This game is really something else. At one time I get extremely frustrated when the AI fucks me up or I can't get the last seconds out of a time challenge. Then when I finally managed it I celebrate like Vettel at his first championship. My emotions, Evo !

Here in Australia I have had the game since the 7th and still haven't had the servers work once. Even now they are down and can't even join/make a club. Really annoying. Sort og tempted to try for a refund just out of principal. If this was a 3rd party game they would be getting even more crap from people. If u pay money for a game I could let it go for a day or two but 4 days so far, I mean really...4 days!

They need to either just remove collision penalties or actually enforce them properly.

Got pit manoeuvred online more times than should be allowed an nobody gets penalties.

What is the point of the penalties that are supposed to encourage accuracy when they essentially do nothing in practicality?

/post online race rage

Yup. I haven't played the game yet, but it's something I'm not looking forward to. That shit shouldn't go unpunished. If that's one of the areas you choose to make your racer sim like, then make sure you do it right. Everyone should be looking to move along through a race without a scratch if you're going to impose those penalties.

Indeed. The penalties just seem to be useless.

That said, I've found that making a huge effort to jus stay the hell away from everyone in the first lap, including braking early when someone is side n side into a corner, will eventually let you pass all the crashers as they fight each other and the walls and I usually have nice battles nearer to the front.

The problem is when the drivers are good and also dirty

The evening levels at dusk, where you don't have headlights on, are tough for me to see. I guess it's kinda realistic but also not fun to be constantly squinting. I have a 58" TV too.

Yep. And I'm playing on a 32'' one. Going at full speed while not knowing what's up ahead can be thrilling and the handling has been forgiving enough to lend me the patience to memorize the tracks, but in certain Time Trials I've definitely wished the curbs would stand out a bit better.

Good god, just got booted twice in a row from my singe player race due to a network error. I really like this game but it's unbelievably sloppy.

Do you have an example screenshot of the kind of conditions you refer to?

Evening levels are the best time of day for most locations for me.

To the members of GAFCLUB Panda, whenever the servers let me connect I will try my best to fix up our color scheme and badge.
If you have any suggestions just send me a message with a picture on the PS4!

Yersteday i succeded in playing online for a good hour.

Usual online population, some competent and polite guys, some desctruction derby fans.

Apart from that connection was solid, very few cars warping, let's say one every couple of races ( and when it happens they become transparent with disabled collisions )

I decided to make a GAF club: MaritimeGAF for anyone interested. Add baconcow1812 and send a request. Located in Nova Scotia, Canada.

You just reminded me saying about solid connection and warping.

Someone said yesterday about every car becoming a ghost car. I think the ghosting is when there is lag, so you don't have a solid object teleporting places, at least I have had a few people become ghosts and re-appear and when they were ghosts their player name was jumping about.

If that is the case, a neat idea.

Oh god nice. Unlocked club cars are unavailable when offline. And the points of my final race weren't added to the club level. Surely club progress could have been saved locally until connection is restored?

In the single player? That never happened to me but I haven't played since Thursday night. Maybe they're testing different ways of connecting to the server?

I agree. If i remember well they used the same trick in Motorstorm. Works well

Well that first online race was sure an experience. At the starting line everyone raced ahead while I went backwards, because apparently my car decided to start in reverse (wtf this has never happened before!) and then halfway through three of us are lagging out side by side...then I lost connection. :'(

I finally got online long enough to create a club last night and then sign in to my friend's profile to join my club. I deleted my save so I could get those sweet star xp bonuses and it retained my driver level and all the cars I had unlocked. The only thing that reset was the tour progress.

Edit: I haven't checked if it reset my accolades yet.
Edit 2: It does reset the accolades.

Hello everyone! :)

My impression of this game, coming from somebody who was hyped for its arrival but felt unsettled following the mixed reviews... honestly, I was disheartened at first. The early tracks were unimpressive and the standard cars lacked acceleration. The game lacked punch and it was hard to not feel disappointed.

Fast-forward a few hours... once the tracks and faster cars open-up... a complete reversal of opinion. The sense of speed and environments begin to resemble the videos and gifs people have been posting here for weeks. I'm learning to slow my approach and 'glide' through corners, tapping the accelerator to 'feel' the limit, before pushing hard again upon the exit. The bonnet and floor cam is most exhilarating when chasing down other cars. Progression is going remarkably smooth.

Driveclub was criticised by some reviewers because the AI cars bunch up into 'trains', but I enjoy this aspect enormously because it mirrors real life (e.g. Australian Supercars, British Touring Car Championship). The AI cars that fall behind the leading pack begin to 'draft' one another in order to maintain a competitive speed. In Driveclub we find 2, 3 sometimes 4 chains, with cars making the break in between. To repeat, this something we observe in motor sport all of the time. To turn this into a negative is beyond absurd, and shows just how far some reviewers were prepared to stretch in order to dismiss this game.

No thoughts to share about competitive multiplayer (zero access). It's difficult to see how the last several days could have gone worse for Evolution. lol They just need to come good on their intentions and prove the critics wrong (weather updates, new tracks, additional cars, etc).

Side note: I purchased a 32" 1080p television for this game. The jump from 700p to 1080p is more impressive than what I expected it to be.

Evo better give us a few extra free cars for this server debacle

Agreed, i kinda expect a store credit and them to discount the game or something

Yea , there really is no better method, when you have 12 cars going 130mph covering huge amounts of space 'per ping' its just natural to have lagging , ghosting cars is the only way to prevent chaos .

Of course people will complain about it because 'internet is gonna internet '

Games condition is improving daily now

Maaaan someone else in this dilemma, too?
I mean we got 3 free games this month, and I'd love to play them...
...but I keep staring at the homescreen of Driveclub instead, waiting for it to connect.
For hours.
And hours.

You need two members.

I've finally cleared that pesky Marussia drift event with 9,705 points. Car feels like soap lol

Yo, this is so true. The first time me and my friend were able to play a multiplayer race, it was with this car only and god damn, we could not control that car for the life of us. That car must have like 0 handling lol.

pretty sure no.

believe the club is inactive until at least 1 person joins

(based on vids ive watched. still waiting for PS+)

Yeah, managed to set up a club and it's set to inactive.

Wow, got connected for the first time last night. Played a couple of online races, and it was so buttery smooth. Other than each opponent having their PSN Avatar above their cars, it was like playing single player. Not lag, no stuttering, no lag skip, it was pretty awesome.

Pretty positive you need at least 2 members to earn points.

If you are a member of a club, every time you race you will make points for the club (when connection issues are sorted), but you need at least two people to make a club initially.

I figured as much.
Hopefully, they get the server issues ironed out and people join my club.

I assume you can join multiple clubs at once.

It actually has really good handling, but you need to go a little easy on the accelerator. It's so powerful, the rear wheels constantly want to break loose.

Yeah that was literally the first time I used the car. At the end of the race I was starting to get the hang of it. Then after I got disconnected from the servers anyway :(. I really hope for them to get the servers up and running soon. I would really like to have a couple beers tonight and do some intense online racing.

Club progress doesn't seem to do that. they should try and fix that if possible. They should be able to retrospectively assign points to clubs if you've been offline for a while.

When the hell is online going to work? Still have not created or joined a club and l can't get some of cars until I've goddamned levelled up within a club.

What a shit.
