That looked way too good to be in-game. If it is then I'm legit shook.

if that is from the game engine, I am ready for that.. wow.

That looked in-engine.

looks awesome.

Guys stop setting yourselves up for disappointment.

The day a developer shows amazing in-game graphics in the reveal trailer you can rest assured they'll plaster it with "this is in game footage". Until that day always assume it's CG or a target render.

My two cents:

Graphics are phenomenal in combo to this art style, it sets the tone of the game perfectly;
there isn't an over-exageration of particle effects, which is super nice and opposite to all next-gen trends;

arenas seem to be 2.5 D, am I right on this? Also we can use weapons like in older MK games?;

animations are so fluid it makes this almost unbelievable, and I really doubt the final game will be that smooth, but I hope so, since that's one of the aspects that penalized MK in all these years imho ;

the blood shaders seem to be recycled from previous games, but this is nitpicking to the extreme;

I also agree the music has to go, it doesn't fit at all and gives the impression the game is directed to a younger audience;

I think (tv spoilers)
the latest GoT episode
was more violent than this.

And yeah, I agree the singing killed some vibes.

I guess they used Wiz Khalifa because he is on WB's label. Have to agree with people though, he is not that great of a rapper.

How do any of us know that you actually work at NetherRealm?

I mean, I strongly think it's CG, but I don't think some random person with no credentials claiming he worked on it is really a definitive end to this argument.

It wasn't made by NetherRealms.

Liked the trailer
Liked the song

Why didn't you get the Wu-Tang Clan and DOOM to rap over your comic book/Video Game rap shit. This is their entire deal

2.5D fighters are fighters on a 2D plane with 3D modeled characters (SFIV, MvC3, Mortal Kombat 9). I suppose you can have 2.5D stages if it's something like drawn backgrounds with 3D objects in it like in BlazBlue. Full 3D stages are like those in the Soul series or DOA with the full 3D movement. When it comes to stages I don't think there is a middle road between 2D and 3D.

Edit: I'm definitely siding with the CG crowd at this point lol.

This is a crime against the English language.

yea the animation still looks like shit, and the choreography was pretty lame also. that air hook grab thing by Scorpion made no sense

I'm going to go out on a limb and say its totally in-game or the final game will be close. If they keep using UE like they have before there is nothing about UE4 that couldn't do that level of detail... its not like its a giant open world game.

This has to be the worst trailer I've had the pleasure of watching

- CG? Check.
- Terrible music? Check.

Meh.

I deplore this trend of using CG trailers to market games. Show me the actual gameplay or don't show me anything at all.

This is a crime against the English language.

At least it is just f instead of ph, I have seen worse butchering of the English language (See the YT series Why Would You Put That on the Internet?") It is mostly bad sentence structure.

Also, I am pretty sure it is CGI. Very boring CGI, but CGI nevertheless

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
because specific segments look like it might be possible in-game, like when the camera zooms back to show both facing each other.

So did parts of the Batman: Arkham Knight CG trailer. There's more that look beyond in-game capabilities of PS4/XBO than not though, especially if it runs above 720p at 60fps.

in game graphics could be close to this in screenshots, but there's no way the animation is going to be that fluid and seamless. I would love to be wrong, of course, but it's like the upcoming UFC game. It looks amazing, until you see the same clunky transitions between moves that you always see in such games.

I mean, it'll look great. But it's going to animate much like the last one.

for sure but i still think ps4 has the power to do such graphics only in confined spaces like fighting games.
do you remember this?

Its not a question of polycount and shaders, its a question of production budgets.

There's only so many animations that can be made, and only so many blends between specific animation cases you can anticipate and still release a game within a given timeframe, even using procedural animation techniques.

You guys realize it's totally possible that they intentionally asked for rigid animations to match MK's gameplay, right?

If you look at the youtube video, I think parts of it might be in game as there are cuts that have a much poorer lighting quality than the rest of it.

Eg - 1:18 - 1:25 sees a drop in quality which I'm tempted to say could be in game

I think you may be right, 1:24 definitely looks different and it goes to a 2d plane right before cutting back to Sub-Zero.

But this isn't a current gen exclusive. It's already known that this will be on PS3 and 360, and there is no way those will be capable of this.

Also, I was secretly hoping they would go back to live action actors. Even though that would never happen, it would have been fun to see in HD.
While I'm pretty sure they would release it on the PS3 and 360, could you show me where it was confirmed for those?

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
I hope that's not his real fatality, looks boring.

2015 is looking to be one of the best times to jump onto the next-gen ship, what with this and Halo 5 coming out, and possibly Mass Effect 4?
