DRIVECLUB |OT2| You Can't Rush Evolution

Hi GAF Driveclubers! I just joined the party yesterday taking advantage of the 10% discount code.

Since the OT is a bit "lacking", is there a GAF club (EU or otherwise) that I can join?

You can click the top banner for the non-lacking OT :)

Also clubs are 6 members max, so there isn't one GAF club.

Add DRIVECLUB-GAF on PSN and add a bunch of its friends to populate your leaderboards.

Damn close :) Walk away then come back to it the next day usually works... And then sense of accomplishment when you do manage it is payoff :)

Yeah, I got it an hour later. :) Only by 85 thousandths of a second, but I still got it.
I also just finished off the Elements DLC... Here's a slightly embarrassing video of the final race. Bloody difficult. My hands were shaking on that last lap I was so nervous.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0FKHVjh-Ko

I've been playing Driveclub in bonnet cam exclusively until the Elements DLC, it's literally impossible to see where you're going, so I had to switch out to bumper cam.

Yay, Venom Hot Lap 2 beat!

Not a great time with 1:19.781, as i've had better sector times previously, but it'll do for now. I have to agree with everyone who said that after beating the first one, VHL2 wasn't that hard after all. The first one took me several attempts spread over multiple days, which must have accumulated to at least 2 hours, whereas HL2 only took me 20 or so minutes altogether. I guess having to learn proper throttle control for the Venom on HL1 has helped me with this one. The biggest challenge for me wasn't even the rain, but the darkness, as i have had a hard time judging exactly when to take a few corners.

I'm on my way to 585/585 stars (currently at 551), hopefully i can get there before the next tours come out. The last two came out just before i got 100% of stars at the time.

I have yet to try out the main tour in Elements, but from the comments in here it gets pretty crazy, would you guys say it's harder or easier than Venom HL2? What about in comparison to the main tours in the other packs? I've beaten all of those and left this one for last, because it sounded so daunting.

I also need to muster up the patience for From Dusk till Dawn, that one might take a while for me, as i'm pretty bad at taking some of the corners with the RUF and the length of the race demands a lot of concentration and i occasionally just zone out. >.<

Congrats!

Venom Hot Lap 2 is by far the hardest event in the Elements pack.

There's another race in snow (I think it was part of a multi race event) where visibility gets crazy low in cockpit view, but it was on a well known track for me, so it wasn't that hard.

That's my problem. I tried it once to hit the 9 event challenge part but there's only one per lap and the gd AI screwed me on two by being in the wrong place and I totally zoned out on like lap 8 and missed another so just stopped.

I thought the final race was worse than HL2 but i'd hammered Tamil Nadu so knew the course well. The final race needs some track memory as visibility is so low.

Man it's like watching an online race in that video, that poor AI being rammed into barriers every chance you get!!

I had to do it in two parts. Focus on the face off part for one race only and then clean up the remaining stars completely ignoring the face offs.

Thanks!

I've just beaten the main Elements Tour, wasn't too bad. I've only had to repeat the 2nd race once, because i came in 2nd and wanted to ensure i got enough points for the championship star requirement, in case the last race proved to be extraordinarily difficult. While the weather on the last one really was crazy, thankfully the AI wasn't.

Yeah, i actually watched that just before playing it myself and i still wasn't prepared for the heavy snowfall in the last 2 laps. It looked easier on youtube. :D

I did the same, i just went after the challenges the first time to get them out of the way. Didn't manage to get anywhere near the top on my two subsequent attempts though.

Rubbing is racing and besides, those fooking AI drivers ram into me and spin me out so they can suck it, I'm crashing their party too!

I agree. The first week or so I had the game I tried to drive politely as I would in other racing games, I was meticulous in Forza 5 especially since I knew my driveatar was being recorded.

But after a week of the retarded AI slamming into me on every turn and completely ignoring my inside positioning and whatnot, I said F it. I now just push them aside and slam into them all the time.

Pretty much lol. They could just release a Geneva themed DLC pack.

The 1.20 time is a reasonable time, there should be more like that, if 1.16s low are possible then it's a reasonable target, I think allot of it is just learning the track, people in general are to used to racing lines, and you can tell online, I'm glad they were not included as I think they are such a bad thing, people don't learn the tracks they just follow a line and that's it. Driveclub forces you to learn the tracks look at the scenery for brake markers etc.
I'm the same, far prefer there not to be racing lines at all.

BTW Which wheel is it you use, the top-range Thrusty or one of the lower ones? Not that I think it will make one iota of difference to how well I drive :/

And the trickiest parts of each track are where you'll usually find a cornering challenge, which does provide it's own line for that portion of the track. Then of course there's always watching the ghosts of the players with faster times. I do both of these things in time trials - after I've spent a good time with the track myself and no UI - so you can still reap some of the benefits of a line without being held slavishly to it like you would if it was drawn on the course at all times.

I played a bit of Driveclub today after a week with OlliOlli 2. My reaction time is so twitchy now, gonna take a bit of time to slow myself down again for Driveclub.

^ Thanks.

On a side note, it was interesting to notice how the player amount has increased in 1½ months.

Here's my leaderboard capture from 30 January:

And one from today:

The last one has moved back 165,904 ranks.

I've now won 9 challenges honestly and still don't have the fucking trophy. I was sitting on the challenge and watched it expire. I'm so goddamn frustrated because I want to platinum this game so badly. Does anyone have any tips?

It's still bugged after it was patched? That's annoying. Hopefully it'll pop up retroactively if it gets fixed.

I just did it right now. I went and did 5 drift events in single player with very low scores and then sent it to my other account. Then I did all challenges on second account but made sure to not beat any of the scores, after that just incase I got to my main driveclub account that I sent the challenges with and did them again and beat my original scores. When I was done I left the game running for a hour until challenges expired and got the trophy.

Anyway the only trophy I'm missing is "credits where it's due", I don't know how I haven't gotten that yet when I"ve played this game a ton and done everything plus the dlc at 100%. I don't feel like grinding but damn I been playing since launch.

As lovely as all the fast cars are, I'd prefer something like this

howell_focus-02.jpg

Give us something that you can have good precise wheel to wheel racing with that's not going to spin out with the slightest knock.

Well done mate. Still baffles me how people drive with exterior views on driving games! But bravo to this who do, and who do it well.

I have always used exterior view. It's the only way I can place the car correctly and see enough of the track ahead. Any first person view feels too low for me

That's certainly a hindrance when there are cars in front of you, or when there's foliage in the inner corners, like in some of the Norwegian and Scottish tracks. It didn't stop me from beating most of the challenges I sent out though. ;) I just can't get a proper feel to the driving when I'm using the exterior view.

So is season pass REALLY worth it? Seems many people here think it's great.... Lots of tracks to unlock.... also do the season pass tours incorporate weather effects? If so which ones? :D

Sense of speed just isn't nearly as impressive in exterior view, doesn't feel as immersive either. I'm more of a dash cam guy myself, but switch to bonnet cam and cockpit depending on mood, event and vehicle (some cars have stunning cockpits lol), chase cam only for drift events.

Yep. Loads of people in here saying it's the only season pass they've ever bought (myself included) and they are very happy with it. If you're enjoying the base game, it's a no-brainer.

And yes, quite a few of the season pass tours incorporate weather. I think every event in the Elements pack does (hence the name), and I think they're in every tour released after Elements, just not on every event.

Almost the best Season pass ever.

Tracks are free of charge. Cars/liveries and events are included in the SP

All Season Pass Tours include weather. It's their showcase feature ;). Update, as mentioned by Siegmeyer, not all races from a given Tour include rain/sleet/snow.

Yes. Absolutely worth it.

Thanks for the replies guys, I really do enjoy the core game so I will be picking this up after work today :)
