I'm not one of "those" haters, but I was pretty disappointed with DKR. Just calling it as I see it.

That was a producers screening. This was a critics screening.

Well, this is a good point! I wasn't that was the situation with DKR. These impressions sound good and are from a wider audience.

Please can the OT have a brief, simple explanation of the effect on time fast travel has?

Don't want to have to read 00s of posts saying 'But his daughter gets Older AND HE DOESNT. This is shit, Nolan plot hole rubbish.

I'm expecting at least some critics to say something along those lines.

There were some bits in the trailers where somebody looked like losing it behind a locked door. I guess we're still getting that

Yep.. I'm not very fond of that "craziness" in movies. Will see, I belive there will be more than that.

Despite all the praise, I still has very little expectations. I haven't been too receptive to the trailers.

I'm wary not because of the trailers, but because I swear this same shit went on with TDK and Inception. I really enjoyed those films, but god damn at people claiming them to be masterpieces, best movies of all time, etc. I try to keep my expectations very low.

I'll admit that it's hard after reading the past few pages.

That's exactly how I'm feeling. Those movies weren't bad, but they weren't that good either. I really like the theme of this one, however, so I'll be more forgiving if it turns out to be overrated.

Remember when Dark Knight Rises got a 20 minute standing ovation at its first screening?

Just saying guys... try not to get too hyped from early reviews.

Already addressed but wanted to add

The Dark Knight Rises received that applause from WB producers and executives. Not critics.

And that same group of WB top guys gave a similar response to TDK. And at that time it was mentioned these are the same people who usually don't bother with even viewing summer blockbusters, even if they are their own studios. They just view them as cash cows and nothing more. So to get a positive response from this group was of note.

Point being executives aren't dumb. They know Batman movies, after Batman Begins, are going to make tons of money. They don't need to put out hype stories to boost the marketing.

We all know movies which don't screen well either get pushed to lesser movie months, delayed, or released direct to dvd. We hear all the time when movies have poor internal reviews. Why are those reports legitimate but when movie execs like something it's automatically some sort of stunt to trick people into watching?

It could just be some movies don't work for you on a personal level even if execs, critics, and fans really liked them. Avatar was that movie for me.

Am I the only one sees a lot of parallels with the 1997 movie Contact?

-movie is abt a father/daughter relationship.
-both films feature mcconaughey
-Contact was written by Carl Sagan with some input from kip thorne - kip thorne is also the input on this film.
- Lynda Obyst was producer on contact, and producer on interstellar.

I'm sorry Ex, but I find that hilarious coming from you. :)

I haven't watched a piece of media since the first theatrical trailer launched. Keeping my eyes and ears closed during pre-movie trailers has been a royal pain.

I need someone to sell me on seeing this in IMAX because I literally have the Fandango page open and I'm right on the fence. My only reservation is that the entire film wasn't shot in 70mm so it makes me feel a little uneasy about paying the premium for it...

It's very possible that you will never see the full 1.43:1 70mm compositions again if you miss this on IMAX film.

Do it

Trust me

To be fair, TDKR wasn't worth it in IMAX. Given the subject matter of this film though, it's likely to be fucking perfect for an IMAX viewing experience.

I really wish Nolan would do some R&D to cut the noise down on the IMAX cameras he loves using so much. This variable aspect ratio stuff starts to feel obnoxious after a while. I wanna see him shoot an entire film in IMAX.

Also, I thought the IMAX reel runtime limit was 2h46m, while this film is 2h49m. I'm hoping he's squeezed it just under (likely) so we don't have to go through a fucking 15 minute intermission reel change.

That KODAK Laser Projection upgrade can't get to IMAX soon enough.

I haven't been to an IMAX showing since Avatar premiered.. I don't think anything has changed, right?

Yeah, it is pretty disappointing that their upgrade is only taking us to 4K. But a 4K HFR 3D presentation of Avatar 2 at Sydney IMAX is something I'm already frothing at the mouth for.

I can't tell if its just our internet echo-chamber, but I've never really seen the importance of 70mm marketed ever before like it is here. It really does make you wonder about the future.. I just watched The Avengers on Netflix last night and I see such a perfect dichotomy between the two. One is all digital, incredibly product driven and heavily influenced by television. The other is an a larger than life piece of art with reserved seating. Both big budget blockbusters about the fate of the planet but starkly contrasted.

Something just seems so royal about Interstellar's premiere. Straight up old world Hollywood. Who knows.
