His tweets are pure gold. Feels like a comedy account.

Tashi ceiling takes me back. I think that was the first HaloGAF meme I remember (aside from Saidancing.gif).

Spanners in the works for skill gap is teamwork and randoms vs. partied up regular teams. That doesn't even start the discussions about the nature of online gaming and fairness in terms of skill gap. It also excludes any metrics based on regional times playing, available player pools and so much more.

So many forget how much a team and/or individual can bring beyond the skill gap based on mechanics alone.

LAN events/tournies are quite a different beast to online skill or ranking for example.

Yeah I think it's easy to have these discussion divorced from the reality of the environment the game exists in. It's a damn tricky balancing act.

This tier consists of log cabin 56k internet and fucking your sister, all while shitting on you in Halo.

Will Halo 2:A, H3 and H4 have fileshare support in the collection? What about screenshots that are uploaded to Waypoint like they are now?

O'Connor tells Joystiq that it is also still exploring options for 'Fileshare,' a web-based archive of player screenshots, clips and Forge creations that could be shared with the game's large community.

"We're going to have it," O'Connor says, "it's just a matter of deciding where it goes. We're still evaluating." When asked if 343 could leverage the OneDrive app featured on Xbox One as a player's personal file archive, he noted that the complication with using it revolves around the file types used for player creations in the Halo titles featuring Forge.

Fileshare archived a limited number of player-selected uploads to Bungie.net, the website for the franchise's creator and former curator. For a nominal fee, Halo players could also expand their online archive capacity.

starting to get that old HaloGAF feeling again...now all we need now is some sarcastic TrueSkill screencaps of unbalanced teams/lopsided victories and cries to hire Juices

Everyone here is terrible at Halo.

The only good Halo players here are Juices and Cyren.

Tiers here are:

Good - Juices, Cyren

Decent - Orichwhatever, Devo, Mix, IceDoesntHelp, U4ix, Nebula

Terrible - Zoojoo, Francas, The other Franca brother, Biggy

Pretty Sure they're AFK - YourExWife, Heckfu, Ghazi.

Is there like a lower tier than terrible? I thought I was at least ok until some of those HaloGAF customs nights. Now I play with my 9 year old ...who is getting better than me.

oh RIP Speedy.

Guys, Speedy was banned in the White Cops Kill Black Teen For Dating Their Daughter thread for proposing that they were just demented and that it wasn't actually a race issue. It's how Nowise got the hammer, too.

Damn that sucks. It's why I tend to play it safe in "charged" threads. Doesn't sound permaban worthy. Maybe we'll get another new alt here if it is though.

To be fair, while Speedy's still pretty young, I think it's a policy change that's worth it in the long run. It's been brought up several times in minority community threads that it's pretty jarring when certain posters go off the rails with blatant ignorance, racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, etc. veiled or not only to get a temp ban and be back without having learned anything on their return. NeoGAF is definitely starting to experience a shift into a more politically-correct center-left mindset and I respect them for sticking to it and actually keeping people out if they don't comply. There's a lot of other communities out there where shit like "i'd gargle her bath water" or "i only see the human race," etc. are a little too commonplace for comfort. You'll get people like speedy caught in the crossfire, but ultimately, I'd even give up my own account if it meant GAF strode for stronger equal representation, which is already pretty well on its way.

I think they're a bit ban-happy these days, but ultimately it's a private website. They can be as reasonable or as capricious as they want, no one is entitled to be here.

If anyone's interested in some Halo merch, Petetheduck's selling off some of his stuff due to personal circumstances. A few of them are rare/limited stuff so if you want it, now's a chance to score some new stuff and help the guy who made that Speedrun game and a huge amount of other content we like out.

Maybe, but probably doesn't compare to all those personal attacks you and KyleJ made against Shishka, other people at Bungie, and 343.

Our attacks were never personal but a mere attack at the quality and choices in their work.

Halo is dead now so who ultimately was correct?

Hi HaloGAF, I'll use this wonderful post as my leaping off point.

Sub-Zero is right. What once flew on GAF no longer flies on GAF. Go back as few as five or six years, and you'll find people calling each other "gay" and "fag", but none of you would do that now, because you either have grown past it, or know you'll catch a ban.

In a very similar way, Halo GAF is going to be respectful to people who aren't young men. This includes, old people, women, transgendered members, etc.

If HaloGAF can't manage this without massive moderator intervention, then there will be massive moderator intervention.

So, given this, a couple of points:

1) This is not a locker room. Keep in mind that this thread, because it's focused on Halo -- an incredibly popular, mainstream game -- is going to have a higher percentage of non-young white dudes than much of the rest of the forum. Which means if you wouldn't say it in front of a mixed-race, mixed-gender crowd in real life, you probably shouldn't say it here.

2) Like all community threads, you are required to be inclusive to newcomers. This is going to be a big issue when the MC Collection rolls out. There are going to be plenty of new folks, and we expect you to welcome them and treat them well.

That's all. Have fun, and I'll be back around when I need to be, or when some Halo actually comes out.

Just wanted to say this is the best post you've ever made.

But there hasn't been any problems since the thread unlock? People have been, and continue to be respectful and just discuss Halo, so I'm not sure if the warning is warranted here no?

I think future threads need this included in the OP.

I remember a fairly recent post from David Ellis that more or less said to treat the people here like you would if they were sitting across a table from you at a social gathering. Great way to look at it, and it's kept me (knocks superstitiously on wood) ban-free since I joined GAF.

Looking forward to being carried by you guys again in Halo soon.

Yeah, that's a pretty good way of looking at it. You wouldn't tell members of Bungie and 343 they should be fired because you disagree with how they handle their job, for example.

It just won't be the same not being able to carry Therms & EZB to 50. Where's Metroidvania when I need him?

Metroidvania definitely still frequents GAF, I think he's just left halogaf.

Just wanted to say this is the best post you've ever made.

I think he's just elaborating on my post to establish that "don't be a dick" is an actual rule, not just a recommendation as per my request in the OP. That and preparing us for the onslaught of newcomers come MCC's release.
