BUT

This only works if you can properly assign blame for a given collision. That's what really needs to be fixed -- getting sideswiped off the road by another AI driver and then eating a corner cutting penalty on top of that is just awful. They should make it so that if you were hit off the road by someone else, you shouldn't get a off-road/corner penalty. However, this could lead to some weird play in team races (where you intentionally bump a teammate off the road so they can take a shortcut). Who knows.

How do you determine blame though? In an online race, what if I come barrelling down the inside of a corner way too fast just as you turn in, and you hit me? You aren't at fault but you'd get the penalty while I'd get away with it.

I really can't see this game getting a sequel at this rate. Lots of negativity from players and the media does not a good brand make. Sony has GT for the big sales, and this is too similar but worse in most ways - how can it have a future? Does anyone know what the budget was for this?

Have to be honest, I have had about 3 penalties in the time I have been playing, up to level 28 now, total none issue for me.

also lvl 28, have to agree 100% on this.

what I read about bad penalties and very aggresive ai has never been problem for me.
basically ai stays in the front a bit, then is back never heard again. no problems. (when you'll play online, you'll understand just how tame the ai is :D )
about track penalties, I'm more pissed with the way that game removes the luminosity from the track than any penalty about crossing something somewhere.

speaking about the devil, is there by any chance a way to fix the time of day in the career events? like, set by user?

Omg, this game is amazing! Finally got it and been playing it non stop. Having loads of fun going through the challenges. Driving just feels great. And the graphics and the scenery, holy shit, incredible.

That's like saying, "MS has Forza, so why have Horizon?"

Yeah, so true.

I've had AI rub paint with me and seemingly try to edge me off, but that's racing, that's aggression. To be expected, and if we're honest - far worse than I'm sure what most of us are doing to them.

With AI you are damned if you do and damned if you don't really. If they touch your car they are far too aggressive and unfair, if they don't they are slow and boring. Hard to win that battle. Personally I think the AI suit the game, and the contact goes both ways!

Is there any way you can 'force' the game to connect online? Does it only try to connect once, or does it try every time you start an event or get back to the menu?

Not sure I understand - the career events have specific settings that play into the difficulty of the event itself - if you could tweak the settings that'd be like cheating.

You can do what you want in single event mode though - outside of the career.

Came home from work to find DC waiting for me. Played it none stop since, even got a couple of online matches in after this latest patch, loving it so far.

Pre-update it was trying nearly all the time which was what was killing the servers. Now I guess it will do it only post-event.

You don't need to do anything it will keep trying for you in the background.

Connected for me when idle. It still retries.

A.I for me is groovy!
If Im quick, they can't catch me ( yeah I'm that good ). I don't mind rubbing up against them, and i won't deliberately ram them to get by. I'll use the brakes to avoid all the time. They don't do the same of course, but I don't feel I'm been cheated in anyway, and not once is there any sense if rubber banding with the A.i.

Enjoying the game hugely! So many cars and tracks still to see! Can't wait for the full compliment of online features to be available to all, and then of course the major game and content updates!

Love it.

Great video. Personally I've put about 5 hours into the game so far and think the AI is great, admittedly I question the traction they get when accelerating after corners but besides that I've had no problem whatsoever with them. At the end of the day them being aggressive is so much better than them being passive and not even attempting to overtake.

Is it possible to delete a profile and start over? I'm considering getting this game now but I want to experience it "fresh" with the weather update, too.

Good stuff.

I think that before anybody criticizes the AI they should also consider how much they actually use their rear-view mirror. If you were racing on an actual track you'd also need to be aware of the cars behind you as well as those in front, to avoid collisions on either end.

It can be tough in DC because the tracks can be very narrow and you can end up literal inches away from the cars in front of you, at speed, but you have to be ready for them to brake, and be careful of your own braking when it concerns the cars that are on your ass too.

I've only had one event so far that felt overly violent - am pretty sure it was the last event in the Amateur Championship. But I wish I recorded it or had the replay to look back on.

There's a tip sometimes that say something a "free ride" And that you can do time compensation or something like that I can't remember exact wording. To me it sounds like you can speed up the time of day during a free ride or something right? Anyone?

The weather will not be added to the current campaign events, only to future season pass events, so there's not really anything to start over for in regards to the weather.

I think it's possible to delete your progress yeah, the thing is though since the existing tour events weathers' are pre-determined, the weather update won't change any of those events, just the future events in the season pass.

During the single events you can change time compression to your liking, the modifiers are x1, x15, x30, x45 or x60.

They could update them though, couldn't they? Or have they announced that it's going to be the way yous are saying?

For those who are connecting now, are challenges still disabled?
Yes.

Expect this:
Servers working in stable state for everyone, that means you boot the game, you're instantly online. Once that point occurs Challenges will be re-enabled. Assuming all is well and no more flakey situations the PS+ Edition will launch. If it still holds up to all those people, the app will launch.

Will the AI spin out or take a corner too fast? I remember from playing GT5 that just that would happen from time to time; they'd take a corner too fast and end up in the gravel or even hit a wall. Driveclub's AI looks like it's magnatized to the track/road and the only mistake it makes is that it sometimes crashes into other AI cars or the players car. Correct?

Update is up for America!!!
