I would imagine it is probably something like. COD: G, COD: AW, Fifa, Fifa, Destiny and Titanfall.

TLOUR was around 70k for those asking.
I'm not sure if FIFA 14 XB1 sold that much... how much Xbox One sold in UK debut? That saying that every Xbox One owner bought FIFA 14 (if I'm not wrong you have the option to choose FIFA 14 or Forza 5).

Edit - Xbox One sold 150k in first week: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/xbox-one-sells-150k-units-in-first-week-in-uk/0124857 how much of these were FIFA 14?

Edit 2 - FIFA 14 all plataforms estimates: FIFA 14 (+328%) - 177,500

The question is why is Unity down then?

Is it all down to the reviews? I find it hard to believe it's apathy for Ubisoft style of open world gameplay when Watch Dogs sold so damn well.

i'm not surprised at AC;unity most of the ps4/XB owners are the hardcore crowd, and the major outlets have giving it pretty average scores, along with other major releases hurting it.

Was Beyond Gotham not released on the Wii U yet, or is it really just that much of a pariah in the territory...?

I would have thought it was the type of broad demo third party title that would perform [relatively] well on the system.

I think Lego Batman and Lego Hobbit are the Lego games that don't seem to do that well on Wii U/Wii. Well, this is the UK, so it wouldn't have done well anyway.

But I think in NPD, games like Lego Marvel still perform well on the Wii U compared to the other current gen consoles.

Franchise fatigue?
Marketing? (The franchise has been marketed alongside Playstation for many years, could a shift to Xbox marketing have any negative effect? )
Perception? (What if the lack of a 5 behind AC is deemed as a negative point? A spin-off title instead of a flagship numbered title )

Watch_Dogs didn't have the best reviews in the world either, yet it sold gangbusters.

PES has been down so much in recent years that Konami is now in a position where they're going to have to regain trust from users.

True, maybe it will stick around longer once people hear PES is actually good again. Anyway, still hoping for some cheap UK prices soon. I am selfish like that. ;)

Probably "bad" Reviews and bad word of mouth™ due to the glitches/technical perfomance.

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
If the numbers are accurate :

Watch_Dogs PS4 SKU > AC Unity PS4 + XB1

A new Ubi IP that launched dead in summer sold more on the PS4 alone than their holiday flagship established IP on all platforms.
This pleases me. Watch Dogs should be Ubisoft's flagship franchise going forward. This is good. So much potential, and the first game was already pretty damn awesome.

I didn't buy unity because of franchise fatigue. Even if the scores were really good, I still wouldn't have bought it. I'm simply just tired of the series. Same goes for call of duty, guitar hero, etc.

After playing the same series year after, you just get tired of it. Not really a mystery here why it didn't sell well. Scores also play a factor. But at the same time, look at destiny.

Black Flag's launch was staggered since next gen consoles were releasing at different times. Similar to COD Ghosts.

And Black Flag was also had the benefit of last gen...so with that logic, shall we combine Unity and Rogue sales?

(I get what you're saying, but it shouldn't be a direct comparison)

It is obvious however that the bad press may be affecting some sales

I think he meant PS4 versions outselling the Xbone versions

AC has been marketed alongside PS for so long that even taking into account bundles, it's not strange that PS4 outsells XB1 imo.

Less so for CoD, but we'll see if that's true for the US market.

Assassin's Creed series in the UK

First week sales: (100%)

Assassin's Creed - 179,000
Assassin's Creed II - 200,000
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - 254,000
Assassin's Creed: Revelations - 264,000
Assassin's Creed III - 394,000
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - 142,000
Assassin's Creed Unity - around 165,000

I think GTA 5 is going to take a bigger bite out of AC and Far Cry than Ubi would like to admit. Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the biggest launches of the year, especially in the UK.

Is Black Flag 360 and PS3 only or PS4 and XB1 first week included?

AC IV numbers were only PS3/X360. If you add PS4/XB1 launch week numbers IRC it goes to 260k. Still a drop but a lesser drop compared to AC III and on par with the rest of AC games.

AC: Unity shows the bigger problem though. Of course Ubisoft will say it's a smaller userbase thus less sales.

In my opinion the sales peaked at AC III, game was terrible, people started getting fatigued of the series and thus sales have been decreasing since then. Assassin's Creed was never a franchise to be milked every year because there is a reason why GTA games are such a beast, every release feels like a special day because it happens once every 4 years. AC could have been that special if they decided to take their time but Ubisoft saw the potential to finally get their COD or FIFA and now they are on verge of seeing it fall apart.

Watch dogs selling much more than Unity probably means that Ubi will make more games in boring and shitty locations, instead of AC's awesome ones...

What's the point of having co-marketing deals if every game sells better on the competitor's platform.

You have to consider how much wider the platform split might have been without the marketing deal. They got a pretty even result this time.

360 and PS3 but ACU is only PS4 and X1.

Fair enough, i think AC4s huge drop compared to 3 could be because a lot of people waited for the next gen version.

Could be far worse.
If you're Microsoft you don't want a Watch Dogs situation with too many big games.

Someone posted in the other thread, sales for ACIV on all 4 consoles during its first week of sale was 260K which apparently ACU and Rouge combined beat.

EDIT: ACIV debuted at Number 14 (X1) and Number 17(PS4). http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=722212

Doesn't AC: Rogue reuse some of the same assets (albeit at lower fidelity) as Unity (Versailles)? And one of the same maps as AC III (NYC?) They probably could have split resources and had a pretty similar launch to AC 4 combined.

Yeah, I thought so.

Also, it's about tying specific franchises to a particular platform brand. I think Sony was incredibly smart partnering with Watch Dogs and Destiny: by picking new franchises, they were able to much more successfully make them 'feel' like exclusives.

Conversely, series such as FIFA and Assassin's Creed have long been tied to the PlayStation brand, and while they may now have 'switched sides', it's going to be much harder for Microsoft to enforce them as 'Xbox games' -- particularly in Europe.

This also makes me wonder what's going to happen with Rise of the Tomb Raider - I've always felt like that's a very 'PlayStation franchise', even if recent efforts have been aligned with Microsoft.

I think the novelty of 3 being the first game set in America caused an aberrant sales spike.
AC3 was the first time they actually went all in on the marketing. They had a bunch of articles about this with various trade sites.

AC3 (12.5 million) and AC4 (11 million) both sold really well in the end. AC4's debut was just delayed somewhat due to the next-gen split.
