Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae |OT| Brought to you by Coleman™

Lunafreya Nox Fleuret.

She was stated as being killed in the invasion of Lucius( as was Noctis). I wouldn't be surprised if someone who happened to look a lot like her really did die. A character like that is one you probably wouldn't want to cover too heavily in your marketing.

Well, since we know that is most likely false since I doubt they've already killed off Noctis. It could also be the same for Luna, in that it is false, maybe Stella is the name she switches to after the presumed death of Luna.

And then maybe Noctis also takes up a pseudonym?

I was thinking more that Stella gets killed, but there's a case of mistaken identity and they think they killed Luna, while Noctis being dead is just a complete fabrication.

I'll take any situation that allows for Stella to still exist as a separate character and for Noctis to have his party scene and confrontation with her after the party. Even if she gets offed in the first hour of the game.

Hell why are people so attached to Stella anyway?

I like her design but people seem really involved and mad at Tabata with not reveal what's up with her. When we know next to nothing about her as a character or even if she's a well written one at best.

I get that part, but what I don't is when people say Stella > Luna, I get confused.

Maybe they just mean from a design prospective, but if not I find it funny when we know nothing about either. Like somehow Stella is just inherently better...just because.

Most people are attached to the design itself.

had a chance to play the demo finally. I love it to pieces. The lock on definitely needs some work because i was having lots of trouble when we finally confronted the behemoth for the first time... wow what a very cool set piece. Ignis is a badass.

I also really liked the voice over... i don't see what the problem with them were. it's significantly better than a lot of stuff out there. One line got me to chuckle where prompto was like "i hope it doesn't smell my fear" in reference to the behemoth.

They just need to up the sensitivity of the camera and simplify the lock on system and it's going to be my favorite game of all time. only thing that bothers me genuinely is the graphics. I won't be able to put up with the strange resolution. something about the IQ is very off. I also would not mind if you could cancel into your techniques from normal attacks... the pause i have to do before pulling off a special move is jarring. other than that the details are there like wind blowing clothes and hair...detailed animations of not only the main characters but the beasts throughout the demo.

I have faith in this game.

Two things:

- Did you go to Options and max out the camera sensitivity?

- Have you been using R3 for lock-on, as opposed to holding R1 for a second? (which seems to be more of a misunderstood 'targeting mode' than an actual lock-on)

(Both of the above definitely could use some refinement to be more intuitive)

Square have gone quiet on XV post-demo which is nice.

Keep it that way til E3 and then blow our minds.

BELIEVE!

Not really, Tabata already appeared in Famitsu post-demo launch with an interview, they also announced Hexadrive is helping out, pretty sure we'll hear more soon.

SO I just finished the demo for the first time recently. Here are my impressions:

Pros:
- Awesome demo overall. Lots of content and a good showcase of the game's core gameplay elements.
- Battle system is really good, probably the best in the series yet, including spinoffs.
- End of the day leveling up mechanic is a fresh and neat concept.
- Nails it's atmosphere and setting
- Map is pretty massive (for what little we get of it in the demo)
- Despite the Backstreet Boys appearance, the main four guys seem fairly enjoyable and full of personality to carry the story in.

Cons:
- Framerate drops, framerate drops everywhere
- No music in the overworld makes the experience fairly dull and boring at times.

Those are just my impressions of the demo. Hope this can carry into the main game to an even better experience and fix some of the issues at hand. If the game can keep it at this pace this could very well be the best Final Fantasy game to date, which is a great thing for Square's JRPG division to freshen things up like this game is aiming to accomplish.

Mentioning Hexadrive helped out is really not much to call home about.

People are placing too much hope on them polishing out the game and optimizing it for release, I think. There's no guarantee we're getting a buttery smooth game.

From a technical perspective we have nothing to worry about.

At least on PS4 I would think anyway.

Don't expect 30fps solid but it will improve over the demo which isn't too bad on PS4.

Image quality and Framerate should be priority and then followed by graphical whistles.

Cant speak for XB1 tho. Already a lower res and 5fps lower average compared to PS4.

Interesting detail from the latest Edge.

- Felt that certain members of the team created problems during the development of the game and demo as they had set limits as to what they felt they could achieve. This resulted in negative approaches that held the team back. The worst stated by Tabata was: conservative thinking that did not recognize the need to evolve or overestimating some of the technical risks involved in doing so. The thing I have spent the most energy on in development is clearing away all of these notions about the limits of what Final Fantasy can achieve.

Woah, there's a great feature about Alexander O. Smith's localization work for SE. Just read two preview pages on Play Store. I might grab that issue. So there's also new FFXV info?

EDIT: Oh, I was looking at last month's issue, not the May one.

I got some God of War 3 vibes from the reveal trailer (the leviathan destroying everything). Looked like a next gen God of War game at times

For the set pieces, I think that's what FF always wanted to be for a very long time. It looks like a natural evolution.

It's the Battle of the Gardens from FFVIII on steroids.

The demo released not even 3 weeks ago.

SE went <three weeks without spoiling shit in the game..wohoo!

Kojima's handling of MGSV is how they should do it.(except the recent Konami disaster obviously but that cant be helped)

I wouldn't be surprised if they, like, spoil the final boss by the time this game releases.

You know, I searched deep within myself about how I felt about the whole punching-while-dangling-off-a-rope sequence in FFVIII after I brought it up a few weeks ago.

I've concluded that I'm still really angry at how stupid that 'minigame' was.

edit: in before someone says it's the same type of attack/defense animation locking FFXV combat has

I can't fathom a time where the fight against the Galbadian Solider was actually impressive, much less acceptable.

I dunno, it was a time where FMVs were still serious shit balls impressive, and FF8's were a whole league above FF7.

I guess the concept itself just hasn't really aged well.

You're probably right. It was still a great achievement I suppose.

Now, I just think that that battle with the solider took away from the game rather than add to it.

That was a bit silly but it didn't bother me.

I'm curious what kind of mini-games they might come up with for Noctis.

Edge also felt like they were borrowing too much from other games... I agree.

I agree, too. Especially some of the western-influenced design choices ("objectives" on the map, the stealth section, lack of exploration music, etc.).

Not a fan of those, but I still really loved the demo. The good far outweighs the bad.

Sometimes I feel like Tabata feels overconfident and feels like his team can achieve anything, think he's a though boss to work for.

Nah, I would say he's just motivated and genuinely passionate about making something great. He even underpromises most of the time and never talks about possible features without adding that they're not yet sure if they'll be able to implement them.
When he talks about the "conservative thinking" that holds the team back he probably just means that he wants FF to try to be impressive again, with the same mentality that Sakaguchi & Co. had when they made ambitious games like FFVI, FFVII and FFVIII. You never had this feeling with Kitase and Toriyama when they talked about their FFXIII saga. They seemed tired and like they lost their hunger after all the years. Tabata is still hungry and wants to prove himself.

Just got around to it. It is good fun. Especially taking on 5-10 sabertusks at once. I noticed with the sabertusks and goblins the light swords are godsend. Camera is a bit off at times. Also I sat in the the environment and let a day passed. Watching the shadows change throughout the day is amusing for me.

Also on the podcast Kagari's voice is more bubbly then I expected.
