There have been fan-made mockups that were just as painstakingly detailed that gets passed as official whether it was the intention of the creator or not. Even creating videos and adding some sfx shouldn't be that difficult, especially considering how simple the tasks were. This could very well end up being real, and I'd still stand by statement that it's doable by today's fans. OVER AND OUT.

The videos only show trophy/invite notifications anyway, which would probably be the easiest element to fake rather than the so-called new UI game bar

Doable isn't in question. Not by me, anyway. When I question the validity of a convincing replica like this, I gotta question motive. Whip it up in an hour? I'd love to see someone pull off a modded replica of that quality even in a day. You don't see it often because it takes more effort than its worth. This is some portfolio padding or an addendum to a cover letter. This isn't done on a whim.

I mean, just look at this thread. None of the mockup attempts are even close to as good. No offense to anyone who posted one. They're much better than I could have mustered in the same amount of time. I just think if you asked a random passer by which was the official OS, they'd point to the "leak".

In any case, if it ends up being a fake, Sony should use it as a template. It is a better design than what they currently have. The paned information is so much better than exiting out to the xmb each time I need to look at trophies or invites. I wish we could get something that responsive too. PEACE.


Edit: I'll just add that it's obvious I want this to be real, so I can admit my view is tainted by optimism.

The problem I have with the video is, when he accepts the game invite, it doesn't ask him to confirm it. This is usually always something Sony has you do in any of their OS.

Idk, the lack of basic design principles is a dead give away. How do you make a fake mockup without making sure everything is aligned and spaced properly? TBH these "leaks" make me cry.

Well you'd have to press the PS button to get the options to popup anyway. It's not really a big deal assuming another press can close it if you somehow accidentally press it during that short window

It's all contextual. You get the invite, you press the ps button, and you accept or deny. If you don't press the ps button the notification goes away just like it does now.

you have to press the PS button to see the invite details though, so you could ignore it.

but if you do ignore it, does the notification just stay there or does it go away (eventually to the notification center)?

I really do hope this video is real. Or at least Sony is making a big OS overhaul because right now it's laggyas fuck for me. And game invites take as long to load up and send as it did when I sent them on my Xbox 360. It should be much smoother and quicker!

Anyway with all these stability updates you would think the PS4 start up would be smooth at least. After that message when it fades into the dashboard it's proper janky until it all loads up.

Hmm very interesting turn of events indeed..

Really hope its real, or at the very least if its not, Sony use this as a guide to where to direct the OS next.

I would like a lot of what they showed from these screenshots.
If it does turn out to be coming, Would be wonderful, as the favorites list is similar as on the PS3.
I wont hold my breath though, sony is to soony with big game changing updates.
