i thought it was a fan trailer with benedict cumberbatch voice over at the start tbh (i didn't see this thread, just youtube search'd it), but as soon as boyega popped up i was like

and then when the theme dropped with the falcon

sith lightsaber looks kind of stupid but the dude's whole walk and posture is really cool and menacing. almost stylized like a sith you'd see in a videogame or cartoon.

Watching that shot of the lightsaber gave me awesome darth maul memories, as much as the newer trilogy sucked darth maul was a badass villain (who was killed off way too early )

People just freak out over seeing a new version of something they're familiar with.

No doubt.

And I totally agree- if you just think it looks weird or off, that's fine. That makes sense, honestly, that's just straight up "I don't like the aesthetics" and there's no real argument against that. If you think the shit looks ugly - it looks ugly to you.

But I'm more speaking against people who are trying to come up with like, in-universe reasons for why such a thing couldn't possibly make sense - which seems like a strange endeavor to pursue considering STAR WARS. :)

Maybe the side lasers are for lighting his cigarettes.

Or maybe designed like the old swords, the side bits on his saber are like a hilt used in swords through out history. It is used so his opponents can't get to his hand. There is nothing wrong with the design.

I'm not getting the new lightsaber hate.

The dude clearly is not a Sith, as the Sith were wiped out when Anakin brought balance to the Force. Doesn't mean that there still can't be those who are strong with the Force, but don't follow the rules of the Sith, yet use the Dark Side of the Force.

As others have said, this saber clearly is different. You can see it pulsing, and crackling.

Huge SW nerd here. I have no issue with the Lightsaber, could care less.

The trailer tbh did nothing for me. I didnt get goosebumps or chills of excitement, it didn't really elicit any SW emotions. I did not like the cinematography and it just felt like a JJ film.

Im optimistic but I thought this trailer was meh. Hell even episode 1 TEASER trailer was light years beyond this and felt like SW. This felt like a teaser for another JJ Star Trek movie.

You know, the Sith looks pretty tall and lanky and the way it walks...I'm wondering if that's Gwendolyn Christie. Something about the way it moves is screaming Brienne to me.

Almost like he made it himself without a master around to show him how to do it.

Why the long case?
I don't care about lightsaber, or any of the weird objects.

All of the effects felt clunky and realistic, just like I always wanted. The sounds were amazing too. This seems like it will at the very least be a more visually appealing film than the prequels.

Hmm.. Aside from the incredible stupid "rule of cool" lightsaber, I just don't think the teaser was all that exciting. Everything about it felt very last minute, like a hodgepodge of random giffable scenes sewn together. Nothing escalated or made sense in sequence.

Bizarre teaser.

Loved the introduction to the characters. So much teaser with that opening. The guy really sold the fear of the unknown and imminent danger. I'm in.

Was that jump scare really necessary?... lol.
That Millennium Falcon shot paired with the SW theme was goosebumps inducing, watching that on the cinema would've blown my mind.
