I got Yoshi and Kirby. They're -excellent.- I also got a good look at Mario, Donkey Kong and Fox in person, and they looked great, as well. Very solid builds, clean lines, etc.Oh man, Marth looks even worse than peach. Samus is the only good looking one out of wave 1.

Faith restored. Sounds good.No really. The implication was that even if there are 4 Mario Amiibos, they will all be considered "Mario" for the purpose of any games the require Mario. Saving, unlocking, whatever.
A lot of them had tiny flecks of paint in weird areas. Just a spot here or there that didn't belong.
Villager's nose is painted brown, many of them had an extra strip of brown below the nose, or a little too much paint on the nose that stretched off of it to the left or right onto the face.
All of this was VERY minor though. Had to look close to see it at all, I honestly probably wouldn't have had a problem with any of them, but since I was able to pick and choose obviously I got the best.
The Kirby amiibo will work with Rainbow Curse. He also offers a hilarious MK8 costume for your Mii. :-DKirby looks great too
too bad he doesn't really offer a lot in terms of DLC functionality yet
Ok, thanks for the help. I think I'll stick to my plan on going down to a retail store when they release in the UK (although I wonder how many GAME will stock), and seeing the differences for myself, since the quality doesn't sound consistent enough for me to not want to secure the nicest looking one I can. If the differences don't seem too major, I'll order online in the future.
So, will Zero Suit Samus sell five times any other single Amiibo or only four times?
For reference, here's her Smash pose:

So how exactly do these work? Can the Wii U pick up the signal without having to open them up? Seems like the bases are pretty close to the bottom of the packaging.

Nope there's a metal plate to prevent exactly that so people can't bring them home, scan them, and return them
No, there is a foil sticker underneath the base that stops it from reading through the packaging like Skylanders and Infinity figs do/can.So how exactly do these work?
