Hey guys, maybe Cucco will be a newcomer after all

Lol!!!

I really want to see some Rosalina analysis from people who're familiar with puppet characters. Everything I've seen so far has just been people saying 'she's super weird/ different' and they have no idea how to use her.

You know, it seems like Nintendo is blowing its load with this game roster-wise, come Smash 5 there won't be many characters left. Unless...

Nintendo buys Capcom. Boom! Smash 5 newcomers set. Ryu, Chun-Li, Arthur, Viewtiful Joe, Chris Redfield, Wesker, Amaterasu, etc.

As long as they have Ridley, they will always have a load.

I'm not sure you can say "Snake's consistently been the star of Metal Gear" in his favor, either. I mean, Brawl explicitly went with Solid Snake
Brawl's Snake is just called "Snake" and he represents more than one form of Snake even though it's primarily Solid.

I suppose percentage-wise, Solid Snake comes out on top, but in sheer quantity, they're about comparable.
I specifically said SNAKE, not Solid Snake like you insist on doing. This is something that need not be so literal. Even if Solid/Naked/Big Boss are all technically different characters. They're all essentially spins on the character that is Snake, in the same way that all the different Links are still essentially Link. The Link we have in Brawl & Smash 4 is primarily Twilight Princess Link, but he represents all Links aside from the Wind Waker style version.

Not only that, but Simon Belmont is such a has-been. People only want him because of the NES games. I know that relevance doesn't matter much when it comes to Smash Bros. characters, but when it comes to third parties, if you're not relevant, you have to at least be important. Snake in all of his incarnations are important to Konami, Simon Belmont is not important. I don't even know why we're arguing this considering Snake is the one who made it into Smash Bros. and is probably the only Konami rep that ever will.

Snake didn't join Smash because of him being important to Konami or revelant, he joined because his creator begged to Sakurai to put him since Melee.

Does i.minus cut you off after a while? :( I can't upload my pikachu dying gif.

Got it under 2 megs for imgur:

That's interesting since I saw different screen KO for Pikachu with headband. His face was face planted on the screen and you could see headband slides off.

Simon Belmont isn't a has-been, though. He's been consistently the representation of the Castlevania franchise in Konami crossovers (Wai Wai World, DMTV, that DS sports game), as well as making appearances in Castlevania as well; the multiplayer games Castlevania Judgment and Castlevania HD had Simon as playable character, and there's the Simon mode for boss rush in Harmony of Dissonance, as well as the appearance of Simon as part of the Legendary Five in Portrait of Ruin's Dual Crush of the same name.
Additionally, Simon is the single most well-known Belmont character, and has starred in the most Castlevania games out of any main character that isn't an antagonist. The only character who comes close to that would be Alucard.

You can argue about Castlevania's popularity as a whole, especially nowadays, but Simon is and always has been the face of the series, more so than anybody else except maybe Dracula.

I'm not even getting into this Snake/Simon conversation, I've done it 100 times.

Just know that regardless of how he got in, Snake is more deserving than Simon in everyway. Including that he's even arguably been closer to Nintendo over the years than Simon, and he certainly has been technically.

But this converation and in general the "OMG SNAKZ NINTENDO STATZ!!" conversations are pointless by now. People love their nostalgia and think it's the strongest factor.

From that direct audio video, it seems bowser now has his own victory music. Also the music that plays on Town and City appears to be a medley of various AC music. Togepi and Spewpa are both confirmed as being pokeball pokemon too.

Snake made it into Smash because Sakurai is friends with Kojima. That's it. It has nothing to do with his standing as a mascot for Konami or his relevance to Nintendo. It was because Kojima said to Sakurai, "Hey, it would be neat if Snake was in Smash Bros." and Sakurai said, "Yeah, I guess that would be neat."

Simon is relevant to his series the same way Marth is relevant to Fire Emblem. I don't see how this is arguable. Maybe he hasn't been in all the games, but he was the first protagonist, and was a pretty big deal back in the NES days. If anyone from Castlevania were to make it into Smash, it would be him. And I feel like Castlevania is far more relevant to Nintendo than Metal Gear is, in that it is actually relevant to Nintendo.

Plus Simon would just have a cool moveset between his whip and sub-weapons.

Anyway, it's pretty certain that neither of them are making it in this time around, so I don't really know why we're arguing about this.

Simon Belmont would be great in Smash. I only struggle to imagine him insofar as I'm not sure which look he'd go with. He's had so many over the years. I guess his Super Castlevania IV appearance?

Bolded is why we're arguing this; you're repeatedly stating outright untruths.

Come to think of it, Simon Belmont was in Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate, too - a recent game. He might've been sidelined for Dracula in Lords of Shadow 2 proper, but Simon is not wholly irrelevant like you seem to insist.

I have no idea how you could even remotely come to this conclusion.

Oh, yay! XD I'd love Dixie, too, but I don't think they'd add two Donkey Kong newcomers, and I'd rather see King K. Rool over Dixie Kong, that's why Dixie Kong's not on my roster. But if one of my newcomers gets disconfirmed (King K. Rool, Ridley, or Isaac), then I may add her for the hell of it, lol.

Also, what do you mean the Random slot isn't in the 3DS version? It definitely is!

Uh, no, the Random icon is very much present in the 3DS build:

Excuse my stupidity, this was the first pic I saw of the 3DS roster...

Notice how the hand conveniently covers the random almost completely? Yeah... I went by memory and... *facepalm*

Ooh, well that explains it, haha. XD

Speaking of the Random slot, I saw a couple people saying that it was apparently confirmed in the Treehouse stream that if customizations are turned on, the Random slot is replaced with a slot for Mii Fighters. However, I've watched through all the Treehouse videos I could find and I didn't hear that at all. Can anyone else confirm or deny this, preferably with a video link?

Just to be clear, I'm not arguing Simon Belmont should get into Smash over Snake. Snake's already an established Smash brother, and I would miss him if he weren't included (even though I suck at using him). I'm just debating some of the other claims made.

Among other reasons, regardless of how he got in, Snake is in one of the biggest (litteraly and figuratively) video games Nintendo has ever made, and the game we're all waiting for it's sequel like mad. Brawl. Exclusivley.

Tell me the last time Simon has been associated any where close to that sort of Nintendo relevance, especially within the past 10 years, and we'll talk.

People just remember Castlevania fondly on the NES. That's it. They forget that Snake has been on 5 Nintendo platforms, 2 of which are exclusive apperances, and 1 of which is once again, that little massive Nintendo game called Brawl.

Some people just like Simon better and that's personal preference I don't care. But when I start seeing people's reasons "why Simon should replace Snake" and why "Snake shouldn't be in", I just can't help myself from calling it out usually. I saw your next post so sorry if that wasn't what you were implying. Either way it's hard for me not to jump on it, haha. Gotta defend my boy.

Maturity, bitches.
I hope the stage is rhythm based. Maybe take inspiration from the Mario levels which have disappearing platforms based on the beat. Of course that would mean the music would either need to all have the same beat, there is only one tune for the this stage or they manage to make the stage clever enough to adjust to different tunes.

These are the tunes that need to get in, one from each game:
Space Dance
Munchy Monk
Squall of Sorrow (Karate Man)

Knuckles is the one Sonic character who never seems to rub me the wrong way, so I'd be fine with him in Smash, especially if all of his camp-tastic rap songs from SA2 were in the game. *

* by Knuckles I mean the OG Knuckles, not that brawny bandaged boy

same. i would love to play as knuckles in this. too bad it won't happen..

Including that he's even arguably been closer to Nintendo over the years than Simon, and he certainly has been technically.

Games Simon has been in on Nintendo platforms: Playable in Castlevania, Castlevania 2, Super Castlevania 4, Harmony of Dissonance, Judgement, Mirrors of Fate, Wai Wai World, Wai Wai World 2, DreamMix TV World Fighters, New International Track and Field (total of 10); Cameos in Portrait of Ruin, Ganbare Goemon Gaiden 2 (+2).
Games Snake has been in on Nintendo platforms: Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Ghost Babel, Twin Snakes, DreamMix TV World Fighters, Snake Eater 3D New International Track and Field Smash Bros. Brawl (total of 8).

People keep forgetting that Simon was also recently playable in Mirror of Fate on the 3DS, I guess Mercury Steam's CV output isn't exactly liked around these parts.
None the less there's another Nintendo outing for him, nice take on his character design in that one as well.

No mention of Twinbee? List invalidated!

Vic Viper is my most wanted Konami playable character, believe it or not. I know it'll never happen. Heck I wouldn't even know how to make it happen. But I know I want it. I mean look at this adorable fucker:

I thought that was Trevor? I never played that game, but I didn't know Simon was in it hah.
