Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

I don't know. It will be very tough decision. Pit, Mega Man or Little Mac?
Like I said, Greninja would be my first choice, but Little Mac would be my second, followed by Rosalina & Luma. I'm very curious to see firsthand how they've balanced Little Mac's ground superiority and air vulnerability. And I'm curious to see how the puppet mechanic handles with Rosalina, and how intuitive it is to combo off Luma.

If they reveal Palutena at E3 and put her in the demo, I'd probably prioritize her above all others because she is one of my favorite Nintendo characters, thanks to her amazing turn in Uprising. Only Ridley would trump her, since Ridley has become the "Holy Grail" of newcomers and should it turn out he's playable, I'd want to try him first simply out of historical significance, lol.

The best way to do it would be to open the tournament with a series of FFA practice matches for the players to test out new characters and get a feel for the game, broadcast for all to see and going on simultaneously. Then after about an hour of that, display the bracket and play the tournament matches.

I guarantee you Nintendo's not going to give them days before the tournament to play around. At best they'll get a few hours.

So guys, if you roughed out the lines at Best Buy and got one shot to try one character for the purposes of this demo, which character would it be, of the ones we currently know?

I'd definitely go with Greninja. He appeals to both my gameplay style (fast and technical) and he's one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite franchises.

Villager probably.

SHUSHHHH! Now you are going to hyped us up for something that might not happens. I'm scared now if they are going to make the choices even more harder for us to pick right after E3 reveals.

I hope to see a ton of Mega Man footage.

Of all the newcomers, I feel like we know the most about megaman. We literally know all of his moves (except for a couple directions of throws and how his final smash works [how big is the beam, what happens after the cutscene])

I'm actually more interested in changes made to veterans, since we've had less coverage on them.

Sheik

I wouldn't want to try out a new character under those conditions (probably a 2 minute time match, free for all)

This tourney news is so awesome. I live in LA, but assuredly I have to work.

Anyone want to post their "dream 16" for invites?

Mango, Armada , M2K and I really don't care about the rest, seeing this three battle it out on the new smash should be amazing.

All players in the tourney must use Fox, but they each must use a Fox with a different custom move set.

All matches must be played on FD, but it must be a different version of FD every time.

The Kid Icarus fan in me wants the following at E3:

- NEWCOMER: Palutena -- A hovering staff-and-shield user who fires rays of light, zips around on grind-rails and conjures up Centurions.
- Chaos Kin is the boss hazard for Palutena's Temple on WiiU, possessing players and fleeing when in trouble.
- Lightning Battle is the second Kid Icarus stage on WiiU, with Phosphora and Thanatos stage hazards, and running commentary from the gods.
- Medusa's Castle is the second Kid Icarus stage on 3DS, complementing Palutena's Temple on WiiU. It features the Underworld Gatekeeper as the boss hazard, and stage hazards in the form of Eggplant Wizards.
- NEWCOMER: Medusa -- Wields a staff and magic with petrifying properties, turning enemies to stone, and for her Final Smash she assumes her monster form, her head detaching to fly around wreaking havoc.
- Sakurai strongly hints that there may be one more newcomer from Kid Icarus, with clues that all but confirm the fourth newcomer is Hades...
- Assist Trophies are also shown, including Magnus & Gaol, a two-in-one AT where Gaol fires magic from afar and Magnus fights with his club up close.
- Another Assist Trophy is the infamous Tempura Wizard, who tries to turn players into fried shrimp before chasing them down for a OHKO.

Tempura Wizard over Eggplant Wizard would be odd choice since Eggplant Wizards are very well known and more memorable enemies for Kid Icarus.

I would love to see everything you mentioned to happens tho.

original 8 as playable characters only D:

I would probably be dat Mega, someone new of course , or revamped Bowser B^)

Man I am so back and forth in whether it would be worth it to attend a best buy. The nearest would be 2 hours away. I know I'd probably only get a match in and have to wait hours and hours for that to happen. On the other hand, just watching all of the matches played would be so creaking awesome it might still be worth it.

So anyone wondering when the 3DS version will release now? They mentioned nothing about it being present at the best buy event or E3. While I'm sure they will have it playable at E3 along with the WiiU version, what if they announced it would be available the week after E3?

Edit: although I am most excited about Little Mac and Mega Man, for my one match at best buy I would actually choose WiiFitTrainer and save the excitement and gameplay of little Mac and mega man for when I can actually spend a lot of time with them. Plus, WFT looks fun and interesting to me and it would be awesome to wreck some people with her

Hey, I got the Eggplant Wizards covered -- I said they'd be stage hazards in Medusa's Castle. :)

Also, in regards to boss hazards, you just know the boss hazard in the Reset Bomb Forest on the 3DS version is going to be Cragalanche. The forest portion of the stage appears to be an auto-scrolling level like Rainbow Ride in Melee, and it probably culminates in a showdown against Cragalanche, who conveniently even has a red weak spot on his bottom and self-destructs, not unlike Yellow Devil:

I've been a Link/Young Link/Toon Link since the 64 days and I have always sucked at tethering. So I, for one, am happy about the length extension.

I'd probably go with Mario so I can understand the feel of the game.

It'd be hard for me not to try Rosalina just because she's such an interesting character, but it would probably be embarrassing and a disaster, lol.

I might do it if I'm playing just with my friends rather than strangers, since we'd be able to give each other some space to mess around (depends if I can drag them along or not -- 3+ hours of waiting in line is a lot to ask of anyone).

Hmm, do you believe we'll learn the final roster at E3? Well, except secrets of course.

I actually wouldn't be too surprised if the whole roster ends up playable in their tournament, secret or not.

Then the community gets to devolve into a shouting match about what is or isn't on the starting roster.

For veterans; probably Marth. The Direct footage has seen nice things for Marth, mostly indicating Melee-esque range. With non-cancelable hitstun appearing to make a comeback, I'd want to juggle and use risky edgeguards against opponents like in Melee haha.

If not Marth, then Fox. Fox has been awesome to play in 64, Melee and Brawl, so I can't wait to see how well he plays in Smash 4. The faster the better.

For newcomers, I'd want to play Greninja and Wii Fit Trainer.

Sgt. 2nd Class in the Creep Battalion, Waifu Wars
ZSS, and I'd just stand there walking around and flaunting. I'd bring 3 friends and they'd pick Peach, Rosalina and Zelda to figure out what is under their dresses.

What's more likely is it will look like the final roster but Sakurai will be ambiguous and unclear and the journalists won't bother to ask and so the Internet will tear itself apart and bring about a belated Y2K apocalypse.

Definitely going to try out Greninja if he's playable. Want to get a good feel of the character since I'll be using him a lot.

I'm also interested in trying Luigi since I'm used him in all three. Always fun to see how different he feels in each new iteration.

@PotD: Dang, that sure is a long ass tether. Maybe Link will actually be kinda good this time around...
:(

I'd totally want to try Greninja as soon as possible, though I do want to see the Pikachu/Link changes in terms of veterans.

Sheik. I'm a bit of a Sheikologist and I'd best get a feel of the game with her while still kicking ass.
Or ZSS, I can do the same with her.

I'd probably pick either Marth or Mario, most likely Mario since he's the "all-around" character and it'd give me a much better idea of how the game feels. Besides, I wouldn't really care if I got my ass handed to me by enthusiasts anyways, the GAF tourney is where I'd be worried

Probably Sonic, actually. I'm hyped for Mega Man and Little Mac and all, but we've had a lot of information on how they play, or the changes made to several other veterans; meanwhile, there's been little (if any) information about whatever tweaks Sonic's received. He's generally just there in the daily screenshots, and he looked like he played about the same from the footage we've seen. He kinda needed more killing power (Super Sonic notwithstanding, all he really had was his Forward Smash IIRC), so I want to see if he got any.

He did get specific video footage of him comboing in the direct when Sakurai mentioned that other characters had been tweaked to be stronger, so that's something.
