Driveclub weather update out NOW. laawwwwwd.gif

So I've got a lot of learning to do as I'm more of an arcadey racer guy (full throttle, lifting to drift etc). What are the best ways to take these corners without skidding out? I see the AI slowing down from top speeds without losing maneuverability. I do as soon as I let off the gas...

you won't lose control if you let off the gas and stamp on the brake, but don't go turning in at the same time, at least not at first.

Do most of your braking in a straight line, then turn in to aim for the apex and let off the brake at the same time, if you slowed too much you can get back on the gas earlier, otherwise get on it later. By the time you're full on the gas you will mostly be steering only a little bit, the car will carry itself outward, but before you've run out of track, you'll be all pointed straight ahead again.

For best times you might need to apply the throttle gradually from the apex onwards. Although you can get a controlled sideways corner exit drift with more power, it isn't good for your exit speed.

For longer tighter corners you can start to watch the speedo and next lap watch it again then work out what speed is at the edge of grip, or what speed to brake down to.

yeah you don't lose control per se but braking carries a lot of momentum, so if you brake before your corner arc (and especially during any sort of weight transfer over a bump), the momentum weight created by the brake can carry you in the wrong direction... I've been screwed a bunch of times where I am jerking or bumping against cars, or begin to brake for a corner with the wrong line as I come over a small bump before a corner, and the braking inertia totally carries me off the opposite side of the road instead of through cornering arc

Gentle throttle and brake control and caress the analogue stick for smooth momentum. Learn the track till you know it as well as your wife!

I was fooling around with the Shareplay editing software. It comes so close to be an awesome editing solution. But it needs just a little more. It definitely needs more options for the intros and outros.

But anyway...

Like i said, just experimenting. Nothing all that exciting happening in the race, just driving fast in the rain, snow, and transitions into night.

So rubberbanding, then.

Even after dozens of detailed explanations you can't understand?

Let me try a different approach.

Let's suppose you won a competition where the prize is the oportunity to race against F1 drivers in a F1 race.

So there you are, ready to race against Fernando Alonzo, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg and others. The race starts and after only two corners, you, that obviously sucks, are 20 seconds behind the last F1 driver.

Then, the F1 drivers feel sorry for you, and slow down waiting for you to catch up, so you can have fun feeling like you are driving among them.

But suddenly something unexpected happens: The Ayrton Senna spirit take control of your body, and start racing at the edge of perfection, overtaking all of the F1 drivers that, feeling the presence of the legend inside your car, try in desperation catch you.

But now they can't do anything. There's no magic inside their cars that would allow them to compete against the master of the speed. Even driving on their limits, the F1 drivers cross the line 10 seconds behind your car. And there you are, in glory. You have beaten the Pro drivers. Once you got the divine skills, there's nothing that could stop you from winning.

That's how driveclub works.

GT6 is so high in my book just because of the tribute they had in the game for Senna, Kaz knows his sport

Stay with the slow cars til you really get the hang of things. It might sound a bit boring, but a good way learn the game is to just get in the middle of the pack and stay there. Watch how and when they brake and pay attention to the lines they take. The hot hatches are also front wheel drive, so its damn near impossible to spin out. If you go into a corner too fast, youll just fly off the side of the track into the barriers, but you wont spin out.

The most important thing is not going into turns too fast. You want to hit the apex, even if its a tad slow. Staying in the middle of the AI will teach you how to do this. Soon enough, you will learn the car and know how to push it further, how to hit the lines, and when to brake. It just takes practice.

Great post! Those complaining about DriveClub having rubberbanding don't understand what is true rubberbanding. I own all three Motorstorm's and they had heavy rubberbanding, DriveClub doesn't have any of that. The AI still has some issues (no racing game AI is perfect), but it's a marked improvement over Motorstorm and other racing games that use rubberbanding.

There's a legend that while playing Driveclub at the hardest track, under heavy rain, driving the most slippery and powerful car, if you manages to make a really perfect lap while still dancing with the car on the kerbs, a proud Senna appears smiling at you.

Everyone should watch the documentary film 'Senna'. It's fucking incredible and you don't need to be an F1 fan to appreciate it. Guy was a legend.

Honest question: where does DC fall in arcadey feel/fullblown sim? If Carmageddon is on one end of the spectra and McLaren's sim at Woking on the other?

The only thing I can tell you is that there is no car customization other then paintjobs/liveries. It's all about pure driving skill. I am particularly skilled in hitting walls.

If we're talking car & track physics only it's more of a sim than arcade.

+1 but with a playground that contains some of the most sublime tracks designs in racing game history.
Elevation change is the king of great-feeling fantasy tracks, and I don't think there's a single course on DC that doesn't have it. Just like PGR4 (to an extent).

Planning to play this over the break. Where I'm going I won't have internet access. Good thing I already patched ahead of time. Want to checkout this weather update first hand

Too bad I wont have my trusty racing wheel with me tho :(

We kind of have some with some of the existing tracks... but Japan will be amazing. Hopefully they come close to Fujimi Kaido, but I have a feeling they'll eclipse it.

Quebec in PGR4 was the most memorable track for that reason. Ungh.

so there's new PAID DLC right? How much are we saving by buying the season pass vs buying each DLC individually? Because I don't know if I want to invest in the season pass.

Season pass is $25. If you buy all the dlc separately, it adds up to $75
