PS4 Remote Play working on any (rooted) Android 4.4+ phone

Honestly Sony should just sell the remote app on every platform and phone, instead of letting hackers eventually finding ways around it and they won't make any money. I would have bought the remote play app on iPhone for at least $19.99. Its dumb for them to lock it to the Z3 phones.

Yeah I don't think a feature like that would sell an expensive phone.

Finally got the damn thing working on my rooted kindle fire hd (used XPrivacy). Unfortunately it runs like crap and keeps disconnecting. Not sure its my wifi network (PS4 is wired) or slow processor on kindle. Any suggestions?

It could be the super low specs of the Kindle Fire. The WiFi hardware in that thing is probably super cheap too.

Do you have a Vita to test remote play normally on your network?

Well the wifi on it is pretty good as I get good speeds. But maybe hardware is not up to speed. Someone told me to turn off some setting on PS4 to not act as the router as that helps. Can't find that setting though. Don't have vita to test.

Sony should just release an iOS and android app for all to enjoy.

I really want to try this, but have some questions.

1) I have never rooted anything. I have a galaxy tab 2 7.0. This is not android 4.4. Can I upgrade to this then proceed?

2) What is the likelyhood of bricking my tablet? It's the only one I have, and don't really have money to replace.

3) Can by tablet handle it? Has anyone tried with it already?

Bumping this thread to to keep people updated.

New apk (version 0.6.1) has the following new features:
-Root check/APK signature check disabled
-Connection speed check removed
-XML/JAR dependencies removed
-Wifi check removed, you can now use remote play over Data with a fast enough connection.

Root is not required anymore!

Also, for those that are using touchscreen button mappers, you can download the ITB version of RP here. ITB = Invisible touchsceen buttons.

Root not required? where do I get this from, is it a simple as downloading and installing the app

This thread just makes me so confused why Sony hasn't implemented DS4 support with the Vita. I would imagine at this point its never happening.

There's a way you can do it. But you have to be within your Ps4's proximity.

Basically, remote play between your Ps4 and PSV. IIRC, turn on your Dualshock 4 and select a user. You'll then control the Ps4 (like regular) but the PSV will also display your Ps4, all while using the Dualshock 4.

Does the Sony Z3 clip thing for the DS4 work for other smartphones? Don't know whether it is specifically designed for the Z3 or is more generic.

Oh man that actually sounds pretty straightforward.
Ill look into it thanks.

The thing I use to connect my ds4 on my z3v is called Xperia Connectivity. It can also connect ds3 from this app. Maybe if this is possible to port it will work?

I couldn't (easily) find on the thread there, but what's DualShockManager.apk for exactly? Should I expect my DS4 to work now, or is it just for DS3 compatiiblity?

Dualshock 4 support yet?

This sounds awesome though. Going to install when I get home.

Was able to install the previous version, but now, even after uninstalling the old version, I just get "App not installed" on this updated copy.

I tried this and I didn't get trophies, the icon showed up but didn't stay on my account. I even checked the sub accounts and nothing. Played through the whole campaign of AW on the Vita.

Woah this is awesome news, I've been wanting to try this app for a while but didn't want to root my Nexus 7 just for it. Now that I don't need to, I've given it a small try and so far it looks great! Just in time for my account approval too :)

This method sucks because the vita screen dims after like 30 seconds of no input. There's no setting for that either, it was unavoidable last time I tried...

Someone modified the apk to work on devices running lower than 4.4. Loading it on my FireTV Stick to check it out as we speak.

I misunderstood, sorry. Hmm, are you rooted? You could maybe push/copy the apk into data/app or system/app manually. Set the permissions accordingly (rw-r-r) then reboot the phone.

Yeah, that'll be my next attempt, messing with the FTV thing for now tho. So many Android devices, so little time.

Just tried it with my Nvidia Shield, the game was buttery smooth but had an input lag of almost 1 sec. I'll try to mess with my setup a bit, but this was impressive to see.

Holy shit. I installed this on my Fire TV Stick and it works.

Playing GTAV in the next room (with my DS4 connected directly to the PS4 of course).

Sorry. Forgot to mention, you have to tie the Vita/Ps4 to a secondary/dummy account so that you select your primary user when you turn the Dualshock 4 on. This way, you get trophies on your own account.

It is either this method or the alternative. The alternative is there is no alternative.

Works fine for me, but the lack of tactile controller makes it a little awful. Might be good for using to force updates when you know they're available.

I'm trying to get this to work on my shield, but it won't connect to the PS4. It works fine on my Andorid 4.4 Z1, but the shield is 5.0. I've tried forwarding the ports, but I think i'm getting it wrong. What devices IP address am I supposed to put in? Shield or PS4?
