it's far too cheap for my liking.

Like, cheaper than Super Sonic FS cheap. It's just so easy.

I was :p

And hopefully in less than an hour I plan to do that first

Gotta unlock fast guys!

I thought about unlocking them through classic mode as well (I assume that's what you mean by "hard way") but I don't know, I guess I'll do that later to unlock some custom moves.

...I swear you change you avatar every day now!

Been playing classic mode. Never ever pick a Zelda stage in classic because 9 out of 10 times it's going to be Spirit Train and that level is by far one of the worst levels ever if you're just trying to clear classic mode. If you want to have zany multiplayer fun with your friends, sure, it's good for that. But when you're trying to get to Master Core and you can't die a whole lot, having the train completely disappear out from under you while you fly to your death sure gets frustrating.

If you're not a fan of really intrusive gimmcks, 3DS has possibly one of the worst stage rosters in the series. I'm happy there's Omega Mode, but it also kills stage variety.

How to completely break the game and kill master core easy:
1) Learn some dodge patterns, you gonna need them.
2) Get Link's Custom B 2
3) Get some swords that increase attack
4) Get the +7 -40 sword. It'll have a critical hit effect.
5) Equip all of the above.
You now have an arrow that'll do about 30% when charged, equipment to do hella damage, and a piece of equipment that triples damage 20% of the time. You will KO almost anything within 5 hits. I can tell you with no ego, this is the finest sword in the game. If on your journey, you should encounter God, God will be cut.

Yeah it's way too OP.

It's an item from Skyward Sword which is based off an item from The Minish Cap, and if we're adding item from The Minish Cap to Smash, they should have added Mole Mitts, amirite?
