I'm starting to think friends list has something to do with server problems.

With my account filled with DRIVECLUB-GAF friends I never could connect. With another account on the same console with 0 friends: managed to connect after starting the game.

Anedoctal evidence etc...

I bought the US digital version. No free Mercedes :(
Bonuses are only exclusives designs and first day unlock for cars, you know?
You'll be able to unlock all of the cars by playing the game (although some will need a club effort to unlock).

Thanks DRIVECLUB-GAF I know have 304 friends in my friends list, 99% of which intend to play DC.
I could connect for around 2 hours tonight, so not sure there's a relation.

I think he means the Mercedes AMG that is free day one DLC for everyone.
Ah? Got it on the EU Store today. Nope, now that I think again about it, I've probably got it from the Library menu.

Check the "my addons" section in the game page for Driveclub. It was there for me (EU, Plus upgrade version).

Can someone please explain the difference between the PS+ Upgrade Bundle($56.95) and non PS+ listing that says FULL GAME($79.95). This is Australia so the pricing will be different to most people here but I assume everyone still has the same two options for purchasing.

If my PS sub ends do I lose access to the game even if I pay the $56.95 upgrade? That seems extremely shady if so.

Same game. If you're logged in as a Plus-member, you should only have the cheapest option available.

No.

What's everyone's favorite locale? Hell, post your favorite track too if you remember what it's called.

I'm really digging Scotland.

I was waiting as many others for the PS+ edition to decide to buy or not the game but without an ETA for the demo I bought the game a few hours ago.

I am a fan of racing games, I am using the Thrustmaster T300 RS and this is my first impressions of the game:

- I believe its the best arcade racing game I have ever played.
- Graphics: Technically are not perfect but definitely are the most beautiful I have ever seen in a racing game. In some stages with all the effects and that perfect lightning I thought I was in a interactive video... Waiting for weather effects!
- Gameplay: Very fun. Very good stage designing. Challenging AI. Clean and fast UI. Waiting for the online part!
- Driving: Very accessible and fun. Even the slower cars are fun to drive. The feedback from the T300 RS is good but I would like a patch so the wheel can be more heavy and give stronger force feedback effects.
- Sound: I found it ok. No opinion for the music as I don't like music while racing. I would like to hear the super/hyper cars, I am hoping the sound will be better than the hatchbacks.

I played only the first event, even the game is very addictive, as I am waiting for the full experience with the online features.

No difference. You need to have PS+ during purchase. That's all

You won't

Tried just now and still can't connect to the servers I'm just going to hold off playing for a couple days until all of this gets fixed. Also, going into a corner in cockpit view with the sun glaring is equally awesome and annoying at the same time...lol

Great, thanks guys. Wasn't all that clear in the description, not for me anyway. 9 hours of work then 1 hour downloading the game before I play, hopefully server issues are solved by then! "fingers crossed"

THERE IS AI RUBBER BANDING -- of some kind.

Did an experiment.

Drive like a complete grandma, and the first place guy (semi-pro AI) finishes a two lap race at 1:40 and last place guy finishes 1:52 (me at 2:33). Spread from first to last AI is 12 seconds,.

drive competitively, and the first place guy finishes at 1:30, and the last place guy finishes at 1:37 (me at 1:35), AI spread is 7 seconds and oh look the first place guy now has found a way to gain over 5 seconds a lap - standing start means actually more than that. I imagine if I drove out the front of the first place guy he'd "find" yet more ability.

Also note that despite the first place guys being fast and the last place guys being slow, they travel as a pack. In a real race the field spreads out until the back-markers are lapped. Here they are pulled more together even over many laps.

So the AI drivers are attracted to your car. They try harder when you're in front, and back off when you're behind. They are also attracted to each other.

I know *why* developers do it, because they want everyone to experience the cut and thrust of side-by-side racing in a pack of cars, no matter what your ability. If the AI cars drove to their maximum ability from great to good, they would be strung out, and you'd either be in front or behind but rarely mixing it up.

So not everyone that "barely" wins a single player challenge vs AI is the same ability or has the same lap time.

Well I got online but my 600 long friendslist won't load so that I can scroll down and invite my brother to my team =/

Edit: Got disconnected =/

Do you need a seasonpass to play online? Maybe a stupid question but i neber bought a seasonpass before..

Nah, just PS+

Go to yyour club menu. Lower right hand corner "more"
And look for something like "add friends"
Or something along those lines.
You'll get a friends list that loads way faster and reliable.

Thanx!
So why would i buy a seasonpass? Is that just for non ps+ gamers?

It gives you a discount for buying access to all the DLC as a preorder bundle (though you can usually still buy the pass after all content has been released). It is if you want some or all DLC. It will be cheaper than buying all of them separate and the developer benefits because you no longer get to change your mind and decide not to buy any DLC, or to just read about each one in reviews first. You commit to all DLC and you get a discount.

Thanks for the tip. I will try this when I get reconnected.

Really loving this game, perfect for anyone who just wants to race.

Surprisingly I'm not that impressed with the graphics. They're not that sharp and some of the scenery is pretty inconsistent looking. The game looks stunning with the right lighting though.

I believe this. This is similar to the method I suggested in another post.

I liked GRID 1. Will I like Driveclub?

Was going to use the demo to find out, but now I'm deciding between this or Shadow of Mordor for this weekends binge.

New cars, tracks, challenges... Ans so on.

Cool, thanks for this! I'm inching closer and closer to buying the game outright.

Man, I would love to try a racing game with a wheel. I bet it's a blast.

Yeah, Rushy was very particular when discussing rubber-banding, making sure to point out that the AI in DriveClub cannot do anything impossible like getting supernatural speed boosts to catch up you like you might find in other games.

That doesn't mean the AI won't play up to the level of competition though. But they are still limited by the car and the need to feed in driving inputs.

Uh. This is probably one of my dumber moments but can someone tell me how to go in reverse with a t80 wheel? I haven't really figured the controls out yet lol.

This game is outstanding. Pure driving, play for improvement to the point of perfection. I've read PGR comparisons but would say this is more along the lines of a MSR debut. You can tell the next iteration - should there be one - will take the game to the next level. 60fps would be very nice but can understand the compromise. Can't wait for the dynamic weather update.

This is a much different game than the excellent Forza Horizon 2. The two will not cannibalize one another. Take comfort in owning and playing both even over the same period of time.
