I've heard that it doesn't work on iOS in general.

They work on my Android chrome(Nexus 7 2013). They just have to load completely before they start up.
Holy shit at both this clip and the fact that it's 2.86MB. Can't imagine what the GIF size/quality would have been. I'm converted.

That's because all "web browsers" on iOS have to based on Safari. They are more UI changes with some added features than a different back end as that's not allowed.
Yeah, seriously. Only wonder if the browser or pc might act up when 10 of those load at the same time

NeoGAF really needs to adopt WebM/HTML5. It's something I've been pondering recently.
gyfcat.com does a great job of converting gifs to HTML5 videos with no audio.

GIFs are resource heavy and outdated.
GIF Version had better quality.
Less image artifacts, smoother playback and so on.
There's no point in having a xxx times lighter filesize if the quality isnt better.
I wish it was h.264 based instead.

GIFs are crazy heavy. They are RLE so good for solid colours but video? nah, terrible. Thought people knew this.
I browse mobile GAF with GIFs turned off because people will routinely load up 20 MB of GIFs just to make some dumb celebratory point.
H.264 is even more efficient, FYI. WebM ain't that special. It's basically baseline profile H.264 compression.
