PS Plus games for February: Yakuza 4, Transistor, Rogue Legacy, more (NA&EU)

Yep, was about to post the same, Thief too.

The 2 new releases Apotheon and Kick & Fennick have not been added to the store yet...
I just got set Apotheon to download. It didn't show up when I searched it once but it did the second time so it exists in the Playstation Store ether somewhere.

Because it necessitates hours of grinding.

I wouldn't say it necessitates grinding. The game is designed to be played over and over again, as it gets tougher and your character gets more powerful. Replaying feels more similar to a multiplayer competitive game where you play over and over again than a single player game where you grind in order to 'beat it' or something like that.

The point of the game isn't to beat the final boss and be done with it, but to enjoy finding new abilities, new enemies, new secrets, new jokes, etc.

Hot damn this is a good month. First time I've had three games competing for my attention since I got the PS4. Looking forward to Yakuza, too (eventually, after a LOT of rogue legacy)

And apparently the Vita game is worth checking out? Nice.

They're live now if you search for them on the Australian store, too. I've been getting anxious to start all the downloads and then never play the games, as usual :p

ehh its not that great

We've already gotten

Strider
Steamworld
Luftrausers

Tearaway and Rayman Legends are pretty great, but Raiden is meh, Ex Troopers is meh, clannad is really bad and the rest are crappy perv games...

i just dont see how its that good...

You are not a person I wish to interact with on this site or any other. Good day.

I hadn't bothered looking at anything to do with Kick and Fennick as I'd never heard of it - I assumed it was going to be another 'Woah Dave'. i.e. a real low budget indie, but I just watched the launch trailer and it looks pretty awesome.

Thanks for posting that. Without that i would have thought that its some shit i wont even try. But it actually looks good in motion.

Edit: Webstore finds everything.

They're on the PS+ page proper now (at least in AU), don't need to search individually.

How is it to start with Yakuza 4? Is the story better enjoyed playing through the whole series in order?

Apparently there is a really nice summary/video bringing you up to speed with the series in Y4.

What the hell...Rogue Legacy's control on the PS4 are just awful...its the kind of game that you need precise, quick response controls and they are so floaty and bad with the analog stick...I will try and get use to the D-Pad otherwise I cant play this,I keep dying after like 3 screens over and over and I just dont get the Heirs thing...its annoying,oh well thank god it was free.

After fumbling through this game using the Steam controller, the PS4 controller is a godsend. You really shouldn't be playing games like this using the analog stick.

Am I missing out on anything playing Transistor before playing Bastion? Apparently they're linked somehow, is it worth waiting to play it?

Rouge Legacy is awesome and frustrating lol its my first time playing through it but using the architect has really helped me get further in dungeons. It just kinda sucks when you lose a heir you really like.

Dont think about tte heirs. Concentrate on money runs to upgrade your castle until you are strong enoigh to beat a boss. Only use the architect if you want to do a boss run, since you only get like 40% cash.

Do we have an OT for Apatheon? Pretty cool game.

Don't know if it's been asked, but is the digital version of Yakuza 4 compatible with saves created on the disc version?

Yeah,I will use the D-Pad,like many of you suggested, instead of calling me stupid, and try again today but I think this kind of game is not for me anymore...too bad,the music is awesome,so is the metrovania side of it and the graphics and all,but it's just too hard for me...we shall see.

I felt the same the first time I played it. Once you've played it for a few hours and the upgrade trees, heirs and various traits all start to make sense, it becomes a very enjoyable time sink.

I also found the Rogue Legacy Wikia to be a great help - details what each of the traits mean, special items, stats etc.

Trying Transistor now. Looks great so far, love the art style and the tone of the game. And the combat is interesting.

Great month for PS Plus. :D

Rogue Legacy feels insanely hard at the start. I think I died three or four times before I even got to the third screen, but it gets much easier as you upgrade your character and castle. Any improvements to stats/weapons carry over to your heirs, so you will start to make gradual progress as long as you are picking up monies and upgrading.

It always punishes you for not paying attention though - spike floors and those paintings as an example. Once you start to know of the dangers you'll be on the lookout for them and you'll find you take way fewer unnecessary hits. Stick with it and after a few hours you should see a vast improvement in how long each life lasts.

And then when you feel you're getting good, go watch the run of it at this years AGDQ and be blown away. Dude had some serious skills and I think he takes about 25 minutes to finish the game, it was insane.

When the Architect locks the castle, how do you know which one...? I had a run where the first real room, was full of bouncy stuff and me having to jump down with the sword to make a little platform appear etc etc...I dont want that one to be locked but an easier one...can I do that...?

Put Yakuza 4 on download before leaving for work, dunno if it will be done by the time I get back but looking forward to trying it.

Finished the first game on PS2 and remember enjoying it quite a bit. The second game I ended up ditching around the part where you had to get 100K by gambling or something and I pretty much never enjoy that sort of thing.

It only locks the last one you did.
