Mortal Kombat X - CG trailer (PC/360/XB1/PS3/PS4, 2015, E3 Debut, Box Art, Info, UE3)

Well it is mortal kombat.

Do people actually expect MK animations to be good?

Nah, that's not it. I remember MK animations to be a bit more "mature". That was not gameplay though. I just think the animations look goofy in this CGI trailer. Almost felt comical to see the gore and violence in the end after they swung around trees like apes.

Scorpion looks pretty awesome.

yep, they always keep improving their designs. I wish the animations improved too. Looked janky.

why on fucking earth people still use CG Trailer ?

like what does that even tell me ? there is scorpion and subzero in a mortal kombat game ?

I don't even get it. I am pissed off

Edit: wtf with the music too ? $#%#$%#$

Really? What do you except from an MK video? An eminem original song?

First thoughts:

The music is hilarious.

I have serious doubts about environmental interactivity but am hopeful that someone will finally do this.

I love the implication that Scorpion will be able to use the harpoon from the air.

I reckon there's a good chance that the majority of that is in-game, to be honest. It's not like it's a free-roaming, open-world, multi-NPCed universe. A small, singular dynamic environment and two high-asseted characters. Would probably play to the same rules as racing games e.g. the majority of the system's oomph can go straight on what you see.

Looks good fun.

Terrible teaser, with no gameplay for a fighting game, looks like it's taking the worst element from Injustice, and the knowledge that NRS is going to release a half broken game in the first place has already killed my non-excitement.

Plz NRS. Shown that you have learned at E3. And don't waste my EVO time.

If that's in-game play, then this is a huge step backwards. It's like Boon recognized they can't do fast, fluid gameplay, and so they went in the opposite direction. Seeing "cinematic" in the description of a fighting game trailer makes me deeply disappointed. I was hoping they would fix the clunky combat of the previous games.

The fuck is that awful rap shit?

I can't even understand what he is saying.
Incredibly bad music choice. I actually checked my other windows to make sure I didn't have an ad playing somewhere.

Dub step would have been better for this trailer, or some gothic orchestral music.

Regardless though, the gameplay looks freaking amazing.

Ed Boon should have just tweeted "Mortal Kombat X - 2015". We didn't need a CG trailer with bad music and the same characters from MK 1. I realize these things are not for "people like us" but what's the point?

While that isn't gameplay, I do hope the game can come close to that. Would be awesome.

And who thought that hippity hoppity music was a good fit for this trailer? Sucked.

Very cool trailer barring the music of course which was a terrible choice. I just hope this is all in-game.

On a separate but slightly related note, why can't Capcom do what these guys are doing and finally give us a Street Fighter V, rather than hitting us with iterations like Ultra SF4?

Regardless of how active online was, MK9 was a huge seller. It's still a really damn popular series.

People want a current gen fighter and there are a lot of people that want to like Mortal Kombat, but need to see something promising. You put those together with the already sizable MK fanbase and I can see hype. It's more or the the same effect with Nintendo's bigger games like Mario Kart, Smash and the 3D Marios.

MK9 was the best selling game in the entire series. If anything it's bigger than it's ever been.

Mortal Kombat is still a huge IP. MK9 beat Street Fighter IV in terms of sales.

Welp. I'm clearly underestimating the popularity I guess. Didn't think it was that big at all. Maybe just from tournament numbers.

Who the hell thought that music was in any way fitting for this trailer? And someone got paid for that decision...

Is is just me or is it a bit daft to do an X-ray effect on injuries in a game like this? It just draws attention to the fact that after you see Sub-Zero's knee supposedly being shattered, he continues walking comfortably straight after.

I don't think those cinematic scenes are part of the actual gameplay of a match, I think that was just for the trailer. You can tell when it switches back and forth from gameplay to cinematic...

If there were that many cinematic breaks in a match, the fighter would be pointless and no one would take the game serious.

If this is as big of a hit as MK9, can we get dat Shaolin Monks sequel? Please.

It's the best MK game and it's not even a fighter.

No it didn't. It was shit. I had to make sure some other browser didn't kick on some garbage music from an ad.
You know what different people have different tastes right? Some like classical, some like rap, some like heavy metal. Deal with it. You can't say someone else opinion is wrong.

Pretty trailer .... but also pretty useless.

Confirmed Scorpion, Sub Zero, X-Ray and Fatalities.

The hip hop is arbitrary and jarring, and almost as jarring as the animations. The animation is honestly the worst part about these games, strange hit detection being the second worst.

I really hope this one's good. MK9 wasn't UMK3, but it was the best effort in so many years. Just please, somebody get them an animator. Some animator browsing gaf, please offer yourself to Netherrealm's doorstep.

Or maybe poor animation is a studio inside joke at this point. I'm actually convinced they have awful inside jokes concerning development. Just play MK Mythologies.

i looked at it 5 time now and yeah i think it's safe to say it's all in game footage.

hype hype hype :)

that looks so real :S

Out of curiosity, why does it seem like there is so much "hype™" for this? Isn't the series not that popular anymore? The anticipation for this title seems bigger than the entire post week 1 player-base for MK9.

MK 9 sold close to 4 million copies, it's not a small franchise

MK9 was pretty much the only fighting game to stay on NPD charts months after release. Even Injustice stayed for a long time on the charts. There's no other fighting game out there that can rival it in terms of sales and popularity, not even Street Fighter. MK is one of the very few and rare evergreen titles out there.

SF4 vanilla did about as well I believe, SC4 sold over 1 mil I believe pre-SF4 (though Soul Calibur franchise is in a poor state right now), and Smash.
