Final Fantasy XIII PC |OT| Lightning must not be forgotten

Still can't get my xbox 360 controller to work with this game for whatever reason. It just keeps on randomly scrolling through the menu super fast. Guess I'll just stick with mouse and keyboard for now.

I see Durante sports a new tag under his username. Well deserved. Let's see how this unfolds because with custom UI mods and such this could truly get awesome.

Just tried the game and while it runs butter smooth, yeah, it's locked to 720p and I'm getting some random dips out of the blue, which shouldn't be happening since my video card, while being a POS, is barely moving an inch with this game...

But how the mighty turned the tides, even when he really didn't have to.

Hopefull Squeenix learns something for this so XIII-2 and LR don't go through the same problem? (Wishful thinking.)

Has anybody come up with a solution for the framerate stuttering, or is that just a reality of this port right now? I'm getting 60fps, like, 95% of the time, but the stutters are fairly frequent, if short.

Seems like the reality of the port right now.

sucks, cause 60fps was gonna get me to run through this again starting today. I can't deal with the heavy frame rate fluctuations, it's like the one technical graphical thing that'll really put me off and it's as bad as I've ever seen it in this game (on my rig.) 30-60fps is too big of a range.

You know guys, in all honesty if you are playing on a 1080p TV set this actually looks really good with forced 16xAF and 32xAA in nvidia settings. I tried Durante's fix and it definitely looks sharper but not too much on a TV screen.

I am sure a PC monitor benefits 20x more from the fix but on a TV the 720p with the forced settings is pretty good, and also has less issues with fps and text etc at the moment.

Oh and the CG cutscenes are also definitely better than the 360 ones, if not the same as the ps3 ones. Maybe slightly more compressed but barely.

Guys help me.Why am I getting below 30 FPS with this set up ????? Shouldn't I be able to get 60 FPS ? Please HELP ME FIX THIS :( :( :(

Don't forget, folks, that many framerate problems are caused by the game not pushing your GPU hard enough, so your video card goes into a low-power mode, killing the framerate. There are some ways you can fix this, like forcing your video card to do anti-aliasing (to push it harder) and stuff.

I did everything, both power settings in nvidia and windows control panels, maxed the nvidia settings, no change...still 60fps with some stutters on the field and lower 30s to 50ish in fights. And wouldn't the durante fix theoretically create the result of your GPU waking up? That just tanked it further for me to 30 field, 30 in fights, even just at 1080p. this is with a 570gtx and i5-2500k @ 4.2 ghz

durante has this note on his blog:
The game performs really well from what I’ve seen, both GPU and CPU-wise. But their frame limiting/pacing stuff sometimes seems to bug out.

maybe that second sentence becomes a more pronounced problem on older hardware

I'd hate to say it but I reckon your GT 620m is slightly below the recommended requirement of GTX 460. This might be the reason why silky smooth 60 FPS might not be achieveable with your lappy right now.

Its below 30....

I can play Dark Souls 2 confidently higher than 30 FPS and it performs better than PS3 version.

I want this to play better than the PS3 version.

I know its weak but its not weaker than PS3 :/

compared to the game's requirements ? I want to play this on my laptop.

SE has a GTX 460 listed under the recommended specs. That card is about four times as powerful as your laptops GPU. Just saying.

All you can do is make sure your GPU and your CPU aren't underclocking themselves for power saving reasons, and if you're dealing with a lot of framerate fluctuations there are a few programs that will let you cap your framerate at 30.

ummm I should get a better performance than PS3 at any rate right ?

Portable XIII not happening.

I'm sure someone's asked about this by now but 80 pages of hype and despair is a lot to go through. Does anyone have problems seeing the controller button icons in menus? I change it from keyboard type to controller type but then it just turns all the icons blank :(

Hopefully this helps. You'll want to enable GPU scaling.
gpuscaling3.jpg
Thanks that works but I wonder what it's actually doing. Is it actually cutting off the left and right vertical sides and just scaling the image up? The ratio appears to be correct and it doesn't look like there's anything in the menus cut off so I wonder how it's displaying it correctly.

edit: The radio buttons aren't enabled for me.

edit2: wth I just disabled the GPU scaling option and it still no longer shows the horizontal black bars. I updated my Catalyst Control Center before doing it and wonder if updating it actually fixed it.

Restart the game.

Are you using gedosato and if so have you edited the profile? it might be on 4k by default.

I honestly can't believe they set the ESC button to actually exit the game completely. I think I pressed Esc by accident three times already. Ffs.

I am not using or applying anything.

I am running the raw game and that performance is like below 20 FPS.

This is soul crushing.

Damn, sorry. The only other thing I've seen people do is turning on the Prefer maximum performance option for Power management mode in the Nvidia control panel but it doesn't seem to work for everyone.

I'll try fiddling with the control panel...

I am sure I can get better than that...

I want this portable dammit.

Can I run this at 60 with my 460?

I'm running it on a 640 and I've had a great experience so far. Haven't checked specific framerate, but it's not at a constant 30FPS, I can tell you that much. Majority of it is very fluid, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're 60fps.

Not sure why, but this game is really laggy for me. I've seen people on this thread post lower specs than mine and say they run at 60 fps with no drops. Here are my specs, anyone have any ideas?

Intel i3 2.93 ghz
Radeon HD 7770
6 GB RAM

Disappointed at the lousier cutscenes and CGI:(

My pc is not exactly the best (i3, Radeon 5770,4 gig ram) so I can't get 60fps anyways.
