I really didn't want Duck Hunt Dog in the game, but honestly I think the fact that he has the duck with him makes him a thousand times more endearing. It's too adorable.

Something I noticed in Training mode
When paused, the models for the characters look great, but in motion they downgrade substantially (look at Mario's hands or Link's boots)

But because the camera is so zoomed out during fights, we can barely notice it. Ignore me if old. I just thought it was an interesting thing Sakurai did. Models still look good either way.

This was probably Nintendo's train of thought for having melee at evo
[EVO2k13] Nintendo learns about evo>[EVO2k14], they used melee to advertise smash 4>[Evo2k15] Smash 4 at evo is good advertisement.
I'm pretty sure Nintendo is not gunna let Melee be the main Smash game at evo but it will be a third stream side event.
It will depend on how the community embraces the game. It's a lot like the MvC2 vs. MvC3 situation. If most of the community moves on to Smash 4, Melee will be done at Evo. Especially when we have GGXrd, P4AU, and MKX coming out in the next year. There won't be room for two Smash games.

I wouldn't mind Melee still co-existing with Smash 4 at EVO. It would be pretty appropriate given Melee really put out all the exposure we have now. I just reeeally hope like random25 said that Smash 4 is seen as "the next step" in competitive Smash. I love watching Melee, but at the same time it is time to move forward. Even if custom movesets don't make it to competitive metagame.

#Smash4ForEVO

Also people have to realize getting the equipment for a huge melee tournament is not easy. Notice how the evo staff had to get smashers to bring equipment both years whereas now they have a ton a hd monitors due to the other games being in hd and I'm sure Nintendo will provide systems if they need them. So if it comes down to getting equipment its easier on the evo staff to run smash 4 over melee.

Most people are ok with smash 4, the only people I see complaining are melee purist. Also Evo's only gunna pick one Anime game Kappa

That is interesting.

It seems like this game really had to work for it's performance.

Ha! that is amazing. Great way to give us better pictures without sacrificing the gameplay

And now imagine having to manage that with 8 ice climbers...

Did we know that Mac's 1hko punch got nerfed before launch? I just saw a guy use it and the opponent didn't even go into the blast zone. Though they were only at like 4%.

So I've been sort of drifting in and out of Smash 4 discussion the past few days and haven't seen GAF's take on this busted circle pad thing. Is it bullshit or shouldI be concerned about my XL :(?

That's genius.

It was never truly an OHKO, I don't think. I seem to remember a couple times in the E3 demo when it failed to KO at low percentages.

That was nice finding you got there.

The ClashTournaments stream was fantastic. People are starting to adapt to the game and the matches are becoming more exciting with all the off-stage play and offense. It's too early to tell where the meta will go, or how positively or negatively custom moves will affect characters, but those matches gave me hope.

Guess I missed that. How low does it kill at then? 30%? 50%? It looks like it consistently launches you straight up like rest, so I'm guessing there's a point where it does become a true 1hko.

I like how the two NES characters, ROB and Duck Hunt, each represent NES accessories. And Duck Hunt not only represents his namesake, but also Hogan's Alley and Wild Gunman. Sakurai getting some mileage out of that retro pick. :-D

All you need to know is that to do smash attacks you don't need to literally smash the circle pad. Learn to do quick, precise flicks instead and you should be fine.

Well, that's for the cases where the circle pad itself was snapped off. The cover simply slipping off can simply be attributed to time. It's also actually fixable IIRC.

See anything good yet? I heard the Cyber Grips are tough to remove once placed on.

Not anything that screams "must buy!" The CYBER one seems well-reviewed. As is the dreamGEAR Comfort one. But both mention flaws that make them not a perfect solution. I don't know. I might roll the dice and get the CYBER one and see what happens.

This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008ZXBYJU/?tag=neogaf0e-20

It's not cheap, but it seems good to me and as long as you're careful, it's not difficult to remove. There's a tab below the touchscreen you can pull on to lift the 3DS XL up. I still wouldn't want to take it on and off a lot though, for fear of scraping the 3DS XL or something. I just leave the stylus out all the time and there's no reason to remove the grip.

Despite the rubber coating mention, the grips are quite firm, not squishy.

So uh
How do you fix the 2nd case then, just glue it back on?

Reminds me of how polygonal characters often have a more detailed model for close up camera shots and a less detailed model for when the camera is zoomed out.
