Mortal Kombat X - CG trailer (PC/360/XB1/PS3/PS4, 2015, E3 Debut, Box Art, Info, UE3)

The refix trailer is meh. I mean if they are gonna try and change the music, make a valid attempt. Original track was better. I like my nostalgia left 20 years in the past.

If that was actual gameplay, I am impressed. Horrible music choice though.

Also, I wish they'd add more depth. Like when Scorpion broke Sub-Zero's knee cap, he should be limping and barely walking. That'd be next-gen for sure. That'd be impressive.

Also, why did they remove Scorpion's hook? Now it's a chain, it doesn't make sense at all. Did they feel that it was too unrealistic for him to shoot it out of his body while teleporting and breathing fire?

Scorpion NEVER had the thing come out of his body. It was always a rope he threw. Look again at MK1/2 closely. They just did that in the movie for lord knows what reason

Scorpion was dead once too.

I would rather them fudge the story for the sake of having all the characters.

Nanomachines.

Noob Saibot was thrown in a soulnado at the end of MK9, so it will probably cure him and turn him back to Sub-Zero.

His brother though is a cyborg AND a zombie.

Johnny Cage was dead once in the MK canon....

So I should just ignore it? Okay then.

Dunno buddy, I know you didn't say gameplay and I didn't quote you due to the word pre-rendered.

It's the "in-game" part that I quoted, suggesting that the trailer could be somehow made in the game engine, and well, being a GCI trailer it's not in-game footage in any sort of form.

A target render isn't usually CGI either, most of the times it's something you can interact with in real time on high spec computers. This is just a video, you can't interact with anything in it.

*sigh*

Let's just agree to disagree to agree that I said it isn't gameplay, and pre-rendered, and a trailer designed to look like "gameplay". Which is clearly the intention with the mostly side view cam.

If the gameplay actually looked like that I would cream my pants.
I mean all a figjting game has to display is a stage, two character models and some fancy effects.

Surely it COULD look close to that?...

Wouldn't be a GAF thread without the usual remedial members and their "huehuehue gaiz gaiz rap=crap! I'm so wits!" posts.

Official PlayStation YouTube just uploaded the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Wcb2oCJYU

Still no platforms, but the video description shares more:

For the first time ever, Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. And with a new fully-connected gameplay experience, players are launched into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy.

The announcement has me excited for the eventual and hopefully gameplay next week.

Do we know anything else? Like if it'll be on UE3 or UE4?

Still no platforms, but the video description shares more:

So like Melty Blood or the more recent Persona 4 Arena Ultimax with Shadow Versions? Sure, I'm in. I just wanna see it in action next week

CG? Why? Wild that developers still waste money with it (Blizzard and Square Enix excluded).

I think the concern is nothing to do with "huehuehue gaiz gaiz rap=crap! I'm so wits!" but rather that the music in MK games has always provided atmosphere to the game, usually with oriental stylings. Most other forms of music would be met with equal pessimism.

Further to that though, a lot of people don't seem to realise that MK trailer music isn't usually related to the game. For example MK9's teaser pre-e3 had music by the band Disturbed... and if I recall correctly, it was met with the exact same comments as this

Not developers but publishers. WB Games also recently debuted Batman with CGI trailer if you remember. I think I've seen someone saying they have a big positive impact on pre-order numberes so that's why they're doing them.

I'm hype! Only thing that I don't like is how every hit is telegraphed in the trailer. I've never seen so many wind up, fully charged, Dankey Kang punches in my life.

Not really a fan of fighters, but if that's actual in-game footage (which I doubt), I might spring for it when it drops a little in price. Also, obligatory comment about the rapping being bad.

Sounds a bit interesting, as long as it's not just a glorified leaderboard.

Multiple variations like Melty Blood?

Or Persona 4 Arena Ultimax.

YYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Stupid choice of music though.
Interactive environments seem to be a thing which sounds interesting and I hope it's done well.
X-Ray attacks are in again which is awesome.
Time to pre-order right now.
