I have a theory that P-Jax wouldn't mind if Melo left NY. I also think the Lakers are the best destination. Before you LOL, hear me out:

- You don't publicly box-in a star who can opt out by making comments to the media about how he shouldn't opt out.

- You also don't hire an inexperienced coach and give him 5 years when you have a star who wants to win now.

I feel Phil wants to start over, hopefully with a S&T using Melo. However, Melo must have learned his lesson and won't let his new team get gutted. I would rule out any team that can't sign him outright. I also don't see him taking less money to be Bron's ballboy after seeing what that's done for Wade's and Bosh's status as individual players.

Lakers would be a great destination since Melo and Kobe are close. However, does Melo want to go back to the tougher West? And from the NY media to the LA media? (who are just as hard on stars but not impressed by just making the playoffs)

If Melo has assurances of Kobe's health, I feel that's the best destination for him. Lakers are coming off 2 horrible seasons and he will get a ton of the credit for turning things around.

Stop talking, er typing.

Juss stahp.

What? That was all 100% reasonable.

No one really knows what he wants, it is interesting because he has extreme options, each option is a completely different direction.

EDIT: seriously the GAF basketball low IQ is a HUGE turnoff on this site. FIX it.

Melo isn't going to Miami. He would be leaving around 60-70 million if he takes paycut and leaves Knicks.(Assuming Miami doesn't go over the cap or willing to go over) if all 4 players want to stay. One of the Big 3 would have to depart, obviously Bosh. Melo wants to win, Lakers have no guarantee. Kobe might not even be Kobe anymore. People say Houston and Chicago are the best options. I don't see how they are immediate championship contenders with him. Chicago- DRose's health is a worry. Thibs might overplay Melo in terms of minutes. Houston, Dwight Howard, James Harden and Melo are all players that want the ball in their hands. Horrible fit IMO.

You don't see how Houston with Melo, Harden and Dwight are contenders? Add a starting caliber PG and that is a legitimate core if Dwight dedicates himself to defense and stops crying to be featured on offense...

I do not see Melo agreeing to any S&T deals though..

One of the Big 3 would have to depart, obviously Bosh.

I'm not sure that's so obvious if you only look at expected productivity moving forward (no sentimentality etc.)

It's so sad because Melo has to not only worry bout what he wants, but what everyone else thinks, and that is NYC. Anywhere else and he could just leave with no thoughts. Not here, you better have a reason my dude, good luck!

No one that is a Laker fan (and not a "I want Kobe to get more help so he can chip" guy like Konex) wants Melo in LA going forward. He is not the future of our franchise, but I totally understand Konex's motives, which is why I told him to stahp.

EDIT: seriously the GAF basketball low IQ is a HUGE turnoff on this site. FIX it.

LOL...this guy.

The current quality of NBA GAF is why I haven't posted in the general thread in ages.

If he wants to leave, he needs to do it now and blame it on the hiring of an inexperienced coach (assuming his landing spot doesn't also have one lol). Playing one season with Fisher and then bolting would not be a good look

Looks good on paper. Again two of the players can't play a lick of defense. You wanna add another PG to orchestrate the offense and dictate who gets to shoot and the ball, best option is Rondo. Doubt they get him. Plus if they sign Melo, I doubt they can keep Parsons, unless a team is willing to take Asik and Lin's absurd salary this coming year. But they would most likely get salary back as well.

I guess that's where we differ cos I don't understand the hate on Melo. He'd never missed the playoffs till this year and he's proven to be a franchise player. When has he ever lost to an inferior team in the playoffs? That's right, NEVER.

I would much prefer Kobe to hand the baton to Melo than a fraud like Dwight...

This slander on Melo is ridiculous. He is one of the best defenders on Bron we have in the league. Does he play much defense? No, because that wasn't his role in Denver and in NY, he was playing a lot of PF cos their rosters weren't well built.

Can he play defense at SF if asked to? Definitely...

No, where we differ is you are a Kobe guy and I am a Laker fan.

I'll be one long after Kobe is gone and you'll have moved your player crush elsewhere.

I can get down with you on this. Please post and help to change the culture though. This was the perfect season to do so.

It has been a lot of fun, i'm sure for the many of us who have been around for the past few weeks. Sayin, these dudes that have been in here have been cool as shit.

Naw, time to leave it to the new blood. It's theirs now. I am at peace with it all.

We had our run. 2005-2013 were the glory years of NBA GAF.

We live on now, only in the Hall Of Fame.

I don't think the fact that he's usually on an inferior team helps your argument.

A question. People say the heat are too tired. But how can the team be so tired when they had such an easy road to the finals? There was no sign of fatigue until suddenly game 3 and 4? I guess the pacers challenged them but I never felt they were in danger

5pur5 were pushed to 7 in the first round and had a tough WCF with OKC and their re-Serge-ance...

It's excuses to cover the Heat getting handled so far.

How about some context for you?

New York 2011-2012 -- lost to Miami Heat 4-1, 1st round (Miami won NBA title)
New York 2010-2011 -- lost to Boston Celtics 4-0, 1st round (Boston lost to Miami in ECF)
Denver 2009-2010 -- lost to Utah Jazz, 4-2, 1st round (Utah lost to LA Lakers in 2nd round)
Denver 2008-2009 -- lost to LA Lakers, 4-2, conference finals (LA Lakers won NBA title)
Denver 2007-2008 -- lost to LA Lakers, 4-0, 1st round (LA Lakers lost in Finals to Boston)
Denver 2006-2007 -- lost to San Antonio, 4-1, 1st round (San Antonio won NBA title)
Denver 2005-2006 -- lost to LA Clippers, 4-1, 1st round (LA Clippers lost in 2nd round to Phoenix)
Denver 2004-2005 -- lost to San Antonio, 4-1, 1st round (San Antonio won NBA title)
Denver 2003-2004 -- lost to Minnesota, 4-1, 1st round (Minnesota lost in 2nd round to LA Lakers)

I got hated when I said they were "vulnerable" a while ago.

Why the Knicks traded for Andrea is beyond me.

Real backwards move and did not build on 54-28 prior season.

I got no problem with him going to Houston. Much better to win 55 games and get bounced in the playoffs than have Ray Felton to continue to run your point guard.

People hate it, but I actually love Ray Felton, thats my dude, but he definitely had some personal issues that affected his game, I always though he was a good NYK type PG when its going good. I love that dude. He is a cool ass mofo imo.

I don't really know where he should go.

He would be crazy to go to Chicago because Rose is never going to be the same, and he's going to have all that Jordan-history pressure on him.

If he goes to Miami, it's just going to be LeBron, Carmelo, and a rundown Wade (unless he comes off the bench and Spoelstra starts managing minutes like Popovich), which might be enough to get through the East for a couple more years, but definitely not past the West winner.

Staying in New York looks like a mess because the team has nothing and no cap room.

And Los Angelos can't get him this year, I don't think.

Interesting stats

Data tracking by SportVU showed Spurs players covered 17.6 miles on the court in Game 4, compared with 16.7 miles by the Heat. It's indicative that the Spurs are moving their bodies in addition to moving the ball (the Spurs made 106 more passes in the game than the Heat did). Game 3 featured the exact same discrepancies: .9 more in miles and 106 more passes for the Spurs than the Heat.

When the Spurs make that one extra pass to the open man on the weak side, you can see the Heat say a collective "No mas" and simply fail to make the last rotation to challenge the shot. More than half of the Spurs' field goal attempts in Game 4 were uncontested, according to SportVU.

Considering the size of the court, that extra mile per player is a huge difference.

An extra hundred passes is insane.

just people making excuses. the truth is the spurs are the better team from top to bottom. they were also the better team last year and lost to the heat though

Wade is tired from playing so many games this year. Bosh is tired from standing in the corner waiting for outlet 3 pt looks while he watches other people rebound. Lebron is tired because it's hot in Miami.

I think he's always hurt now, good game or not.

Or maybe it's just the decline of a guy who relied heavily on athleticism and FTs to score? He doesn't trust his jumsphot at all and keeps driving into the paint looking for calls. Kind of sad actually

Wade has had a perfect career, I think he deserves a ton of respect. One of my fav players and I cannot think of a lot of bad things to say about him.

Yeah just like how Wade is suddenly hurt when he has a bad game

About Wade. People been saying but anyone notice the dude looks chubby. I noticed first during the pre-game interview with Doris Burke, but you know how the power of TV, didn't see too much into it my observation. Not trying to make an excuse for his garbage performance just saying his knees must be so bad, he can't even do proper conditioning?

Of course he's on the decline.

He is thirty-two years old. He has played a lot of basketball at high velocity and has taken a lot of hits and falls.

That doesn't mean his knees and ankles aren't constantly aching. His body's natural decline makes it harder for him to recover from being hurt.

It's a vicious cycle, but it happens.

God damn, I knew he was killin it, but that is nuts. Chuck has been saying guy is the next big thing for the last 2 years.

What Wade has comes very close. Without being a Heat fan, I do love that dude. He has a game that I have loved over quite a few years.

He gets help from the refs and he talks a lot of shit. I don't respect him at all from a basketball POV. I dunno him outside the game though, so I aint gonna talk bout his character.

I don't get how that translates to "perfect" career.

He has three rings, and wasn't the best player on his team for two of them.

Let me say something before I forget. Actually, I'll let Skip say it:

http://youtu.be/lLvxQ-S79Ts?t=4m1s

Starts at 4:00 minutes, lasts 45 seconds.

Game 5 has all the makings of a classic trap game. So much so that I'm picking Miami to win Game 5. If I had a bunch of money to spend I'd put it on the Heat to win Game 5. That's how confident I am about this. Everyone thinking the Spurs are going to win and close it out, all the analysts, commentary, just the whole atmosphere of the series is that it's over. It's a classic trap. Miami will win Game 5. Skip is right on the money with this one.

I think the 2nd and 3rd quarters will be more telling, and how big of a lead they have or how much they'll be trailing.

Any double digit deficit going into half time can't be good mentally

After what happened in gm6 last year, I am expecting the Spurs best game tomorrow. Whether that will be enough to beat Miami depends on Bron and the Heat 3pt shooters.......and the refs lol
