Old gamers never die, they just fade away. This thread is devolving into tired old men telling console war stories, showing off their scars, trying to see who has suffered the most.
I like it.

we're so lonely, animlboogy
you can play all 3 games, with guides for 2, and a fangame incoming
i'm a huge mother fan ami but our plights are not comparable
This would legitimately make me more happy than Shenmue III.
Well that should go without saying. Outrun is one of the greatest arcade racing series of all time, while the only thing Shenmue is good for is curing insomnia.
Why do some of you insist on derailing topics about Shenmue? We get it, you don't like it. Go talk about your favorite game in another topic.
Dude...Sega killed Sega.
If they successfully make a third shenmue and it still sells terribly can Shenmue fans finally admit the series isn't that good and their excuses for the first 2 games selling so bad no longer hold water?

I'd go so far as to say Sega's bad decisions started back in the Genesis days. Especially with the little communication between Sega of Japan and Sega of America.Yeah really. I love my Dreamcast. I loved it so much that even despite its short life, its quality overshadowed everything else I got that gen. But Sega made some dense decisions, mostly related to the Saturn, and those dumb decisions had repercussions that spilled into the Dreamcast. Blaming Sony for Sega's exit from the hardware industry is like blaming Nintendo's current Wii U woes on anyone else but Iwata & Co.
I'll admit people have poor taste. Seriously, what do you expect from polarising game series? If they successfully make a third shenmue and it still sells terribly can Shenmue fans finally admit the series isn't that good and their excuses for the first 2 games selling so bad no longer hold water?

Why do devs keep on giving false hopes to everyone :<

Is it happening?
GAF, tell me it is happening!

It's never happening. People, just stop.
I want it too. I want it bad.
But it's not happening.
Please. Just stop.
Pls.

No they weren'tThe death of the arcade market was at least as big of a factor as the failure of the Saturn in Sega's demise. They were actually still turning a profit until 1998.
Fans would buy it all the same even it came out with same LOD as the old Dreamcast games. This won't be the game you want it to be.
It'll be a mobile game or something, or a movie, or something. Big-budget next-gen Shenmue 3 is not happening.
How about you just don't buy it if it ever comes out. I don't understand why some people want to spoil other people's fun. I'd never ask a publisher not to release your favorite game just because it's not my cup of tea.
Because much like DriveClub, that (estimated) $20m is being invested into a game I have zero interest in. When it could be poured into another game that I'd prefer.
I'd like to think that post was pretty transparently my selfish opinion. I don't want to deny you guys the game you love, it's just I really would prefer that money go into a game that isn't fan service. Or at least if it IS, it's fan service I care about.
Anywho, I got on @NeoGAFShitposts - so it must have been a little bit raw sounding, hope that clears it up for anyone I've hurt.

Yes they were.
You don't think they would release HD remakes? I think they would.
Boss★Moogle;118539779 said:HD remakes wouldn't be enough they need to make a new engine and new animations if they want to make new fans in 2014+.
I don't know how you can call an unfinished story "fan service".
Huh. I had no idea that even existed. Now I know why though!
