Who got Battlefront and Rainbow Six Siege marketing deals? MS?
I'd like to know this as well. Battlefront is a sleeping giant and could sweep the fps scene if Dice and EA do it right
Who got Battlefront and Rainbow Six Siege marketing deals? MS?
can someone please explain chartz's / ioi's logic regarding this?
because i have absolutely no idea why they would guess xbo > ps4 for the jan 4 - jan 10 week.
it's a major xbo momentum-killer week...the exact opposite of their "predictions." are they daft or something?

Actually on that site, the PS4 is always "under tracked" while the Xbox One is always "over tracked". Pretty crazy.
I don't think anyone can explain Chartz logic.....
The guy basically makes up numbers, and then adjusts them as soon as official data is released......
And everyone on that site takes their numbers as fact. I got banned for going on there and saying the numbers were fake....
OP do you choose [PS4] [XB1] based on who won the month before? It use to always say [PS4] up until now. I remember threads from last gen always said [360]. Heh. Just curious in your formula.
PS4-190k
XB1-130k

Use the OP format, if you want your entry counted.
I don't think they got RoTR to compete with UC4, they got it because it was cheap moneyhat, being the same genre as UC4 was a bonus. And Let's not forget that RoTR is timed exclusive (rumor is 4-6 months of exclusivity), yeah, that's pretty much "console war bulletpoint".
The Division is online open world 3rd person shooter with insane graphics, and Ubisoft want it to be their new big IP to compete with CoD and BF, so if MS played their cards right, it will be their Destiny.
EDIT: Of course MS also has AC:Victory, another option better than RoTR.
LOL, this is face palm worthy. Where the hell does Chartzz even get their numbers?can someone please explain chartz's / ioi's logic regarding this?

All sales estimates on chartz are arrived at via a number of proprietrary and ever-developing methods:
- Passively polling end users to find out what games they are currently purchasing and playing
- Polling retail partners to find out what games and hardware they are selling
- Using statistical trend fitting and historical data for similar games
- Studying resell prices to determine consumer demand and inventory levels
- Consulting with publishers and manufacturers to find out how many units they are introducing into the channel

So basically from their arse, right? XDSomewhere that gives out false data I'm guessing
Farts in the wind. They count the number sniffs and distinct odors. Once this is done, it is run through a highly complicated algorithm. This algorithm is only able to produce an answer once it comes out of the site owner's ass.
LOL, I knew that. I was actually being sarcastic with my questionThey steal them from here, official announcements, or quarterly investor conferences.
Any data that is not at least a month or so old on there is purely a guestamation by whoever runs that site, and based on little to no actual data.

This second one is how much each console sold month to month.
So basically from their arse
Ok, thanks for the suggestion, I will see what I can do with thatIt may be useful to normalize for the # of retail weeks per month, so that the month-to-month comparisons aren't affected by the number of weeks that month had compared to the ones around it. Good work on the charts!
I've been following Amazon daily this month and the PS4 was ahead almost the whole time despite the price drop of the X1. I'm not sure about other retailers, so I'll be waiting for more info from Abdiel before making my predictions. I'm expecting a ~70K-100K gap between the two either way

This is all that needs to be said. Amazon Best Sellers chart has been 1:1 with every NPD result this gen. Not exact numbers (since it doesn't reveal numbers anyway), but who is ahead of who.
PS4 has won January easily. Now if the X1 price had stayed at $399 again, I'd understand. But the fact that MS recanted on that instantly and shot the ACU bundle back out for $349 is leaving me very confused as to why the PS4 has outsold it with ease for January. The PS4 is STILL $399 and has no free game bundled in either. The effective cost of the X1 is $299 with that ACU game. Doesn't it also come with AC4 as well?
The PS4 now includes TLOU:R for free at $399. I think the reason why the PS4 is ahead despite the price cut of the X1 is because most people who wanted an X1 got one during the holidays and/or consumers are starting to lose interest in the AC bundle. This is all that needs to be said. Didn't even notice TLoU. Usually it has a little icon next to the PS4, but it's a digital Amazon exclusive freebie.
I'm still going to say:
[PS4] - 255k
[XB1] - 150k
[3DS] - 55k
[WIU] - 40k
I probably suck at guessing Nintendo ones but I don't really follow them so whatevs.
I think this is playing a big role too. The game is a few months old now -- the majority of its sales/interest probably came during the Holiday season.
Wonder if we'll see a bundle for Evolve.
What's next, though? MS removes the game and keeps the price at $349? Won't that do worse?
Exactly, hence why I'm wondering what the next game bundle will be.
Gamestop and Best Buy as well. No idea what Walmart is doing.
After all the backlash Evolve got from its DLC crap, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't sell very well, so bundling it with an X1 won't move systems effectively.I think this is playing a big role too. I'm still holding onto the idea that they will make an MCC/Minecraft bundle (this is roughly the 4th month in a row I've said this).

Don't think it will matter much; AC Unity had a pretty bad feedback too. Think the game will still do pretty well. Didn't really like the beta though.
Bad feedback matters a lot, lot less when it comes to established IPs. I mean, Halo MCC still sold a lot for how broken it was.
New IP, though? Not to mention it's not exactly receiving a crazy-marketing push like Destiny, nor does it have the awesome trailer/reveal effect like Dead Island and Watch_Dogs.
*Early 2014
"Xbox One without Kinect for $349 with AC4 and the next AC all in one bundle for the entirety of November and December!"
Poster would get laughed at and told it's ridiculous and unrealistic.
*November 2014
"Well then."
*Early 2015
-insert "ridiculous" bundle for the holidays-

"Well then."
MS opened the door for "ridiculous" bundles for the holiday.

This is a good point too. I don't think it will do bad though. Seems like there's enough interest in it due to the beta.
Pre-orders numbers in Gamestop are really bad though.

There's no shortage of new members here, who don't know how clueless Chartz can be, and try to use their numbers as proof of whatever. Every now and then it pays to point out some of their more ridiculous mistakes.Hi Aqua, I appreciate what you are doing here on gaf, but I notice that you are obsessed with this chartz site. Just leave them be, they are making their numbers from thin air and that's it.

And BTW, not everyone thinks the PS4 won this month easily. Just in this thread itself, you can find a few people refusing to believe the PS4 will be ahead without a price cut

Evolve comes out next week. Theres probably not gonna be a bundle.
