New The Witcher 3 Gameplay

Combat looks as janky as Witcher 2 but otherwise it looks fantastic. Definitely looks a lot better than DA:I, with a better open world and seemingly more interesting side quests.

Looks great! I like the variety of looks the characters have in the world. That bounty hunter looked badass covered in animal pelts. I'm also digging how much more open everything feels.

Going to be upgrading my PC this Spring/Summer originally for Batman. Hopefully I will have everything together by the time this comes out in May.

It looks like they improved a little over Witcher's 2 combat. I just hope they they have more of the cool combat abilities unlockable earlier in the game. I also prefer the more action focus combat rather than something like DA:I as well.

HOLY SHIT AT THAT FOOTAGE.

That combined with all the hands on impressions and they still have 3 more months to optimize and bug fix......

CDProjekt Red coming for that 2015 GOTY crown

The PCGamer preview said the combat is clunky and no different from W2. They also criticised the combat controls.

In fairness, The Witcher 3 was ALL about the graphics in the early going. You can see how it can be a disappointment for many who think like that.

Fuck me the atmosphere given by the art direction amd the soundtrack are out of this world, screw graphics and doengrade comparisons.

I just hope UI will be customizable to an extent on console too, i'd like it to be as clean as possible.

Oh, and photomode please, those landscapes deserves it.

Don't let your fanboyism cloud your judgment. I think the game looks great as it is but it has definitely been "downgraded", earlier footage looked better no doubt about that.

I disagree. In any case, GAF is just a bummer. Here I am watching amazing looking gameplay video of a game I will spend 100+ hours in, and first thing I see when I come here:

"animations are bad"

As if RPG was about some fucking animations. Not to mention that they aren't even bad. Fallout 3 is bad. Skyrim is bad.

Man i'm going to get lost inside this game's world and i'm going to love every minute of it.

Anywhere we can download HQ versions of these videos?

I used google translate so I am not sure, but does it say PS4 version look better than Xbox One, and that PS4 version runs on 1080P/30fps? Anyone who speaks German?

Yes, they say PS4 looks better than X1.

They say Xbone 900p30 and textures look minimal more unsharp but the devs still try to polish the release but at current state PS4 looks sharper and more colorful (whatever that means in this context).

Yep Rock Paper Shotgun said the same thing.

Disappointing for me, it was something I was hoping was a big thing they'd improve because I found it the weakest part of Witcher 2. I mean shit, the combat improved a lot after Witcher 1 and was expecting a similar leap when going to Witcher 3. Guess not.

As far as I'm aware it's allowed to have different opinions. You should know that on neogaf people are bound to react differently to a game.
I'm very much looking forward to The Witcher 3 but I can't help noticing flaws and daring to express them.

Yep I have been a bit critical of the downgrade myself but this footage looks absolutely amazing. Not just graphically but the game itself. Man this is going to be goooooooooood

Good news. TW2 combat was great, now we just need menus that work with gamepad.

The combat was awful in W2 but w/e.

I wouldn't hold your breath for good menus, the same preview said pad controls were bad and you had to pause the game just to change sign in combat.

do you think it will possible with some tweaking to remove pop in, for machines that can handle more things on screen?

For pete's sake, just look at the wall at 6:12. the texture just appears ner Geralt.

Cleaned up the translation a little, a proper German speaker would be better than google translate:

"Before we come to the weather, some technical details. We're playing The Witcher 3 on all three platforms, the PC, the PS4 and Xbox One. PC has an Intel Core i7-4790, the motherboard ASRock Z97, 8.0 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 980 with 4.0 GB of video memory and an SSD drive. So a high-end system for the The Witcher 3 with graphics settings "high" runs fluid.

On 'Ultra' we must not turn the other hand. The developers say the highest level will still be optimized, but should then run fine on the same system. The maximum system requirements would be so laid out some rough times, but more power is currently eh hardly, except for systems with SLI dual graphics card. But see The Witcher 3 on "high" excellent and presents itself on the PC - as expected - anti-aliased, stronger in color sharper textured and with more shaders and gloss effects than on the consoles. Waxed leather armor about not shine light on the PC, on the PS4 and Xbox, however. Moreover, "popping" ground details such as tufts of grass on the consoles just five to seven feet in front of Geralt, while the detailed visual range is easy on the PC twice"

Anyone know why Gamersyde doesn't have this in better quality as usual?

Blimblim usually has Witcher 3 videos pretty fast. Youtube compression does get most details lost :/

That is really too bad. I did not enjoy the 'combat' in TW2 at all.

PS4 version at 1080p with high settings. So damn good.

Apparently not -

Further to that about the PS4 vs Xbox One stuff:

(more google translate clean up)

PS4 version looks better than the Xbox One. Textures blurrier on PS4 compared to PC on high textures when viewed at TV viewing distance, but not significantly noticeable. 1080p but only 30fps on PS4, did not bother them playing at 30fps

da fuck when did Tom McShea join RPS?!

In conversation, the hunter revealed that he was chased from his village because his neighbors discovered that he was gay. Now he lives by himself, away from the judging eyes of his peers.

The game opens with Geralt lying in a bath, legs splayed, enjoying not doing any of his morning chores. Beside him sits the sorceress Yennifer, naked in a chair, teasing him for being so lazy. It’s a scene that some people might see as pandering, particularly given the series previous form in this area, but it didn’t seem that way to me. Instead, I found it sweet and playful. There’s a happy back-and-forth between Geralt and Yennifer that made me smile, and so much of who these people are is communicated in that simple moment.

“Nudity is beautiful, it’s natural. And sex is natural. There’s nothing wrong with it, and that’s the approach we have,” Mattsson said. That sounds fine, but we’ve seen video games with that attitude go down troubling paths before. I hope The Witcher 3 continues to walk its fine line successfully. I’ve seen nothing but respect for the women I encountered. Yennifer is more than Geralt’s match, she’s his better in many ways, and she uses her own strength and intelligence to get what she believes is hers.

Mattsson goes further. “I find Yennifer amazing. If she existed in real life, well, thank god I’m married… but she’s an amazing woman. She’s so strong, so confident, and she does what she wants,” he said.

During my playtime, it rose above tropes and created people who were more than caricatures. This is true even in the minor characters I met. The hunter who accompanied me on my search for the griffin is more than just a stand-in. He’s wise in the ways of wildlife, believes dogs are even more heinous that wolves, and is an open book to those who show interest. Soon after my encounter with the hunter, I met a herbalist whose story was just as rich. Geralt finds friends in The Witcher 3 just by listening to what’s on people’s minds, and everyone seems to have their own quirks, personalities, and motivations, making me want to talk to them all.

Anyway, appreciate that the game is as morally gray as expected and that the characters are more complex even in side quests. I see Tom McShea might be turning down the difficulty like some others would be to just enjoy the story and scenery. Too bad about the fights not being that interesting for him.

Underwhelming and generic, but seems to work. Similar thoughts to DA:I, though the Frostbyte engine seems like the better one. The surrounds are woven together more nicely and stuff don't stick out as bad. Less rubber and more organic feeling of nature with the Frostbyte.

Hate it how Geralt moves. Like he's flying on another plane altogether. Almost no response with the surroundings. Not to mention the horse galloping - do I hear someone saying "Skyrim 4x4 Spider-Man mounts"?

And that frakking fisheye camera, ugh.

Game looks gorgeous in that vid regardless of platform though I am curious as to a definitive answer on what platform that is on, because if that is in fact Xbox One....my jaw just dropped straight through the floor to hell in awe.

no doubt the game does look good, but its clearly been heavily downgraded, and its not us whining, its them false advertising. how many times, even recently, did they bombard us with what we now know are bullshit lies claiming no downgrades? if developers dont want the backlash, dont show us fake bullshit you know you wont be able to deliver.

moving on, the animation is unsurprisingly bad, but this was to be expected. whats up with the AO tho? its hideous, its almost far cry 3 level of bad.

Perhaps, but they still haven't shown the "Ultra" PC settings yet, only "High"
