More like VLC, Plex, emulators, and other multimedia apps
does VLC have a WinRT app? Because unless the program is explicitly written for that frame work it will not just magically work on xbox. I don't know of a single RT emulator.

If this means my GF can have OutColdPlayer streaming our Google Music collection on the TV via the 360, she's gonna lose her shit.

Well, the Xbox currently supports Mouse and Keyboard, so things like Office could possibly work.

Any chance of Plex, XBMC and VLC?

All they have to do is recompile for xbox...no extra coding (though they can)...game over playstation
Why would it come down? This is another reason to keep it up...either way i don't personally care but it will be a big deal for others.
This could be a big deal but let's not get crazy dude.
$299 Xbox one with no kinect and no live paywall will save the xbox one. I bet we will get some form of a "do over" at e3!

Not yet. They have an app that is compiled for x86 CPUs with the Windows RT version to follow. ARM version will also apply to Windows Phone.
Yeah, because the Windows App Store is a treasure trove of quality applications. I'm sure Sony is freaking out, now people can play Dots on their XB1.
Pay wall must be coming down surely. Just saving it for a big E3 announcement.
WinRT is a computing environment...windows rt is an operating system
VLC has a winrt app and it is buggy but works
No chance in hell
? what's that?
? what's that?
They also announced modern touch-based Office for Windows so why not put it on Xbox One. If someone wants to use one of their 5 Office 365 devices for Xbox why not? PowerPoint presentations with Kinect.
Could someone explain what kind of benefits we can expect? Does Windows 8 have any apps that could have practical use on the XBO which aren't already on it? For example I don't think Office would be of much use on the console. Help me understand what the big deal is here.
If SnesX gets ported, this is bomba of the forevers.
Oh yeah Sony, you might have 32 ROPS...
But do you have 32 BITS!!
Don't these apps still have to go through Xbox Certification? I doubt VLC nor SnesX will go through.
You'll get a facebook app and a spinoff youtube app.
