'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

If it gets to 1 week before lanuch and there's no enhanced footage, then I'll be concerned.

Expect to see the improvements to gameplay within the next 2 weeks. Hopefully.

It was very next gen back in 2007 and to be honest I still haven't played a level like "Assault" in a shooter yet. Multiple objectives, wide open map, beautiful graphics, tons on enemies on screen. Nothing has come even close
Agreed. Fps, as a genre has largely been stagnant since the original Crysis. I replay that game once a year, and fuckin' hell do I get excited the second I jump from the plane...

Collapsing Predator style tree physics... What happened to that!... Oh yea, consoles didnt have the power to push those physics, let alone other things like AI.

What are you worried about happening? There is little chance (in my mind at least) that ND would let their staff go crazy on twitter if they weren't positive about it. The game is 4 weeks away as you have said, and there is no real need for you to preorder this far out if you don't want to. I'm sure in the coming weeks we will see more and more.

I was expecting some footage at E3 given Sony's not so strong first party lineup for 2014. I'd probably get it regardless just to have on PS4, but the preorder early comes from trying to maximize the PS3 trade in value and the 10 dollar price drop. Plus I'm just starving to see some of the game.

I'm guessing they'll put together a video shortly after they go gold. Probably just trying to see what improvements they can get in there while maintaining framerate. Might as well make the video once everything is in place so it's as accurate as possible.

It sounds like the game still hasn't gone gold. They probably didn't want to take the time to get together something for E3 beyond the little they showed. At this point they are most likely not going to put together anything meaningful until the game goes gold.

I'm excited to see the upgrades, but I think I'm going to skip any videos they put out. All I needed to hear was 60/1080. I've already played the game a bunch, but at least seeing the upgrades for the first time (however small they wind up being) will still make it seem fresh.

A new strategy guide for the remastered version? For real?...

I mean I'm a huge fan, but come the fuck on.

http://www.bradygames.com/promotions/promotion.aspx?promo=139972

It probably also includes walkthroughs for Left Behind and layouts of the DLC maps that weren't in the original release.

More shocking to me is the fact that strategy guides still exist.

Yeah they are pushing this to the wire it seems.

Since us Americans aren't looking likely to get that steelbook case, I went ahead and bought the Survival Edition of the original on eBay. I foolishly decided not to get it the first time around, so that artbook will be a nice compensation for spending more money on this game.
It's worth it.

Are we going to have another spoiler thread for all the first timers?

HEY!

I want this game... like right now :(

Agreed.

Was just cooking some lamb chops on the charcoal grill for dinner and was thinking "I wonder if Joel can remember the last time he had lamb chops on the bbq"

And then it hit me, I really want this game now cos I'm dying to replay it.

You're not the only one. Jeez, I can already see the whole process when the game arrives. It's right in the front of my eyes. I will take the disc out, shove it into my console and while it installs, lock the door, let the blinds of my room down and literally dive into the game. The only times I'll leave my mancave in the first week will be for food and hygienic purposes.

My body could not be more ready.

They are amazing for MMO's or RPG's like WoW, GW2 or FF

There was a console release, with much of that intact.

The hindrance is more often unambitious design than lack of power.

So... Silly question but I'm guessing the remastered game has it's own set of trophy's which we'll have to earn again? Also any word on if they will be exactly the same as the PS3 version or updated ones?

I'm going to go through on the top difficulty level after completing it on the PS3, turn off listening too.

Should be an enjoyable experience, especially that generator sequence.

OMGGGG I had a dream last night that I was living inside the remastered version of this game. The first thing that hit me (in my dream inside the game) was the amazing resolution but then I noticed that the lighting was off, washed out. Moments later the lighting changed because the updated game had a day/night cycle! So weird

I'm leaning towards Survival Mode.

First time through I finished it on Hard with Listen-mode Off.
With improved resolution and responsiveness (thanks to 60fps) I think I will be able to manage the step up.

Stupid dream, a day/night cycle wouldnt even make any sense in this game.

If I buy the US PSN release and the EU Steelbook Edition, do I get 2 separate trophies lists and save data ? How did it work on the PS3?

This has probably been asked, but is there a non-First Day edition in the UK? It seems to come with a load of shit I don't want, so I'm wondering if there's a less fancy, cheaper version?

I don't know if I have the balls needed to start on Survival difficulty. Hard was tense enough and felt right in every way. I don't know...

That is already the cheap version and 38 GBP is the MSRP for the UK.

If it only has to be a UK shop but not necessarily the UK version, then you can buy it from http://www.365games.co.uk/ps4-games/the-last-of-us-remastered-ps4-game-- for 4 GBP less.

Cheapest price at the moment seems to be GameStop £30 and includes pre order bonus.
Oh nice.

Yeah there is a non-first day edition, I ordered it a week ago for £29.99 from 365games.co.uk although price has gone up this week. 365 games also sell the US retail version if you want uncut multiplayer.

Not if you want it on Day 1. First Day Edition = Preorder / first shipment

So how does this work playing the USA version online in the UK do I need to set my primary account to a US one and redeem the online pass on there? Not even sure if there is an online pass to be honest.

I enjoyed Survivor a lot but tbh I think Hard is the most fun difficulty. Survivor just makes it a bit too hard to experiment since your supplies are so low, whereas I think Hard is better balanced with just the right amount of items.

Real men disable Listen Mode anyways :)

No & Yes.

No online passes on PS4 (at least from Sony published games).
You set your US account as primary, but your main UK will still be a primary account. You can have as many primaries as you want on one PS4.

Just pulled the trigger and ordered this game. I've been holding back since the PS3 launch and thought fuck it. I cannot wait, It'll be a nice present to return home to after my holiday to Amsterdam.

I had to enable Listen Mode on my Hard play through because the checkpoint had me up against a group of guys with critical health. One hit would kill me. It was pretty frustrating. :(

Seeing lot of EU folks ordering US version but I gotta ask a stupid question, did the devs confirm the mp to be censored again for the PS4?

So what difficulty should I play it on? I dont mind sneaking around, but I also dont have much time. Plus I like to take out most enemies, but also dont want it to be super easy.

You're describing 'Normal'. Stealth kills are the most rewarding IMO. There are section where you can sneak through without even engaging the enemy if you are very very careful, but it's more fun to kill them ALL quietly ... plus you get all the necessary collectables to survive the next area.

I can't emphasise this enough: Search every single nook and cranny and make sure you have a shiv handy. That's all you need to know.

Sounds like normal difficulty would be your best bet. Although i found normal difficulty to be really easy, but that might have been because i played it on hard first.
