I am glad I did not spend the majority of my life being obsessed with Star Wars to the point where I watched that trailer and had nitpicking....

because I thought it looked amazing...
I just hope JJ doesn't read threads like these and be like

"Hmmm, well the x-wing span is off by X amount of degree's so we should really"

no....he has the vibe right, that's all that matters to me

my thoughts, as a legit star wars kid who grew up watching the original trilogy over and over and over and often dreaming of a real sequel (not a prequel):

1) comical "ball droid" has me concerned, but I'll reserve judgement
2) daisy ripley or whatever her name is looks good
3) x-wings looked good
4) Millenium Falcon looked okay, if a bit too "CG" (which is what I have come to expect) and I noticed a few differences in appearance, which I suppose is natural sincethis ship is often modified
5) the claymore lightsaber made me laugh out loud. silly.

Looks like he encountered a few White Walkers.

For those complaining about the new saber, I dont know whether to laugh historically or cry. As far as the light saber concept itself, this design makes more sense from a real sword fighting perspective. The hilt is not simply for show. It's strategic.

Anyway. I love that the trailer feels new yet familiar. Can't wait for the full one.

If you guys want to know why the villian ignitied his saber in the woods based on leaked concept art descriptions...he is about to fight
Luke Skywalker

I'm going with it being
the leader of the new bad guys. Probably Andy Serkis.

Well so the guy in the Trailer is the Gravedigger. Would explain why Andy Serkis plays him because his Face must be messed up if those Artworks are true. Also he wears a Mask in the trailer if those pictures from starwarsunderworld are real.

The question is who do you guys think the bad guy is about to fight?

Daughter or Son of Luke. Anything else would make no sense for the involvement of the old crew.

The script was shit, so of course the dialogue was going to be shit too.

Hell, I busted out laughing when Ewan McGregor said that Anakin killed "younglings".

The whole experience was shit. Thank god we can look forward to the new trilogy.

I want to go through the first 6 again but now I remember how much I hated Episode 1 - 3

Crazy how the trailer matches the rumors.

The mystery box has failed.

That said...I m impressed. The trailer is tight as fuck. It conveys a lot very efficiently for what is both one movie and an IP relaunch

Also...Boyega s reveal is a nod to C3PO and is supposed to be funny

I was unsure about this trailer until I saw those X-wings. Then those feels came rushing back.

Also the first shot in the trailer is a man wearing an actual stormtrooper costume. Something the prequel trilogy never managed in three movies.

Every planet shot was very basic, no major sci-fi cities like in the prequels. Of course this is just a teaser but maybe JJ goes back to the simple themed planets of the OT. Like the snow forest planet, or the mountain planet.

I much prefer that, it feels natural at least instead of a CGI overload. The backdrop shouldn't be distracting and overly busy, should set a tone. That bad guy scene is cold, uninviting, alone.

oh yeah I remember that one.

There is no way in hell the Lightsaber sound we hear at the end isn't Luke's.

Yup they are real suits.

Yup, amazing. Actual humans in suits.

JJ tends to prefer using real props and sets for everything around the actors, and using CG for stuff that can't be done on a set, or using it to extend the background of a set (like out a window or something).

Yesss. I'm sure modern cgi troopers would look pretty good today, but the old cgi clones from the prequels have left too damaging an impression to this day.
