Senate Democrats deployed a dramatic 11th hour maneuver to deny confirmation votes of two of President Donald Trump's Cabinet picks Tuesday, arguing that those nominees had lied to them.

Senators were set to vote on Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) to lead the Department of Health and Human Services and Steve Mnuchin to lead the Treasury Department.

By not showing up for the votes, Democrats denied Republicans the quorum they needed to move forward with confirmation. At least one Democrat needs to be present for the vote to happen.

They know their zombies don't care about the hypocrisy and will eat up their absurd attacks on the dems. They can say whatever they want. It's infuriating.

And then accuse the right of fake news. Its enough to make me pull my hair out.

Good! Trump will not work with anyone, unlike Obama who paid the price for it. So Democrats have to pick their battles and obstruct his stupidest ideas. There are not many good ideas to work with, so I hope that they stand strong in opposition.

You have to understand how brainwashed these people are. All it's about is "America America". They don't understand how things work. Trump can feed any line he wants and they will eat it up without thinking.

It's sad how people don't take the time to sit down and get all the facts of what's going on or even take things into context. He's a republican so that's good enough.

They're late to the party, but I hope they stick around. Don't condone ANY of this shit. This is not the time to play nice.

Why they are not boycotting all of them?

I think they were feeling him out a little but we've blown way past the threshold of reasonable cooperation in the past week. Plus there is the precedent of if they block everything then the next Dem president is not going to have a cabinet at all.

The republican party has proven that they want Dems out of the way, they don't give a fuck about Dems opinion.

Atleast have a spine, the people will support you.

Expect somebody like Manchin to ruin this.

Honestly there isn't a good reason to boycott literally all of them. Some of them are fine choices, or at the least the best you can hope for under any Republican president, much less Trump.

The Voting for Jeff Sessions is currently in progress. All Dems are voting a firm NO.

Dianne Feinstein gave a supremely scathing review of Sessions and the Trump Admin about an hour ago that needs to be seen and heard about how utterly unqualified Sessions is for the job. And then listen to the man to her right say how much of a great respectful man he is.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HORiDWC5gIo

- Jeff sessions being a yes man
- Unconstitutional Immigration ban
- Trumps petty reactions being alarming and dangerous
- Trump being a danger to women, and reproductive rights.
- Violation of civil liberties
- His support for torture and unlawful imprisonment
- Praising Sally Yates for disobeying the OE "A spine of steel"

that would be really surprising, because there are guys like Manchin who I am sure will vote for Sessions - partly because of next year's elections, but also because a lot of Dem Senators are personally friendly with Sessions.

If Schumer was able to get his entire caucus to vote no on Sessions, that would be a hell of a feat.

Should've boycotted the major ones

All they've passed is SecDef and Homeland Security, right? Those really were cases where they genuinely wouldn't have gotten anyone better, and they give them a bit of cover to say it wasn't just hatred of Trump that motivating future boycotts.

That said, everyone remaining needs to be resisted to the maximum extent possible. Price, Mnuchin, DeVos, Sessions, and Tillerson are all unacceptable, and anyone who shows up for any of them should get unending shit for it (particularly Sessions, given recent events)

Edit: Guess Tillerson is out of committee as of yesterday. Fuuuuuck that

The truth doesn't matter any more. We're post truth. The only thing that matters is convincing enough people that someone else is wrong.

Well the voting started only a few hours ago, and so far the Dems that have spoken have all voted no. So it's still to see.

Tons of Republicans acting butthurt like this is the most irresponsible abnormal thing in history on twitter. Nearly everyone is just responding: "Merick Garland."

The fact that it's only been a week is fucking unbelievable.
