'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Well they'll get me to buy this since I only got like an hour into it before my PS3 was sold after the PS4 launch. Glad I'll finally get a chance to play through it.

Those are some good improvements, but 60€ for a remaster is a steep asking price, for me.
Especially given the 30 fps.

On the other hand, the DLC i have to play alone is 20€ (though i was waiting for a sale on that).

Christ, so 30 fps is worth 60 Euros to you alone? I don't get obsession over FPS. As long as you get no tearing with stable FPS, who gives a shit. Especially for a game like TLOU, 30 FPS is more fitting for the atmosphere.

I think something built from the ground up by ND will work. We'll see with their next game.

Infamous SS was 60fps, iirc. It just had some framerate issues when too many explosions happened.

It's mid-30s 98% of the time, and it dips significantly when things get hectic. It's only at 60 when looking straight to the sky.

Damn, I was waiting for the GOTY edition for PS3 to play this gem. Now I have to wait until I get a PS4 to play.

I can't see myself playing through the game again (I thought it was amazing, just not the type of game I'd play twice) but I really want to see the graphical improvements. Kind of wish I hadn't already played it so I could play through this version.

A quote from Naughty Dog pres. a while back:

"We always create our assets at a higher resolution than what you see in-game," explained Naughty Dog co-president Christophe Balestra. "A lot of our pipelines are already ready to move to something superior to the PS3."

I imagine they will be able to implement those super high res textures they made now...

60FPS would work here. Period.

To each his own I guess, regardless of 30fps or 60fps, TLOU is easily the best game of all time. Can't wait!

Sony if you charge more than £39.99 for the digital version I'm gonna be so pissed. Come on Sony. Be the bigger man here. This is where it could start. This is where you can start charging reasonable prices for digital next gen first party titles. £39.99. Same as the PS3 version launched for. No more.

Fuuuuuuuuck yeeeeeeeah!!! :D

Waiting for framerate info though... For 60 bones it BETTER BE 60 fps.

Don't shit around ND, make it 60. :|

You're going to be disappointed :(

Also, the game is less than a year old and will include all the DLC packs (1 SP, 2 MP). Isn't that essentially what we get in GOTY editions? Aren't those also usually $60?

In addition to post-launch content being packed in, they're upgrading the fidelity of it for PS4. So it's like a GOTY+. I'm not saying 60fps wouldn't be great, just that a) I don't think that's happening and b) don't think $60 is a ripoff for those people who don't yet own the game; quite the opposite in fact. This game will sell PS4s hands-down.

The problem is that most of us that are frothing over it already have the game and are looking for reasons/excuses to buy the same thing twice; to tell our wallets "the abuse is out of love". If 60fps is your red line-- if that's the tipping point for you to shell out full MSRP day one (because it'll obviously get cheaper over time) for a game you possibly already have-- then that's totally reasonable. But the game easily has $60 worth of content packed into it without the obligatory "next gen bannerman" of 60fps.

Look, we both have Joel as our avatar for crying out loud. Clearly we enjoyed TLoU and I have no doubt we will both end up owning this Remastered edition, with or without a higher framerate. The question is whether it is worth it as a Day 1, $60 purchase; a Black Friday $40 flash sale; or a late-in-Year-2/Year 3 PS+ IGC addition. For me personally it's a Day 1 buy.

I also look forward to people communally enjoying TLoU via the livestreaming that will undoubtedly overtake Twitch when this thing drops.

Two of which are for multiplayer, which i don't play, the other one i don't think is worth its full price (which is why i haven't bought it yet).
Plus 30€ for a game i've already played.

I'm not saying they're scamming us, but for MY level of interest, it's a steep price.
I'll buy the game D1 if you pay it for me, though!

The game will drop in price relatively quickly. For people who have already played it and don't think its worth a replay at full price, it should be easy to hold off and wait for a price that you do find acceptable. I did that with Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. I only paid $30 for it.

Yes, you're totally right. 60 fps are for most fast paced games. 1080p is a great achievement on this remaster. It already looked gorgeous on PS3 I can't imagine on PS4 at 1080p.

It's not, really.

Not trying to shortchange the work done on this, but current hardware should easily be able to handle this higher resolution with no problem.

How hard is the platinum for this one for someone who isn't good at shooters? Don't you have to beat it on the hardest difficulty?

Didn't know lower framerates make a game more atmospheric.

Bought. I'd imagine they are using the in-game cinematic models for player characters, but I'm most excited about the lighting updates. Lighting is what makes the game sing.

I wouldn't say it's hard, but playing through on Survivor you'll definitely need to be patient and use stealth a lot (at least, I felt I had to). But it isn't an excessively difficult game and is one you'll want to take your sweet time through anyway just to appreciate your surroundings.

I have no idea about the new difficulty mode however. I look forward to seeing how they further challenge us without hopefully making it overly cheap.
