I hope they announce preordering and preloading with bonuses on the Xbox One at E3 or earlier. Give me incentives to go all digital. A switch to games unlocking at either 12am eastern or 12am based on your IP address would be nice as well.

I went full digital on release and the fact that I basically get two licenses with every game, DLC and season pass makes it more than worth it for me.

How do you get two licenses with every game? I've gone all digital too and I'm loving it!

Oh, and I would very much appreciate a ride on the hype train!

Thanks!

Excited for both Sony and MS to see what they show but more curious about what MS will do. Expecting a price drop, unannounced games, revised Gold policies and other surprises.

I'm not one to try to tell devs how to make their games(Uncharted wishlist aside) but I would really like Halo 5 to bring back not only the space monks, but also the guitar rift parts. A Halo 5 demo with the music would give me dem feels.

If you have two Xbox's or go over to a friends, an account which doesn't own the game can play on your "Home console" and the account that purchased it can play on another console.

Find a friend or family member you trust and owns a Xbox One. Set each others consoles as home consoles(his console is your home and your console is his home).

You also share a gold subscription if you want.

C'mon 343/Microsoft. Marty's out there!

Also if they want they can use the monks even without marty.its essential so i better hear it at e3!

Yeah, I know, but I want him to.

And if not, I want Hans Zimmer. He's simply fantastic with Sci-fi/Drums/Monks/Piano stuff, all of which are totally requisite for Halo. And don't anybody say "I DON'T WANT THE DARK KNIGHT IN HALO." You know very well he wouldn't do that.

Microsoft needs to announce their partnership with Nintendo, Xbox 360 backwards compatibility (your digital library will be accessible through the new Xbox 360 app etc) and drop the price to $399.99 with Kinect $349.99 without. Then show off the gauntlet of exclusives.

After using the Kinect so much I still don't understand this campaign to have a Kinectless SKU.

They said that emulating the 360 wasn't as easy as it looked but... Wouldn't it be easy to emulate the original Xbox? It was also much more based on PC architecture that 360.

We have Titans to work with on PC and we don't have one on PC yet.

Really, guys? Out of all that you guys don't pick apart the partnership with Nintendo?

Partnership with Nintendo just isn't going to happen any time soon. Kinectless SKU is a talking point that just keeps being echoed but the Kinect is one of the best parts of the Xbox One.

$100 price drop isn't going to happen as they aren't going to go from making a profit on the consoles to not making one, a $50 drop is more likely.

For a lot of people that I know it's a glorified microphone - if they even have it plugged in. Shouldn't make that purchase decision for the consumer.

I'd say that the $50 price drop is more likely, but I'm going to dream BIG. Let's get price parity.

i think it would be better for them to go like $10-20 lower than ps4. It would help them alot if they are able to say they have the cheapest next gen console

A glorified microphone?

It isn't glorified at all, it actually works great when setup correctly.

I've honestly never talked to a person or seen a person not have their Kinect plugged in.

I recently plugged mine back in to Skype. Had it unplugged for probably 2 months. Now you have ;)

That plus a 1tb HDD console and I'm so in for all digital.

I think they have to include it at this point. It's a catch-22 for them. If you don't include it, devs won't make games/features for it then it becomes a 100 dollar gimmick and then you're eating the huge R&D costs. If you do you're forcing people to pay $100 for a weaker console and a peripheral they may not want or use.

Price parity wouldn't help. They have to go deeper to have true parity with power and price but they can't. They don't have a lot of wiggle room. I think Sony has a lot more wiggle room with their price. GDDR5 sticks have room to go down while DDR3 is already on the low end of its price. I don't have hard numbers or anything but I think the logic holds. I really don't think a price drop will boost sales that much, especially since it basically had one with the retailer sales on Titanfall bundles. They need something really huge and exciting to motivate people on the fence because Sony's offering is appealing now and will be more appealing after E3. Xbox really has to bring something above and beyond to get ahead and I have no idea what that will be. It will be a great battle for sure.

Actually Sony doesn't have more wiggle room with their price. They've sold the PS4 at a loss since launch, Microsoft has been selling at a profit.

Considering the current state of affairs at Sony there is only so much of a loss they can justify on each console.

The SOC and ESRAM have room to drop is price too.

Well you're missing out on something great...

And not only because of the microphone. Autologins for everyone in the room, NFC, group chat, effortless video chat and streaming... There are a lot of small features that cumulatively add a lot convenience to the whole experience before you even get to the potential usage in games and services, and before you think about the future use potential.

I can't wait to take advantage of automatic screen orientation for local co-op too.

Not to mention no longer having to worry about who has what controller and remotely syncing a controller without having to get up.

Yeah but in the future the price of Sony's components will go down more than Xbox's. I think GDDR5 for example will be less affected by the diminishing returns (am I using that right?) of tech prices than DDR3 which is already old tech.

Uh DDR3 is not old tech, it's used in every PC built nowadays... even the $2500 gaming PCs.

DDR3 will also come down in price even more as it's replaced.

GDDR5 has been in use in GPUs since 2008, DDR3 was launched in 2007.

If anything ESRAM is the most expensive single component used in either console.

They'll both come down but I think GDDR5 will come down more across the life of the console.

You're right when you say Sony as a whole is in trouble though. A price drop is probably out of the question because of the poor health of the company and the complete success of console at this time.
From a consumer perspective, the wiggle room for MS comes from Kinect but I don't really want them to drop it. A straight price drop this early could indicate a weakness of the product to some parties so if they drop the Kinect it would be a different SKU rather than a price drop.

Actually agree. I don't think price parity will be enough for Xbox One to regain its position including the U.S. I don't even think bundles matter much. It needs to be cheaper and include Kinect. Kinect and voice commands is the only thing that is making the XBO different so it should remain with MS accepting the loss.

I disagree, MSRP parity supported by a compelling software line-up should be more than sufficient for Xbox One to remain competitive, and the hardware power differences (which tend to get overblown, in my opinion) will be rendered practically irrelevant once the systems hit mainstream price points.

Agreed. Same price point is good enough given that exclusives and services are there too.

I think one of the big important things that everyone is missing is that Microsoft is the kind of the software. They are implementing universal apps, easy ports between them all in c++ and c#, DX12 and they said Cortana would be coming to xbox in the future. A lot to be excited in terms of software.

Holy shit Kinect might talk back to us!

For the most part, I normally have Kinect turned off in the settings. I'm using my Xbox to for the TV pass-through more than I am for playing games. I may be in the minority; but, for some reason those 3 infrared lights drove me crazy. After getting used to the UI it isn't that bad to navigate through without it.

The "Xbox record that" command is the most useful thing it does in my opinion. When ever I put in Battlefield or Titanfall, I make sure to turn it on for that feature alone. I used to used it for the snap features, but since I found out about being able to unsnap by just clicking the B button it really hasn't been much of a hassle to leave it off.

Edit: Still interested in being on the latest hype train. I saw that my last Sunset Overdrive avatar was hanging from the rafters so I changed it.

I don't know if this is the right thread to ask, but as I'm thinking of picking up an Xbox One next month, I thought I'd try here.

I have three questions that I'd appreciate if any here could help me with. I'm in Ireland, and I've read that voice controls and the tv guide aren't available here yet, which is disappointing as the OS functionality and tv integration is just as much, if not more, of a reason for me to want an Xbox One as the games available for it.

1. If I set my country to UK for the time being, will voice controls work for me? Will that affect anything else on the system?
2. Can I still watch tv through the Xbox even if I can't yet use it to change channels? I would love to watch the World Cup on the Xbox, and play games of FIFA on the console during breaks and such. Is the snap feature for tv working as intended?
3. Can you control Xbox Music, Netflix, Youtube, etc. with your voice? I would love to be able to do this.

1. Yes. No, only if you set the region to UK you work with UK pounds currency, so you can't buy stuff online because Ireland uses Euro's. You'll have to buy UK currency cards to buy stuff online.
2. Yes, probably depends on your set top box. Snap should work just fine.
3. Most of those apps use voice control, although not for all functions.

I know this is not gonna happen but I would easily buy a Xbone with full BC at 500e. I have a huge 360 backlog (in both retail and XBLA/XBLIG) and I don't plan on abandoning it soon so yeah I'd love to be able to play those games on the Xbone.

BTW I want to be in the hype train FordGT. Let's do this! :)

That's awesome, thank you. I won't really be buying anything from the store for a while, and I assume that I can set the country back to Ireland when I need to (right?). Also, have they announced that they will be doing the tv guide/voice controls for other countries yet? Any dates or time windows? Also, final question... how good is the Xbox One at controlling TVs and audio receivers? I have a Samsung tv with an Onkyo receiver, and I dream of being able to come home in the evening and have the Xbox turn everything on by voice command. Can it do that?

On topic, in terms of E3, I'm looking forward to Batman Arkham Knight, hope we get to see more of it. And maybe they could expand on their plans for the fitness app. I'm quite interested in that.

You can switch countries and regions as many times as you want. More TV guide support will probably roll out around September when X1 releases in Tier 2 countries. I don't have any experience with controlling other media devices with the X1 as I'm using the Harmony Touch remote but I've heard positive things about the feature on X1, you should search for some experiences with your receiver on the internet.
