I wondered how this was actually. I don't think I could make it through a horror game in VR.
I already said it once in the thread, but FUCK Outlast with VR. It's giving me palpitations just thinking about it.

Until Dawn better be good on that PS4 VR!
Damn beaten.
wow I just checked into this thread and thought GDC would start later (like a week). Nice to know that I'll have to stay up today watching Sony's conference. :]
Isn't a new Siren game rumored to be in development?
Siren on PS4 VR.
That would be an instant buy for me.
nah, thats already announced
Asked if there was any game he would personally like to make, Toyama stated, "I've worked on horror games for so long, so I accumulate a lot of ideas that would be good in a horror game. So I would like to make another horror game."
3. — "It's a staple, but I'd like to make an adventure epic in a vast imaginary world. User communication is becoming a standard feature, but I'd like to have people having fun sharing their experiences of what they felt or saw rather than just items or parameters. That, or something you can clear in a few hours, like a first person supernatural nightmare experience."
Director has said he wants to do horror again. Not sure if he's making it in parallell to Gravity Rush 2.Isn't a new Siren game rumored to be in development?

I could see horror VR games giving people heartattacks
Of course, also SLI actually creates latency for VR. Case in point, a demo released the other day for the Rift called Kite and Lightning Station was giving someone frame dips all over the place on a 780 SLI setup, whereas my modest 7850 was giving me a rock solid 60 the whole time. I don't really know why SLI or Crossfire causes these issues but it seems like a single dedicated gpu is much better for VR right now.
Spiders man, not even once.Someone should make VR game in which you are standing/sitting in a room, your body is optionally overlayed with the textures that PSCamera/Kinect is seeing of you, and then add to that room spiders... snakes... rats... moving not only around the room but also climbing on to you. Hand movement controlled by PSmove/Hydra, detecting hits on creatures, throwing them away. But you cannot win.
/that moment when spider legs go across our eyes...
yikes. GAF just 504'd on me twice.

Couldn't sleep? I swear you said goodnight earlier...a horror game with a budget on Oculus Rift would be awesome
Seconded, I've been thinking about this since I saw Outlast running on Oculus. This could be a legitimate concern developers may have to think about as VR technology advances into presence, given that some people actually can be scared to death (stress cardiomyopathy) in times of extreme stress. With horror movies and games on TV screens, I think there's a reasonable enough barrier to total immersion that people are generally not going to reach that level of stress to trigger a health scare. But when given a traumatic experience in the state of presence, where you actually feel like you're in that virtual place, that's new territory for us, and I wonder if our brains will be able stop a fight-or-flight adrenaline surge that can be dangerous for some people.
I don't mean to be fear mongering (no pun intended) about the "dangers" of VR + horror, I just think it has the potential to be a valid concern with this new technology - much more so than in traditional entertainment experiences, considering the new level of immersion with VR.

never all I did was leave the studio

I only just woke up. It's starting at 9AM for me.Must. Stay. Awake.
Horror games/movies rarely get to me. That's why VR is so exciting for the genre. Especially since I'm a huge Alien fan. Other Hollywood classics could be insane with VR too. Imagine going toe to to with Godzilla or exploring Jurassic Park with a perfect sense of scale.I will happily play on a TV... or an even smaller screen. I'm a wuss with horror titles.
Believe me guys, in a few hours we will live in a world where VR with PS4 will be an official promise. Exciting times, huh? I hope GAF does not crash too hard.

(1st post, really excited lol.) Anyways I'm a huge fan of VR, even tho I've never tried it. I really hope this succeeds on a decent scale, so that VR does have a future and it doesn't fall down the path of irrelevancy like it did in the 90's after it failed. I want Sony and Oculus to continue investing into this technology so it gets better and better, to the extent that the screens and sensors will be cheap and good enough that the headsets no longer receive a bump in them when they upgrade. Instead the headsets would be bundled with other tools that help you immerse yourself into the game, like, for example, control input, an attachment that would send vibrations to your body so you can feel, etc.
I know it sounds bizarre but ever since a kid I've always envied imaginary worlds that I saw in animations, video games, and movies. I've always felt our world was boring and uninteresting in comparison, and let's face it, life gets so hectic for people sometimes I feel as tho some people would flock at the chance to enter another reality, even for a moment, I know I would. Anyways what I'm hoping for out of the first iteration of this product is the following:
-$300 enthusiast headset. PS VR+ (1080P Super AMOLED, PS Move, PS EYE, head-tracking, very low latency.)
-$150 Casual's headset PS VR (900P LED, headtracking, low latency.)
-An action adventure game built ground up for VR, think like SOTC, Attack on titan scale.)
- All the major sport titles getting a VR Mode.
- A PS4 bundled with a casual headset for $500.
- A PS4 bundled with PS VR+ for $600.
-Sony makes a small profit on the hardware, $2-$5.
-VR games with late life PS3 graphics(which is fine for VR, of course the games will have MUCH higher res textures, just less effects and polygons and more AA), thus reducing the development costs.
-A decent advertising push.
- SAO
yeah, that sounds pretty awesome.
I hope all this ends with a and not a 'f-ckkkkkk-trolli-yosp!!!'
okBelieve me guys

To be fair there's not way GAF will stay up if VR indeed does happen.
